Tools Required J 39637 Wiper Arm Puller Removal Procedure Fig. 37: Removing/Installing Wiper Arm 1. Open and support the hood. 2. Disconnect the washer hose from the front washer pump hose (5). 3. Remove the wiper arm nut cover (3). 4. Remove the wiper arm nut (4). Fig. 38: Removing Wiper Arm 5. Using the J 39637, remove the wiper arm from the wiper drive system module. 1. Before proceeding, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . 2. Remove driver-side air bag module. See AIR BAG MODULES . Scribe mark on steering shaft and steering wheel to ensure proper alignment during installation. Remove steering wheel nut. Using Steering Wheel Puller (J-1859-A) remove steering wheel. Installation 1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Route wiring through steering wheel. Align mark on steering wheel with mark on shaft, then install nut. Tighten nut to 29 ft. lbs. (40 N.m). Install driver-side air bag module. See AIR BAG MODULES . 2. Activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Check system for proper operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
