Special Tool(s) Fluid Fill Reference NOTE: The left side of case is shown. The fill plug is on the right side of the extension housing. Check 1. Using the scan tool (WDS), monitor the transmission fluid temperature (TFT) using PID: TFT. 2. Start the vehicle. 3. Engine idle speed should be approximately at 650 rpm. Run engine until the recommended TFT is between 27°C and 49°C (80°F – 120°F) . The fluid level can be checked above 50°C (122°F) using this procedure. 4. Move the selector lever slowly, stopping in each gear. 5. Place selector lever in the PARK position. 6. Raise and support the vehicle. 7. Set vehicle as close to level as possible. Optional, if needed, the special tool can be used to assist in leveling the vehicle. 9. NOTE: It will be necessary to hold the drain plug (larger plug) with a wrench when removing the fluid level indicator plug. With the transmission in the PARK position and the engine running, use a 3/16 inch Allen key to remove the fluid level indicator plug. 10. Allow the fluid to drain. Wait approximately one minute. When the fluid comes out as a thin stream or a drip, it is at the correct level. 11. If no fluid comes out of the hole, fluid will need to be added. Continue with this procedure.
