CHECK THAT PEDAL HEIGHT IS CORRECT Pedal height from floor panel: 42.8-152.8 mm (5.62-6.02 in.) If the pedal height is incorrect, adjust it. IF NECESSARY, ADJUST PEDAL HEIGHT (a) Remove the under cover. (b) Remove the lower pad and air duct. (c) Remove the power steering ECU and disconnect the connector from the stop light switch. (d) Loosen the stop light switch lock nut and remove the stop light switch. (e) Loosen the push rod lock nut. (f) Adjust the pedal height by turning the pedal push rod. (g) Tighten the push rod lock nut. Torque: 25 N?m (260 kgf?cm, 19 ft?lbf) (h) Install the stop light switch and turn it until it lightly contacts the pedal stopper. (i) Return the stop light switch one turn. (j) Check that the clearance (A) between stop light switch and pedal. Clearance: 1.5-2.6 mm (0.06-0.10 in.) (k) Tighten the stop light switch lock nut.

Temporary Driving Conditions: 1. The ABS indicator light comes on and the ABS con- trol unit memorizes the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) under certain conditions. NOTE: The DTCs are explained on page 19-56. • The tire(s) adhesion is lost due to excessive cor- nering speed. DTC: 5, 5-4, 5-8. • The vehicle loses traction when starting from a stuck condition on a muddy, snowy, or sandy road. DTC: 4-1, 4-2, 4-4, 4-8. • When the parking brake is applied for more than 30 seconds while the vehicle is being driven. DTC: 2-1. • The vehicle is driven on an extremely rough road. The ABS is OK, if the ABS indicator light goes off after the engine is restarted.

ON?VEHICLE INSPECTION 1. INSPECT INJECTOR OPERATION Check operation sound from each injector. (a) With the engine running or cranking, use a sound scope to check that there is normal operating noise in proportion to engine rpm. (b) If you have no sound scope, you can check the injector transmission operation with your finger. If no sound or unusual sound is heard, check the wiring connector, injector or injection signal from the ECU. 2. INSPECT INJECTOR RESISTANCE (a) Disconnect the injector connector. (b) Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. Resistance: Approx. 13.8W If the resistance is not as specified, replace the injector. (c) Reconnect the injector connector.

Remove the six bolts that attach the drive plate cover and remove the cover. 3. Insert the pins of the drive plate spanner into the threaded holes of the drive plate. Hold the drive plate securely while removing the retaining nut. See Fig. 2 . 4. Using the drive-plate puller, thread the three puller bolts into the drive plate. Turn the center screw clockwise to loosen and remove the drive plate. See Fig. 3. 5. Remove the pulley bearing dust cover (if equipped), the shaft key, and the clutch shims. Use a slotted screwdriver and hammer to tap the shaft key loose. See Fig. 4 .
