Engine Electrical > Firing Orders Firing Orders To avoid confusion, always replace spark plugs and wires one at a time. Replacing spark plugs and wires one at a time will help prevent incorrect wire routing or cross-firing resulting from an incorrect firing order. If more than one wire is to be disconnected at a single time, be sure to tag all of the cables to assure proper installation. Also, be disconnecting the cables, compare the firing order and routing to these diagrams and note any differences for installation purposes. This will help assure the wires are properly installed.

Engine miss, spark knock, buck/jerk, surge and other driveability concerns may be caused by induction crossfire. This occurs because of improperly routed spark plug wires. ACTION: If spark plug replacement is performed, the correct firing order and spark plug wire routing is essential to prevent the possibility of induction crossfire between cylinders. Refer to the following procedures for inspection of the spark plug wire routing and firing order. Properly reroute the spark plug wires if required. FIRING ORDER ^ The firing order for 1987-1993 vehicles is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. If # 7 and # 8, or # 2 and # 4 spark plug wires are routed next to each other at the separation bracket, an induction crossfire condition can occur. ^ The firing order for 1994 vehicles is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. On these vehicles the # 1 and # 3, or # 5 and # 6 spark plug wires must be separated to eliminate the possibility of an induction crossfire. ^ To eliminate the possibility of the coil wire becoming disconnected, route the coil wire under the spark plug wires at the distributor cap. 1987-1993 VEHICLES

Honda Odyssey & 2003-2006 Honda Pilot 2007 & 2008 Honda Pilot – Door panel removal procedures are different from previous models ā€“ see page 4. Open the driver side door and lower the window. Remove the door panel, kick panel, and plastic trim piece along the bottom of the door frame. 1) Open the driver side door and lower the window. Using a plastic pry bar, carefully remove corner trim. 2) Remove plastic cover in door release lever to reveal 2-screws. Remove these screws with a Phillips screwdriver. 3) Pry loose the control panel. Disconnect all wiring connections behind control panel and remove control panel. Remove the revealed screw behind control panel. 4) Remove screw hidden below the grab bar. Carefully pull on door panel until all snap inserts, around the perimeter of door panel, pop loose. 5) Hold door panel slightly away from door frame. Disconnect all wiring connections behind door panel. 6) Remove release lever rod from behind door panel. Remove and set aside door panel.
