POWER DOOR LOCKS All doors can be locked and unlocked from either front door using control switch or door key. When you unlock driver’s door with door key, if you turn key once, only driver’s door will unlock. If you turn key twice within 3 seconds, all doors will unlock. KEY CONFINEMENT PREVENTION SYSTEM If driver leaves key in ignition, opens door, then tries to lock doors using control switch (on door panel), system will not allow doors to be locked. This prevents key from being locked inside vehicle. OPERATION POWER DOOR LOCKS Door Key Switch (Door Key Lock & Unlock Switch) This switch is part of door key cylinder. When lock cylinder is turned to LOCK or UNLOCK position, contacts inside this switch close. Door Lock Control Switch All doors can be locked and unlocked using control switch on driver’s side or passenger’s side. Door Lock Motors Each door contains a door lock motor (an electric actuator) that locks and unlocks door. Door lock motor assembly contains a door unlock detection switch and a door open detection switch.

Removal Procedure 1. Place window in the full up position. 2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement – Side Front Door (See: Front Door Panel\Service and Repair\Front Door Panel Replacement) . 3. Remove the rear push in retainer on the water deflector. 4. Peel water deflector away from door panel far enough to access the outside door handle. Refer to Water Deflector, Check Link Replacement – Front Door (See: Front Door Panel\Service and Repair\Front Door Panel Components) . 5. Disconnect the outside door handle rod (1) by opening the retainer (2) at the door latch. 6. Remove the outside door handle cap screw access plug from the door. 7. Remove the screw securing the outside door handle cap. 8. Open the door handle slightly then remove the cap. 9. Raise the outside door handle counterbalance weight and remove the outside door handle by rocking outboard and sliding rearward. 10. Remove the gaskets.

Trim Panel Replacement – Side Front Door Tools Required J 36796 Clip Zip Clip Removal Tool Removal Procedure 1. Lower the window. 2. Remove the door bezel trim cover. 3. Insert a flat-bladed tool at the bottom of the trim cover flap and pry up to access the screws. 4. Remove the door trim panel screws. 5. Use the J 36796 to release the retainers (1) from around the outside edges of the door trim panel. 6. Slide the door trim panel upwards to release it from the door. 7. Disconnect the door handle cables. Installation Procedure 1. Slide the electrical connector (2) into position on the water deflector. 2. Connect the door handle cables. 3. Align the alignment datums (1) and the electrical connector with the door. 4. Install the door trim panel by applying pressure around the door trim panel to secure the retainers (1) to the door.

When the battery or the power has been removed from the front door module, the front door module will need to be reprogrammed after power is restored and all repairs are completed. 1. Remove the door trim panel. Remove the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement () . 3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement – Front Door (See: Body and Frame\Doors, Hood and Trunk\Front Door Panel\Service and Repair\Front Door Panel Components) .

Remove the screw from behind the interior door handle Slide out the door handle trim as shown Removing the door panel from the passenger side door View of the inside of the door, panel removed 1. Remove the screw from the door handle trim. 2. Slide the handle assembly forward and out to access the lock rod clip. 3. Release the clip 4. Disconnect the door lock switch 5. Remove the door opener handle assembly. 6. Carefully pry at the small opening on the bottom of the speaker grill. 7. Remove the speaker grille.
8. Remove the speaker mounting screws. 9. Detach the electrical connector and remove the speaker. 10. Remove the screws in the armrest. 11. Remove the center from the trim clip at the upper front of the door panel and remove the
clip. 12. Using a suitable trim panel removal tool, unsnap the door panel from the door frame. 13. Carefully lift the door panel up and away from the door frame.
