Linkage Measurement CAUTION: Before attempting to test the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), verify the linkage adjustment dimension shown in the figure above. This dimension MUST be 126.5 mm (5.0 inches) BEFORE testing. For linkage adjustment procedures, refer to Throttle Linkage Adjustment. CAUTION: Before testing the TPS, verify that the engine is set at correct low idle speed. Refer to Idle Speed Adjustment. This can be found in the Fuel Delivery and Air Induction system adjustments section. 1. After confirming the correct linkage adjustment and idle speed, proceed to the following: Throttle Position Sensor Location 2. Attach a paper clip into the center terminal of the TPS electrical connector. Do not remove the connector from the TPS for this test. 3. Attach the positive lead of a voltmeter to this paper clip and the negative lead to a good ground. 4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Do not start engine. 5. The voltage at the TPS center terminal should be 1.0 volt (+/- 0.2 volt) with linkage at idle position. The voltage at the wide open throttle position

Removal Procedure 1. Remove the upper fan shroud. 2. Install the J 46406 to the fan clutch. 3. Remove the fan hub nut from the water pump in a counterclockwise rotation. 4. Remove the fan clutch bolts from the rear of the fan blade. 5. Separate the fan clutch from the fan blade. Installation Procedure 1. Install the fan clutch bolts from the rear of the fan blade. 2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Install the fan clutch bolts. Tighten the bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). 3. Install the fan assembly. 4. Install the J 46406 to the fan clutch. Tighten the nut clockwise to 56 Nm (41 ft. lbs.). 5. Install the upper fan shroud.

Speed nut (4x) Bolt (4x) Screws (2x) Decorative panel Armrest, lower part Bolt Expanding nut (4x) Door trim – Removing: – Remove lower part of armrest – 5 -. – Remove bolts – 3 – (2x) from door trim – 8 -. – Remove bolts – 6 – from door trim – 8 -. – Unclip decorative panel – 4 -. – Remove decorative panel – 4 – toward front. – Remove bolts – 2 – (4x) from door trim – 8 -. – Unclip door trim – 8 -. – Raise door trim – 8 – upward approx. 20 cm out from door shell. Disengage Bowden cable for interior door mechanism Disconnect electrical harness connectors – Installation: Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Note the following: – When installing, speed nuts – 1 – (4x) for expanding nuts – 7 – (4x) must be clipped in. – When installing, door trim must be pressed in the middle to door shell. Disengaging Bowden cable – Disconnect circlip – 3 -. – Pull Bowden cable – 1 – out of guide – 2 – and disengage. NOTE: When installing make sure that catch – 3 – faces upward. IMPORTANT: Inspect the fuel tank internally and clean the fuel tank if you find a restricted fuel filter. 1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure. 2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle. 3. Clean all the fuel filter connections and the surrounding areas before disconnecting the fuel pipes in order to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system. 4. Disconnect the threaded fittings (1, 2) from the fuel filter. 5. Remove the fuel filter bracket bolt (4). 6. Cap the fuel pipes in order to prevent possible fuel system contamination. 7. Slide the fuel filter from the bracket. 8. Inspect the fuel pipe O-rings for cuts, nicks, swelling, or distortion. Replace the O-rings if necessary. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Slide the fuel filter into the bracket. 2. Remove the caps from the fuel pipes. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. 3. Connect the threaded fittings (1, 2) to the fuel filter. Tighten ^ Tighten the fittings to 25 N.m (18 lb ft)Tighten the fuel filter bracket bolt (4), to 12 N.m (106 lb in). 4. Lower the vehicle. 5. Tighten the fuel filler cap. 6. Connect the negative battery cable. 7. Use the following procedure in order to Inspect for leaks. 7.1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF, for 2 seconds. 7.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds. 7.3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 7.4. Inspect for fuel leaks. 7.5. Install the engine sight shield
