1. Remove the trim panel. 2. Remove the water deflector. 3. Remove the inside door handle assembly by completing the following steps: Drill out the rivet head using a 5 mm (0.2-in) drill bit. Slide forward the door handle. 4. Disconnect the control rods from the handle and the lock lever. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Connect the control rods to the handle and the lock lever. 2. Install the inside door handle by completing the following steps: Insert the handle assembly into the slot. Slide the assembly to the rear. Using the J34940, install the handle rivet. 3. Install the water deflector. 4. Install the trim panel.

Fluid Filter Installation Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Install the transmission fluid filter assembly (42) and the M6 x 1.0 x 16.7 mm transmission fluid filter bolt (43) into the transmission case assembly. Tighten the transmission fluid filter bolt to 5 N.m (44 lb in). RECIRCULATION ACTUATOR REPLACEMENT (VISTEON) REMOVAL PROCEDURE 1. Remove the HVAC module assembly. 2. Remove the screws from the evaporator core cover (1). 3. Remove the evaporator core cover (1) from the HVAC module assembly (2). 4. Remove the screws from the recirculation actuator (1). 5. Remove the recirculation actuator (1) from the HVAC module assembly (2). INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Install the recirculation actuator (1) to the HVAC module assembly (2). 2. Install the screws to the recirculation actuator (1). NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in) . 3. Install the evaporator core cover (1) to the HVAC module assembly (2). 4. Install the screws to the evaporator core cover (1). Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in) . 5. Install the HVAC module assembly. 6. Reprogram the recirculation actuator. Refer to Re-Calibrating Actuators, See: Testing and Inspection\Programming and Relearning\Actuator Recalibration – HVAC

1. Disconnect the underhood lamp electrical connector, if equipped. 2. Remove the hood. 3. Remove the PCM. 4. Remove the coolant recovery tank. 5. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the grille mounted lamps, If equipped. 6. Remove the right front headlamp assembly. 7. Remove the front bumper. 8. Remove the right wheelhouse panel. 9. Disconnect the radio antenna cable. 10. Disconnect the electrical connector for the horn. 11. Remove the right fender. 12. Remove the blower motor resistor. 13. Remove the accumulator. 14. Remove the evaporator tube. 15. Remove the evaporator and blower module heat shield mounting screws. 16. Remove the evaporator and blower module heat shield. IMPORTANT: Retain the evaporator and blower module heat shield mounting bracket for installation. 17. Remove the evaporator and blower module mounting bolts and nuts. 18. Remove the evaporator and blower module from the vehicle.

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting. 2. Remove the drain plug and drain fluid. Allow at least 5 minutes for the fluid to drain completely. 3. Remove the gasket from the drain plug and discard. Installation Procedure 1. Install the new gasket on the drain plug. Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice. 2. Install the drain plug. Tighten the drain plug to 40 N.m (30 lb ft). 3. Make sure vehicle is level. 4. Remove the fluid level indicator located behind the front transaxle mount. Notice: Do not remove the 3rd gear anchor band bolt located on top of the transmission for checking fluid or adding fluid. Removing the bolt will dislocate internal components and require the transmission to be removed from the vehicle and disassembled for repair. Important: Dexron(R)III automatic transmission fluid is not compatible with this transaxle. If Dexron(R)III ATF is used, transaxle failure will result. Refer to Sealers, Adhesives, and Lubricants. 5. Add approximately 3.1 L (3.3 Qt)
