The MIL is on with PGM-FI DTC P0507 stored, and/or the idle is slightly higher than expected when started cold. PROBABLE CAUSE The PCM software misinterprets inputs for the PGM-FI idle air control setting. CORRECTIVE ACTION Use the HDS to update the ECM/PCM PGM-FI software. SOFTWARE INFORMATION Accord: HDS software version 2.005.004 (or later) Element: HDS software version 2.005.008 (or later) REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Update the PGM-FI software (refer to Service Bulletin 01-023, Updating Control Units/Modules). 2. Verify the ECM/PCM PGM-FI software update repaired the vehicle by starting the engine and letting it idle for 3 minutes, then use the HDS to check the DTC P0507 in OBD STATUS. • In HDS, click on Honda Systems.

SYMPTOM When the brakes are applied normally, the driver feels a juddering vibration through the steering wheel or brake pedal, and/or hears a squealing noise.CORRECTIVE ACTION Refinish the front brake discs, and install new brake pads with V-springs. NOTE: If the vehicle already has V springs and the NS263H or NF87P brake pads installed, this service bulletin does not apply. Proceed with normal troubleshooting. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Remove some brake fluid from the master cylinder. 2. Raise and support the vehicle. 3. Remove the front wheels. 4. Remove the front brake hose mounting bolt. BRAKE HOSE MOUNTING BOLT FLANGE BOLT7. Check the brake disc thickness. Maximum refinishing limit: 26.0 mm (1.02 in) 8. If the disc is within the service limit for refinishing, refinish it with a Honda-approved, commercially available on-car brake lathe. If the disc is not within the service limit, replace the disc. 9. Apply a thin coat of M-77 assembly paste to the retainer mating surface of the caliper bracket. 10. Install the pad retainers, then wipe off any excess assembly paste. 11. Mount the brake caliper piston compressor tool on the caliper body. 12. Press in the piston with the compressor tool so the caliper will fit over the brake pads. Make sure the piston boot is in position to prevent damaging it when pivoting the caliper down.

2003 Honda Accord EX 2003-04 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS’ ‘A/T Interlock System – Accord NO -Repair faulty brake light circuit. 2. Connect the HDS to the DLC. Check engine speed and throttle position in the A/T data list. Is the engine speed at idle, and TPS about 0.5 V? NO -Repair engine speed or throttle position input. 3. Select SHIFT LOCK SOL TEST in MISC. TEST MENU, then carry out shift lock solenoid function test. Does the shift lock solenoid work properly? YES -System circuit is OK. Check the shift lock mechanism, if necessary. Remove the center console (See CENTER CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ). Disconnect the shift lock solenoid connector. Measure the voltage between No. 1 terminal of the shift lock solenoid connector and body ground.

SYMPTOM When the engine is first started after the vehicle has sat overnight, customers may “feel” the release of the throttle plate through the accelerator pedal. Some describe it as a one-time “pop” sensation. Customers may have trouble explaining this phenomenon because: They can’t repeat it because it only happens one time, when the engine is cold. The accelerator pedal works normally at all other times. There are no other symptoms. It may be intermittent, happening only during cooler weather. PROBABLE CAUSE The symptom is caused by normal buildup of contaminants in the throttle bore, combined with expansion and contraction of the throttle body. CORRECTIVE ACTION Partially remove the throttle body, and clean it with Honda carburetor cleaner or throttle plate and induction cleaner. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Remove the breather tube from the air intake duct, unclip the vacuum lines from the duct, and remove the duct from the throttle body. See Fig. 1 . Fig. 1: Removing Air Intake Duct 2. Disconnect the TPS and MAP connectors from the throttle body. 3. Remove the throttle cable and, if equipped, the cruise control actuator cable from the throttle body. 4. Remove the throttle body mounting nuts and bolts, then slide the throttle body off its studs on the intake manifold chamber. Leave the coolant hoses connected. See Fig. 2 . 5. Put a shop towel under the throttle body, open the throttle, then clean out any contaminants from the intake manifold side of the throttle body with carburetor cleaner or throttle plate and induction cleaner. See Fig. 3 . NOTE: To avoid damaging the idle air control valve (IACV), spray the cleaner through the back of the throttle body, not the front.

SYMPTOM The center pocket lid rubs, does not open, or opens but does not stay closed. PROBABLE CAUSE The center pocket is misaligned or incorrectly assembled. DIAGNOSIS Try to open and close the center pocket lid. • If the lid rubs against the dashboard, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE A: CENTER POCKET REALIGNMENT. • If the lid does not open, or it opens but does not stay closed, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE B: CENTER POCKET SCREW TIGHTENING/CENTER POCKET REPLACEMENT. REPAIR PROCEDURE A: CENTER POCKET REALIGNMENT 1. Remove the center pocket assembly: • Refer to page 20-132 of the 2003–2007 Accord Service Manual, or • Online, enter keyword POCKET, and select Dashboard Center Pocket Removal/ Installation from the list. 2. Using a round file, elongate the right mounting screw hole as shown. NOTE: Do not use a file larger than 4.0 mm, and do not elongate the hole more than 4.0 mm. 3. Reinstall the center pocket assembly, but don’t tighten the mounting screws yet.
