The “MAINTENANCE NOTICE” screen displays each time the key is turned ON until one of the following conditions are met: ¼ “RESET” is selected. ¼ “Display Maintenance Notification” is set OFF. ¼ the maintenance interval is set again. “Reset” key using the joystick and push the “ENTER” button. To display the MAINTENANCE NOTICE, auto- matically when setting trip distance is reached, select the “Display Maintenance Notification” key and push the “ENTER” button. MAINTENANCE NOTICE The “MAINTENANCE NOTICE” screen (“EN- GINE OIL” or “TIRE ROTATION”) will be auto- matically displayed as shown when both of the following conditions are met: ¼ the vehicle is driven the set distance and the ignition switch is turned OFF. ¼ the ignition key is turned ON the next time the vehicle will be driven. To return to the previous display after the “MAINTENANCE NOTICE” screen is displayed, push the “PREV” button.

1. Remove the top screw only from the RH & LH side finishers (see Fig. 5 ). If equipped, remove both screws and finisher from the front edge of the seat (see Fig. 5 ). Fig. 5: Removing Finisher Screws & Front Finisher 2. Disconnect the seat sub-harness connector (to slide motor – see Fig. 6 ). Remove M8 (12mm head) bolt from both sides of the seat frame, located to the sides of the front edge of seat (see Fig. 6 ). Then, remove six nuts and two base plates on both sides, located at the top of the seat frame, to release the gear boxes (see Fig. 6 ). Fig. 6: Disconnecting Connector & Releasing Gear Boxes 3. Slide both of the seat rails back to the rear position (towards the seat back) and remove the worm gears, flexible wire, motor, and gear boxes, all as one unit, from the seat adjuster assembly (see Fig. 7 ).Fig. 7: Removing Gears, Wire, Motor & Gear Boxes 4. Remove the flexible wire from the gear boxes. To release the flexible wire from the motor end, pull up on the tab using a flat blade screwdriver or equivalent (see Fig. 8 ).

REMOVAL 1. Drain coolant from radiator and cylinder block. 2. Remove cylinder head front mounting bracket. 3. Loosen water pump pulley bolts. 4. Remove drive belts for power steering pump. 5. Remove water pump pulley. NOTE: ^ When removing water pump assembly, be careful not to get coolant on drive belt. ^ Water pump cannot be disassembled and should be replaced as a unit. 6. Remove coolant hoses from water inlet and thermostat housing. 7. Remove water pump bolts. 8. Remove water pump with thermostat housing. INSTALLATION 1. Use a scraper to remove liquid gasket from water pump. Also, remove traces of liquid gasket from mating surface of cylinder block. 2. Apply a continuous 2.0 – 3.0 mm (0.079 – 0.118 inch) thick bead of liquid gasket to mating surface of water pump. Use Genuine Liquid Gasket, or equivalent. 3. Reverse removal procedure and fill radiator with coolant and install drive belts. NOTE: ^ Be careful not to spill coolant over engine compartment. Use a rag to absorb excess coolant. ^ After installing water pump, connect hoses and clamps securely, then check for leaks using radiator cap tester.

2002 Altima (L31) with 2.5 Liter Engine (QR25DE) Only 2002 Sentra (B15) with 2.5 Liter Engine (QR25DE) OnlyIf an applied vehicle exhibits one or more of the following symptoms; ^ MIL “ON” with DTC P0340 (Camshaft Position Sensor) stored in Self Diagnosis results, ^ Engine stumbles momentarily during cruise condition, ^ Engine stops running at idle, The cause of this incident may be the ignition coils. A new resistor assembly (located inside the ignition coil tube) is available to repair the described symptoms, if they should occur. SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Verify that the vehicle has one or more of the symptoms listed above in the Service Information. 2. Remove all four ignition coils. Refer to the appropriate 2002 Service Manual for removal procedure of the ignition coils (page EM-26 for Altima, page EM-106 for Sentra). 3. Install the new resistor assembly in all four ignition coil tubes as follows;

CAUTION: When removing water pump assembly, be careful not to get coolant on drive belt. Water pump cannot be disassembled and should be replaced as a unit. After Installing water pump, connect hose and clamp securely, then check for leaks using radiator cap tester. 1. Drain coolant from drain plugs on radiator and both sides of cylinder block. 2. Remove drain plug on cylinder block. 3. Remove right side engine mounting, mounting bracket and nuts. 4. Remove drive belts and idler pulley bracket. 5. Remove chain tensioner cover and water pump cover.6. Pushing timing chain tensioner sleeve, apply a stopper pin so it does not return. Then remove the chain tensioner assembly. 7. Remove the 3 water pump fixing bolts. Secure a gap between water pump gear and timing chain, by turning crankshaft pulley 2O° backwards. 8. Put M8 bolts to two M8-threaded holes out of 3 water pump fixing bolt holes.9. Tighten M8 bolts by turning half turn alternately until they reach timing chain rear case. In order to prevent damages to water pump or timing chain rear case, do not tighten one bolt continuously. Always turn each bolt half turn each time. 10. Lift up water pump and remove it. When lifting up water pump, do not allow water pump gear to hit timing chain. INSPECTION 1. Check for badly rusted or corroded body assembly. 2. Check for rough operation due to excessive end play.
