Window Regulator, Power Front Door—Town Car Removal 1. CAUTION: When servicing front door power window regulator minus motor (23208), regulator cable tension must not be altered. Cable tension is preset at production. Improper adjustment may result in premature front door power window regulator failure or erratic operation. CAUTION: Be careful not to drill through the window regulator behind inner door panel. Additional repairs may be necessary. If front door window glass (21410) is in the down position and is inoperable, a through f must be taken; if front door window glass is operational, proceed to Step 2. a. Remove front door trim panel (23942) and front door trim shield (237A04). Refer to Section 01-05. b. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01. c. CAUTION: Be careful not to strike or scratch front door window glass. Remove three 1/4 inch rivets retaining window regulator electric drive (23394) to inner panel. d. Working through front access hole in inner panel, remove three screws from window regulator electric drive. e. Separate window regulator electric drive from front door power window regulator minus motor. Raise front door window glass by hand and secure using tape. f. Proceed to Step 2. 2. Remove front door window glass as outlined. 3. Disconnect window regulator electric drive wiring connector. 4. Remove two upper front door power window regulator retaining nuts. 5. NOTE: Use care not to enlarge sheet metal holes in the door inner panel. Remove two 1/4-inch rivets retaining front door power window regulator minus motor to inner door panel. 6. Remove front door power window regulator minus motor from front door (20124). Installation 1. Lubricate front door power window regulator minus motor with Teflon® Lubricant E7FZ-19590-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESB-M1C111-A as outlined. 2. Install front door power window regulator minus motor into access hole in inner panel. 3. Position front door power window regulator minus motor using upper front door power window regulator studs and tabs on window regulator electric drive mounting bracket. 4. Install rivets retaining front door power window regulator minus motor to door inner panel (1/4-20 x 1/2 inch screw and 1/4-20 nut and washer assemblies or equivalent metric fasteners may be used as alternates). 5. Install two upper front door power window regulator retaining nuts. 6. Install Front Door Window Glass as outlined. 7. Adjust Front Door Window Glass as outlined. 8. Install front door trim shield and front door trim panel. Refer to Section 01-05. Front Door—Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis Removal 1. If front door window glass is in the down position and is inoperable, the following steps must be taken; if front door window glass is operational, go to Step 2. a. Remove front door trim panel and front door trim shield. Refer to Section 01-05. b. Disconnect battery ground cable. Refer to Section 14-01. c. Disconnect window regulator electric drive wires. d. CAUTION: Be careful not to strike or scratch front door window glass because it could break. Remove window regulator electric drive retaining screws through holes. e. Remove window regulator electric drive from front door power window regulator minus motor.

1. Remove the heater air plenum chamber (18471) assembly as outlined. 2. Remove the four retaining screws from the heater core cover (18B300) and remove the heater core cover from the heater air plenum chamber assembly. Heater Core Removal 3. Pull the heater core (18476) assembly from the heater air plenum chamber assembly. Installation 1. Carefully install heater core assembly into the heater air plenum chamber assembly. Visually check to ensure that heater core case seal (18658) is properly positioned. 2. Position the heater core cover and install the four retaining screws. 3. Install the heater air plenum chamber assembly as outlined. Heater Air Plenum Chamber Removal 1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01. 2. Disconnect the heater water hoses (18472) from the heater core tubes. Plug the ends of the heater water hoses to prevent coolant loss. 3. Plug heater core tubes securely to prevent coolant leakage from heater core (18476) during heater air plenum chamber removal. 4. Remove three nuts located below the windshield wiper motor (17508) retaining the LH end of the heater air plenum chamber (18471) to the dash panel (01610). 5. Remove one nut retaining the upper LH corner of the A/C evaporator core housing (19A559) to the dash panel. 6. Remove LH and RH lower instrument panel insulators. 7. Disconnect two vacuum supply hoses from vacuum source. Push grommet and vacuum supply hose into passenger compartment. 8. Remove all instrument panel retaining screws and pull the instrument panel (04320) back as far as possible without disconnecting any wire harnesses. 9. Loosen the RH door sill plate and remove the RH side cowl trim panel. 10. Remove cross body brace and disconnect wiring harness from A/C electronic door actuator motor (19E616) and disconnect the sensor tube from the evaporator case connector. 11. Disconnect the vacuum jumper harness at the multiple vacuum connector near the heater outlet floor duct (18C433). 12. Disconnect the white vacuum hose from the heater and A/C air inlet duct door vacuum

Remove the screw from behind the interior door handle Slide out the door handle trim as shown Removing the door panel from the passenger side door View of the inside of the door, panel removed 1. Remove the screw from the door handle trim. 2. Slide the handle assembly forward and out to access the lock rod clip. 3. Release the clip 4. Disconnect the door lock switch 5. Remove the door opener handle assembly. 6. Carefully pry at the small opening on the bottom of the speaker grill. 7. Remove the speaker grille.
8. Remove the speaker mounting screws. 9. Detach the electrical connector and remove the speaker. 10. Remove the screws in the armrest. 11. Remove the center from the trim clip at the upper front of the door panel and remove the
clip. 12. Using a suitable trim panel removal tool, unsnap the door panel from the door frame. 13. Carefully lift the door panel up and away from the door frame.

Removal 1. Remove outside rear view mirror remote control unit. 2. Remove window regulator control switch housing by gently prying up, starting at the front. 3. Disconnect all connectors from window regulator control switch housing. 4. Remove inside door handle cup by gently prying at screwdriver slot with a screwdriver. 5. Remove screw directly beneath inside door handle. 6. Remove lower self-tapping screw retaining front door trim panel to door inner panel. 7. Remove rectangular plug in trim panel upper front extension and depress finger bracket with screwdriver. 8. Lift front door trim panel upward and snap out trim panel. 9. Disconnect wire harnesses from door panel as required and remove front door trim panel. Installation 1. Connect wire harnesses to front door trim panel as required. 2. Install front door trim panel by pushing in and down until it snaps into place. 3. Install all self-tapping screws retaining front door trim panel to door inner panel. 4. Install inside door handle cup. 5. Install window regulator control switch housing. 6. Install outside rearview mirror remote control unit.

DESCRIPTION & OPERATION Heating and ventilation system is a blend type system. A heater control valve is not used. Coolant flows unrestricted through heater core. Interior temperature is regulated by a blend door which controls amount of air flowing through heater core. Blend door is operated by a cable connected to temperature control knob. Three knobs are used to control blower speed, air temperature, and air distribution. Fresh air blower has 4 speeds. Blower motor resistor is located on blower motor housing. ADJUSTMENTS MAIN SHUTOFF FLAP CABLE Install heater control panel. Adjust blower control knob to stop at position “0″. Connect main shutoff flap cable (Black sleeve) to main shutoff flap lever. Push lever in direction of arrow until it stops. See Fig. 1. Hold lever in this position, and install cable retaining clip. TEMPERATURE FLAP CABLE Install heater control panel. Adjust temperature control knob to full cold. Connect temperature flap cable (Blue sleeve) to temperature flap lever. Push lever in direction of arrow until it stops. See Fig. 2. FOOTWELL/DEFROST FLAP CABLE Install heater control panel. Adjust airflow distribution knob to defrost position (against stop). Connect footwell/defrost flap cable (Black sleeve) to footwell/defrost flap lever. Push lever in direction of arrow until it stops. See Fig. 3.
