NOTE: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Recognition 1. ABS control unit recognizes system related problems and causes ABS warning light to come on and stay on under any of following conditions: Vehicle is driven with parking brake on longer than 30 seconds. One rear wheel is locked. Wheel speed sensor does not transmit a signal. Vehicle is driven on extremely rough road. Low battery voltage. Operation time of solenoid valves exceeds a specified value and control unit indicates an open circuit in solenoid circuit. Output signals from control unit are not transmitted to solenoid valves. Temporary loss of traction due to excessive cornering speed or starting from stuck condition (mud, snow or sand). 2. If ABS warning light comes on intermittently, use ABS Tester (07HAJ-SG0010B) to confirm problem. See ABS FUNCTION TEST under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. 3. ABS warning light comes on and trouble code is stored in control unit when insufficient battery voltage exists at control unit. If low battery voltage caused problem, recharge battery and clear trouble code(s). See CLEARING DTCs under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. ABS Warning Light Does Not Come On If ABS warning light does not come on when ignition is on: Check bulb. Check Yellow wire between fuse No. 1 and instrument cluster. Check Blue/White wire between instrument cluster and control unit. Check control unit ground circuit. ABS Warning Light Stays On Without DTCs If ABS warning light stays on and no DTCs have been stored in control unit, check for following items: Loose or poor control unit connector. Blown ABS fuse No. B2 in underhood fuse/relay box. Open circuit in White/Black wire between ABS fuse No. B2 and control unit. Open circuit in Yellow/Black wire between fuse No. 7 and fail-safe relays. ABS system is okay if ABS warning light goes out after engine is started.

Introduction The 2011 model year Camry is equipped with a direct-type Tire Pressure Warning System (TPWS). Each tire (except the spare tire) has a tire pressure warning valve/sensor that measures tire pressure data. The data is transmitted to the Tire Pressure Warning System antenna/receiver and then to the Tire Pressure Warning System ECU. During Pre-Delivery Service (PDS), the tire pressure warning valves/sensors must be activated for Japan-built vehicles by following the activation procedure in this TSB. NAP-built vehicles do not require activation, but both Japan-built and NAP-built vehicles require the TPWS to be initialized by following the initialization procedure in this TSB. Initialization Procedure NOTE Perform the following initialization procedure for BOTH NAP-built and Japan-built vehicles. 1. Cycle the ignition switch to the “IG–ON” mode and connect TIS techstream. 2. Adjust all tires (except the spare tire) to the standard tire in?ation pressure, as indicated on the Tire and Loading Information label located inside the driver’s door jamb and con?rm that the Low Tire Pressure Warning Light is OFF. NOTE To adjust tire pressure correctly when outside temperature is signi?cantly colder or warmer than shop temperature. Follow the procedures outlined in the Tire In?ation Pressure Compensation and Adjustment service bulletin (T-SB-0345-08). NOTE Adjust the tire pressure when the tires are cold. NAP-built: Remove the ID number labels that are attached to each wheel and discard.

Condition Some customers of 1999-2002 Chevrolet Malibu, Oldsmobile Alero, Pontiac Grand Am, and 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass may have turn signal/hazard flashers that become inoperative.Service Procedure The following procedure provides instructions for replacing the hazard warning switch located in the instrument panel (I/P). For additional information, refer to the Lighting subsection in the Body and Accessories section of the appropriate Service Manual or SI. Malibu 1. Remove the cover from the left side instrument panel (I/P) wiring harness junction block access panel. 2. Remove the AIR BAG fuse from the panel. 3. Remove the three screws attaching the lower steering column cover to the steering column. 4. Remove the upper steering column cover. 5. Remove the two screws that attach the IP cluster bezel to the IP. 6. Using a small flat-blade screwdriver, gently pry out and remove the IP cluster trim plate from the IP. 7. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the other switches in the trim plate. 8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the hazard warning switch. 9. Using a small flat-blade screwdriver, carefully push in on the tabs to release the hazard warning switch from the IP cluster trim plate. 10. Remove the hazard warning switch by pushing in an outward motion on the switch while holding onto the IP cluster trim plate. 11. Install the new hazard warning switch by pushing in an inward motion on the switch while holding onto the IP cluster trim plate. Push inward on the switch until it is fully seated into the IP cluster trim plate. 12. Connect the electrical connector to the hazard warning switch. 13. Connect the electrical connectors to the other switches in the trim plate. 14. Position and align the IP cluster trim plate to the IP and carefully press into place.

Resetting the PAX System Warning When a tire goes flat or, is very low on pressure, the multi-information display will show “PAX SYSTEM WARNING, RUN FLAT DRIVING.” After the tire is repaired or replaced, you must reset the warning indicator (and the mileage counter that supports it), no matter how far the vehicle was driven in the run flat mode. 1. To put the gauge control module into the self-diagnostic mode: Turn the headlight switch to ON. Press and hold the SELECT/RESET (instrument panel brightness) knob. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II). Within 5 seconds, turn the headlights to AUTO, then to ON, and then to AUTO again. Within 5 seconds, release the SELECT/RESET knob, then push and release the knob three times. 2. Once the gauge control module is in the self-diagnostic mode, press and hold the INFO button on the steering wheel for 5 seconds to get to the CUSTOMIZE MENU. 3. Use the INFO button to scroll through to the PAX RESET screen, then press the SEL/RESET button on the steering wheel. 4. Use the INFO button to scroll to the appropriate wheel, and then press the SEL/RESET button on the steering wheel to reset the PAX warning system display. The screen should read PAX RESET COMPLETED. Repeat this step for each wheel that needs to be reset. 5. Use the INFO button to scroll through to EXIT, then press the SEL/RESET button. 6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0) to exit the self-diagnostic mode.
