REMOVAL PROCEDURE 1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3. CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions. Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution in Service Precautions . 2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to unlock the steering wheel. 3. Turn the steering wheel 90 degrees so the side of the SIR module is at the 12 o’clock position in order to gain access to the access holes behind the steering wheel. 4. Insert a flat-bladed tool into each access hole and push the leaf spring in order to release the notched pin that retains the inflator module. 5. Turn the steering wheel 180 degrees in order to gain access to the remaining access holes. 6. Insert a flat-bladed tool into the remaining access holes and push the leaf spring to release the notched pin that retains the inflator module.

Fascia Replacement – Front Bumper Removal Procedure 1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting(). 2. Remove the front fascia extensions. 3. Remove the front push-in fasteners that secure the lower air deflector to the fascia. 4. Disconnect the fog lamp/ turn signal electrical connectors (1). 5. Remove the bolts (2) that secure the bumper fascia to the front fender. 6. Remove the push-in retainers (1) across the top side of the fascia. 7. Loosen approximately 4 turns, the inner fastener nut (2) securing the fascia to the inner fender. 8. Loosen the fascia from the key slots at the inner fender attachments. 9. With an assistant, remove the fascia by pulling the fascia forward from the vehicle. Installation Procedure 1. With an assistant, position the fascia (3) to the vehicle. Install 2 push-in retainers (1) in order to hold the fascia to the upper tie bar. 2. Position the fascia to the key slot at the inner fender.

Service and Repair REMOVAL PROCEDURE 1. Remove the fuel tank. 2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel tank pressure sensor. 3. Open the retaining strap. 4. Carefully pry the locking tabs away from the pressure sensor. 5. Pull upward in order to remove the pressure sensor from the fuel tank. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Press the fuel tank pressure sensor into the fuel tank, until the locking tabs are fully seated. 2. Close the retaining strap. 3. Connect the electrical connector to the fuel tank pressure sensor. 4. Install the fuel tank.

STEERING WHEEL REPLACEMENT TOOLS REQUIRED J 1859-A Steering Wheel Puller REMOVAL PROCEDURE 1. Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in Restraint Systems. 2. Remove the inflator module. 3. Remove the horn switch. 4. Make an alignment mark in order to note the relationship of the steering wheel to the steering shaft. 5. Remove the steering wheel nut. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Align the marks made during the removal of the steering shaft and the steering wheel. 2. Install the steering wheel onto the steering shaft. 3. Install the steering wheel nut to the steering shaft. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Tighten Tighten the nut to 40 N.m (29 lb ft). 4. Install the horn switch. 5. Install the inflator module. 6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in Restraint Systems.

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions. 1. If equipped with side air bags, disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 7 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 9 in SIR. 2. Move the seat to the full rearward position. Remove the front seat nut cover (3), if equipped. 3. Remove the seat retaining front nuts (2). 4. Move the seat to the full forward position in order to remove the seat retaining rear bolts (1). 5. Disconnect the electrical harness, if equipped. 6. Remove the seat from the vehicle. Installation Procedure 1. Position the seat in the vehicle. 2. Connect the electrical harness, if equipped. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. 3. Move the seat to the full forward position in order to install the seat retaining rear bolts (1). Tighten the retaining rear bolts to 55 N.m (41 lb ft). 4. Install the front seat adjuster bolt cover (3), if equipped. 5. Move the seat to the full rearward position and install the seat retaining front nuts (2). Tighten the nuts to 55 N.m (41 lb ft). 6. If equipped with side air bags, enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 7 and SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 9 in SIR.
