Actuator Recalibration When replacing the HVAC control module it will be necessary to allow the HVAC control module to perform a calibration process. When installing the HVAC control module be sure to perform the following: Important: Do not adjust any controls on the HVAC control module while the HVAC control module is self-calibrating. If interrupted, improper HVAC performance will result. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Place the ignition switch to the OFF position. Disconnect the scan tool. Install the HVAC control module. Connect all previously disconnected components. Start the vehicle. Wait 40 seconds for the HVAC control module to self-calibrate. Verify that no DTCs have set as current DTCs. When replacing the HVAC actuator it will be necessary to allow the HVAC control module to perform a calibration process. When installing the HVAC actuator be sure to perform one of the following: Important: Do not adjust any controls on the HVAC control module while the HVAC control module is self-calibrating. If interrupted, improper HVAC performance will result. Preferred Method (w/ Scan Tool) Clear all DTCs. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position. Install the HVAC actuator. Connect all previously disconnected components. Start the vehicle. With the scan tool, initiate the Motor Re-calibration feature of the Heating and Air Conditioning Special Functions menu. 7. Remove the HVAC module. 2. 3. 4. 5. Disconnect the electrical connector (3) from the mode actuator (4). Remove the screws from the mode actuator (4). Remove the mode actuator (4) from the HVAC module (1). Remove the wiring harness from the air distribution housing (1). 6. Remove the screws from the air distribution housing (1). 7. Remove the air distribution housing (1) from the HVAC module (2). 8. Remove the screws from the upper recirculation housing (1). 9. Remove the upper recirculation housing (1) from the HVAC module (2). 10. Remove the screws from the lower recirculation housing (1). 11. Remove the lower recirculation housing (1) from the HVAC module (2). 12. Remove the wiring harness from the HVAC module. 13. Remove the screws from the HVAC module. 14. Remove the upper HVAC module case (1) from the lower HVAC module case (2). 15. Remove the right temperature door (2) from the upper HVAC module case (1). INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

RECIRCULATION ACTUATOR REPLACEMENT (VISTEON) REMOVAL PROCEDURE 1. Remove the HVAC module assembly. 2. Remove the screws from the evaporator core cover (1). 3. Remove the evaporator core cover (1) from the HVAC module assembly (2). 4. Remove the screws from the recirculation actuator (1). 5. Remove the recirculation actuator (1) from the HVAC module assembly (2). INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Install the recirculation actuator (1) to the HVAC module assembly (2). 2. Install the screws to the recirculation actuator (1). NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in) . 3. Install the evaporator core cover (1) to the HVAC module assembly (2). 4. Install the screws to the evaporator core cover (1). Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in) . 5. Install the HVAC module assembly. 6. Reprogram the recirculation actuator. Refer to Re-Calibrating Actuators, See: Testing and Inspection\Programming and Relearning\Actuator Recalibration – HVAC

Removal Procedure 1. Remove the seat back from the vehicle. Refer to Seat Back Replacement – Rear (Standard) (See: Seat Back Replacement – Rear (Standard))Seat Back Replacement – Rear (WC2, WC8) (See: Seat Back Replacement – Rear (WC2, WC8)) . 2. Remove the pass through fasteners (1). 3. Remove the pass through from the seat back. Installation Procedure 1. Support the seat back by the lower mounting attachments in order to avoid the pass through door from binding after the fasteners are tightened. 2. Install the pass through to the seat back. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices. 3. Install the pass through fasteners (1) and tighten to: Tighten the lower pass through fasteners to 11.75 N.m (104 lb in). Tighten the upper pass through fasteners (1) to 7 N.m (62 lb in). 4. Ensure the pass through door operates properly. 5. Install the seat back into the vehicle. Tools Required J 44643 Flywheel Holding Tool Removal Procedure 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Single Battery) or Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure (Auxiliary Battery) in Engine Electrical. 2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information. 3. Remove the right fender wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement In Body Front End. 4. Remove the starter motor bolts and set aside. The wiring to the starter does not require removal.5. Install J 44643 in order to lock the flywheel.6. Lower the vehicle. 7. Remove the upper and lower fan shroud. Refer to Fan Shroud Replacement – Upper (W/O M74) or Fan Shroud Replacement – Upper (W/M74) or Fan Shroud Replacement – Upper (W/HP2) and Fan Shroud Replacement – Lower in Engine Cooling. 8. Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt.Remove the crankshaft balancer. The balancer is a slip fit design and should slide off. If the balancer can be turned side to side the pin in the crankshaft is worn and the pin should be replaced.If required, clean and inspect the balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Cleaning and Inspection .
