Removal of the O.E.M. system: 1. Park the vehicle on a smooth level asphalt or concrete surface and set the parking brake firmly. Place a block in front of and behind the front wheels. Jack up the rear of the vehicle and place on jack stands under the frame in the manufactures specified locations. Alternatively, it would be best to have the vehicle raised on a hydraulic lift. Warning: Do not work under a vehicle being held up by only a jack. Place jack stands securely under the vehicle in the manufacturer specified location. 2. Spray all the rubber hangers with a spray lubricant to ease removal of the system. 3. The stock muffler is secured to the vehicle by rubber hangers and flange bolts. Unbolt the muffler from the midsection at the flange then remove the muffler from the vehicle. See (Fig.1 & Fig.2) 4. Next you will need to remove the center section of the stock exhaust by removing the bolts from the flange in front of the OEM resonators. For ease of installation it is recommended that you remove the cross-brace. Set this aside as you will be reinstalling it. Vehicle type: Four-door sedan Watch for: There are two guide pins/gravity stops on the underside of the glass that may pose a problem if your goal is to salvage the windshield.. A. Windshield Preparation 1. Cover the front seats, floorboards, dash and steering wheel with a clean drop cloth or disposable plastic covers. Note: Always wear eye and hand protection when working with glass. Make sure you have the right glass and moldings and the urethane systems are current. 2. Drape the fender with a fender cover and tape up any vulnerable areas on the vehicle to protect against possible damage. Tape up the defroster vents to prevent debris from falling into the openings. 3. Remove the rearview mirror. Using a padded tool or your hand, tap downward on the mirror to remove it from the pad. 4. Remove the windshield-wiper nut covers. 5. Remove the windshield-wiper nuts using a 15-millimeter wrench or socket. Move the wiper arm in an up-and-down motion to break it loose from the post, or use a wiper-puller. Note: Wipers can sometimes be hard to remove. Use a wiper-puller to avoid stressing the post. 6. To remove the cowl panel, first remove the two push-in-the-center-type retainers in the two corners. 7. Remove the hood bulb seal from the front leading edge of the cowl panel using a tack puller or door-pad tool. 8. Slide the cowl panel toward the engine compartment and remove. There are several hooks that slide under the lower glass edge. Put the panel in a safe place. 9. Remove the side moldings. They run the entire length of the vehicle roof and are held in place with clips that you can easily release with your fingers. Pull the molding toward the A pillar and lift up the backside with your fingers. To release the last clip on the roof near the back glass, push the molding toward the back glass. It will release without damage. 10. The top molding is an underside molding that does not come with the glass. You can use a universal underside molding as a replacement. Note: Before beginning windshield removal, verify the new windshield is the correct one and the urethanes and primers are current. Never use outdated products as this could jeopardize the structural integrity of the vehicle and the safety of its passengers. Removal 11. Make sure cutting blades are sufficiently sharp.
