The dust and pollen filter should be replaced every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or 24 months , whichever comes first. Replace the filters more often if the air flow is less than usual. 1. Remove the glove box. 2. Cut the plastic cross brace (A) in the glove box opening with diagonal cutters in the area shown. Remove the cross brace and the two mounting screws (B) from the glove box opening. Retain these parts to be reinstalled later. 3. Remove the filter lid (A) from the evaporator, then pull out the upper and lower dust and pollen filters (B). 4. Remove and replace the filter (A) from the housing (B). 5. Install the filters in the reverse order of removal. Make sure that there is no air leaking out of the evaporator. 6. Install the cross brace (A) into the glove box opening by aligning the tabs (B) with the slots (C). 7. Secure the cross brace with the two mounting screws (D) removed in step 2. 8. Reinstall the glove box.

NOTE: Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components. Take care not to scratch the dashboard and related parts. 1. Remove the passenger’s undercover. 2. Open the glove box (A) and document tray (B). Remove the lid (C), then remove the screws (D) and bolt (E). 3. Close the glove box (A), then remove the bolts. 4. Remove the glove box (A). 1. Pull out the glove box, then remove the clips (B). 2. Remove the harness clip (C) and the ambient light bulb socket (D). 3. Disconnect the trunk lid opener main switch connector (E). 5. Install the box in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely. Make sure the connector is plugged in properly, and the bulb socket is connected securely. Take care not to scratch the passenger’s front console cover.

Reset the PCM . 2. Start the engine. Hold the engine at 3,000 rpm with no load (in Park or neutral) until the radiator fan comes on. 3. Drive the vehicle under load for about 10 minutes . Try to keep the engine speed in the 1,700 – 2,500 rpm range. 4. Check the Temporary DTC with the scan tool. Is Temporary DTC P1491 indicated? YES – Go to step 5. NO – Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose wires at the EGR valve and at the PCM. 5. Turn the ignition switch OFF . 6. Disconnect the EGR valve 6P connector. 7. Start the engine and let it idle. 8. Measure voltage between EGR valve 6P connector terminals No. 4 and No. 6. Is there about 9 – 10 V ? YES – Go to step 9. NO – Substitute a known-good PCM, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original PCM. 9. Turn the ignition switch OFF . 10. Turn the ignition switch ON (II). 11. Measure voltage between EGR valve 8P connector terminals No. 2 and No. 3. Is there about 5 V ? YES – Go to step 13. NO – Go to step 12. 12. Measure voltage between PCM connector terminals C18 and C28. Is there about 5 V? YES – Repair open in the wire between the EGR valve and the PCM (C18, C28). NO – Substitute a known-good PCM and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original PCM. 13. Turn the ignition switch OFF .

Never use an air hose or dry brush to clean brake assemblies. Use an OSHA-approved vacuum cleaner to avoid breathing brake dust . 1. Loosen the front wheel nuts slightly, then raise the vehicle and support if on safety stands. 2. Remove the caliper bolt, and pivot the caliper up out of the way. NOTE: Check the hoses and pin boots for damage or deterioration. 3. Remove the pad shim, pad retainers and pads. 4. Using vernier calipers, measure the thickness of each brake pad lining. The measurement does not include pad backing plate thickness. Brake Pad Thickness: Standard: Type R Model: 10.5 – 11.5 mm 10.41 – 0.45 inch) All except Type R Model: 9.5 – 10.5 mm (0.37 – 0.41 inch) Service Limit: 1.6 mm 10.06 inch) 5. If the brake pad thickness is less than the service limit, replace the front pads as a set. 6. Clean the caliper thoroughly; remove any rust, and check for grooves and cracks.

WARNING: A transient high tension (25,000 V) occurs at the bulb sockets of the high intensity discharge (HID) lamps when the combination light switch is turned ON. It may cause serious electrical shock or electrocution if you do not observe the cautions below. CAUTION: – Never turn on the combination light switch before fitting the HID bulbs to their bulb sockets and completing the reassembly of the headlight assembly. – Do not service the headlights assembly in wet conditions, such as rain or snow, near a sprinkler system, or when your hands are wet to prevent electrocution. – Do not touch the surface of the HID bulbs with your bare hands and do not stain it with any oils and fats. – Do not disassemble the inverter unit and the ignitor unit. – Do not turn on the HID bulb by using a power source other than the battery mounted on your vehicle. 1. 2. 3. 4. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio and the navigation system, then write down the frequencies for the radio’s preset buttons. Combination light switch OFF.
