Trim Panels, Mouldings And Fasteners NOTE: Floor console with navigation shown, floor console without navigation similar. Trim Panels And Fasteners NOTE: Floor console with navigation shown, floor console without navigation similar. Removal and Installation 1. Place the selector lever in the NEUTRAL position. 2. Position the front seats to the full rearward and downward positions. 3. Pull the middle and rear of the floor console LH and RH lower trim panels outward to release the retaining clips. 4. NOTICE: Damage to the floor console upper trim panels may occur if cardboard is not used to remove the floor console lower trim panels. NOTE: Floor console LH lower trim panel shown, floor console RH lower trim panel similar. Position a piece of cardboard between the floor console LH and RH lower trim panels and floor console. 5. Remove the floor console LH lower trim panel. Push the floor console LH lower trim panel toward the front of the vehicle to detach the trim panel from the pin-type retainer. 6. Remove the floor console RH lower trim panel. Pull the floor console RH lower trim panel down toward the floor of the vehicle to detach the trim panel from the pin-type retainer. 7. Position the front seats forward. 8. Remove the 2 floor console lower rear screws. 9. Position the front seats rearward. 10. Remove the steering column opening trim panel in the following sequence. 1. Remove the 2 steering column opening trim panel screws. 2. Pull the steering column opening trim panel down toward the floor of the vehicle to release the retaining clips. 11. Remove the floor console LH and RH finish mouldings in the following sequence. 1. Lift up the rear of the floor console finish mouldings to release the retaining clips from the floor console. 2. Pull the floor console finish mouldings toward the rear of the vehicle to release the retaining clips from the center instrument finish panel. 3. Disconnect the trunk release switch and start/stop button electrical connector, if equipped. NOTICE: Damage to the floor console may occur if cardboard is not used to remove the floor console upper trim panel. NOTE: Floor console LH upper trim panel shown, floor console RH upper trim panel similar. 12. Remove the floor console LH upper trim panel in the following sequence. 1. Pull the rear of the floor console LH upper trim panel away from the floor console, releasing the retaining clips. 2. Position a piece of cardboard between the floor console LH upper trim panel and floor console. 3. Pull the floor console LH upper trim panel toward the rear of the vehicle to release the retaining clips from the instrument panel. 13. Remove the 2 pushpin carpet retainers, 4 floor console lower front and middle screws. 14. Remove the selector lever bezel. For additional information, refer to Section 307-05. 15. Remove the media bin/storage compartment in the following sequence. 1. Remove the 4 screws and lift up the media bin/storage compartment. 2. Disconnect the electrical connector(s). 16. Disconnect the floor console bulkhead electrical connector. 17. Detach the wire harness pin-type retainer from the floor console. 18. Remove the 2 floor console upper bolts. 19. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the selector lever.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-00. 2. If servicing the radiator, drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section. 3. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustrations and tables. 4. To install, reverse the removal procedure. If servicing the radiator, fill the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section. Item 9: Lower Degas Bottle Hose Removal Note 1. Remove the lower degas bottle hose from the clip on the radiator lower fan shroud. Item 10: A/C Tube Removal Note 1. On 4.6L engines, detach the A/C tube from the retainers. Item 11: Transmission Cooler and A/C Tubes Removal Note 1. Disconnect the transmission cooler tubes. Remove the safety retainers from the transmission cooler tubes. Using the special tool, disconnect the quick coupler. If equipped, loosen and remove the screw clamp from the hose. 2. Remove the A/C tube brackets from the engine front cover. Item 12: Radiator Fan Shroud Screw Removal Note 1. Not all vehicles will have these radiator fan shroud screws. If vehicle is equipped with these screws, please discard them. Item 15: Cooling Fan Removal Note 1. CAUTION: Cardboard must be placed against the radiator when removing the cooling fan. Failure to follow these procedures can result in damage to the vehicle. Place a piece of cardboard against the radiator to prevent damage while removing the cooling fan. 2. Using the special tools, remove the fan blade and the clutch assembly. Item 17: Radiator Lower Fan Shroud Removal Note 1. Remove the power steering tube from the clip on the radiator lower fan shroud. Item 19: Radiator Bracket Bolt Removal Note 1. If necessary, remove the radiator brackets. Item 21: A/C Condenser Support Bracket Bolt Removal Note 1. If necessary, remove the condenser brackets. Item 22: Radiator Removal Note 1. NOTE: It will be necessary to lift the radiator assembly up off the mounts and set it on the frame in order to separate the A/C condenser from the radiator. NOTE: RH side shown, LH side similar. Remove the radiator up off the mounts and set it on the frame. 2. Remove the left inner air deflector from the A/C condenser. 3. Remove the right inner air deflector from the A/C condenser.

1. On 4 seat models, rear console assembly must be removed prior to removing center console. 2. Remove RH instrument lower cover. 3. Remove instrument passenger lower panel and glove box assembly. 4. Remove lower driver instrument panel. 5. Remove shift knob and M/T or A/T console finisher. Disconnect illumination bulb and hazard switch harnesses. 6. Remove cluster lid C. 7. Pull up parking brake lever and remove parking brake finisher from center console. 8. Remove screws from center console. Disconnect electrical harnesses. 9. Move front seats forward and remove center console assembly. 10. Remove cup holder insert from cup holder assembly 11. Disconnect clips, remove screw on each side and remove RH and LH console covers. 12. Remove console rear pocket. 13. Remove power point assembly. 14. Remove screws from hinge plate and remove lid assembly from console box. 15. Release clips and remove rear finisher assembly. Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-00. 2. If removing the upper front bumper, remove the headlights. For additional information, refer to Section 417-01. To remove individual parts, only carry out the listed steps: 3. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Item 3: Bolt Removal Note 1. Discard the 3 bolts after removal (install new bolts during installation) 2. Remove the LH bolt and grille stopper. 3. Remove the RH bolt and position aside the grille stopper. Item 10: Upper Front Bumper Removal Note 1. If equipped with wheel lip mouldings, remove the 4 nuts. 2. Remove the six pin-type fasteners. 3. Remove the 4 screws. 4. Position aside the splash shield. 5. Disconnect the 6 moulding clips. 6. Position aside the wheel lip mouldings. 7. Release the fascia retaining clips. Item 12: Fog Lamp Electrical Connector Removal Note 1. Detach the harness push pin from the fog lamp bracket. Item 13: Bumper Nut Removal Note 1. Discard the bumper nuts after removal (install new bumper nuts during installation). Item 15: Valance Panel Removal Note 1. If equipped, remove the fog lamps. For additional information, refer to Section 417-01. Item 17: License Plate Bracket Removal Note 1. Depress the tabs to release the bracket.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-00. 2. Remove the rear wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 204-00. 3. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. 4. To install, reverse the removal procedure. 5. Fill the axle with the specified quantity of the specified lubricant. For additional information, refer to the Specifications in this section. Item 2: Rear Disc Brake Caliper Removal Note 1. CAUTION: Do not allow the caliper to hang from the brake hose. Provide a suitable support. Position the rear disc brake caliper aside. For additional information, refer to Section 206-00. Item 7: Differential Pinion Shaft Removal Note 1. Move the differential pinion shaft out far enough to remove the U-washers. Replace the shaft and install the lock bolt finger tight when U-washers are removed. Item 8: U-washer Removal Note 1. CAUTION: Do not damage the rubber O-rings in the axle shaft grooves. Remove the U-washers. 1. Push the axle shafts inboard. 2. Remove the U-washers. Item 10 and 11: Wheel Bearing Oil Seal and Axle Shaft Bearing Removal Note 1. CAUTION: Never remove the wheel bearing oil seal by itself. Always remove the wheel bearing oil seal and the rear wheel bearing at the same time. For the 8.8 inch rear axle, use the special tools to remove the rear wheel bearing and wheel bearing oil seal. 2. CAUTION: Never remove the wheel bearing oil seal by itself. Always remove the wheel bearing oil seal and the rear wheel bearing at the same time. For the 9.75 inch and the 10.25 inch rear axles, use the special tools to remove the rear wheel bearing and wheel bearing oil seal. Item 11: Axle Shaft Bearing Installation Note 1. For the 8.8 inch and the 9.75 inch rear axles, use the special tools to install the rear axle wheel bearing. 2. For the 10.25 inch rear axle, use the special tools shown to install the rear axle wheel bearing. Item 10: Wheel Bearing Oil Seal Installation Note 1. Use the special tools shown to install the rear wheel bearing oil seal. Item 8: U-washer Installation Note 1. CAUTION: Do not damage the rubber O-rings in the U-washer grooves. Install the U-washers. 1. Position the two U-washers on the button end of the axle shafts. 2. Pull the axle shafts outward.
