Important: The front and rear sections of the cooler lines can be serviced separately. Refer to the appropriate steps when servicing individual lines. Perform the following procedure when removing the cooler lines from the quick connect fittings. 1. Pull the plastic cap back from the quick connect fining and down along the cooler line about 5 cm (2 inch) . 2. Using a bent-tip screwdriver, pull on one of the open ends of the retaining ring in order to rotate the retaining ring around the quick connect fining until the retaining ring is out of position and can be completely removed. 3. Remove the retaining ring from the quick connect fitting. 4. Discard the retaining ring. 5. Pull the cooler line straight out from the quick connect fitting. Installation Procedure Important: Do not reuse any of existing fittings if there is excessive corrosion. Do not reuse any of the existing retaining rings that were removed from the existing quick connect fittings. All retaining rings being installed must be new. Ensure the following procedures are performed when installing the new retaining rings onto the fittings.

Disconnect the breather hose elbow from the intake tube. Loosen the two hose clamps that secure the intake tube to the throttlebody, and the mass air flow sensor. Remove the air intake tube. 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable! Remove the oil fill cap and set it aside. Lift straight up on the engine beauty cover and set it aside. Reinstall the oil fill cap after the beauty cover has been re- moved to prevent any foreign material from entering the crank- case. 3. Remove the four bolts that secure the throttlebody to the in- take manifold. 5. Install the provided bolts and washers thru the throttlebody and Poweraid Spacer and tighten to the manufacturer’s specifi- cations. 4. Install the Poweraid Spacer between the throttlebody and the intake manifold with the first supplied gasket next to the intake manifold, and the second supplied gasket next to the throttle- body as shown. Make sure the “flow” arrow printed on the spacer is pointing towards the intake manifold. 6. Reinstall the intake tube, tighten the two hose clamps, and reconnect the crankcase breather tube. Reinstall the beauty cover, and oil cap in the reverse order that they were removed. Re-connect the negative battery cable!

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting. 2. Remove the drain plug and drain fluid. Allow at least 5 minutes for the fluid to drain completely. 3. Remove the gasket from the drain plug and discard. Installation Procedure 1. Install the new gasket on the drain plug. Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice. 2. Install the drain plug. Tighten the drain plug to 40 N.m (30 lb ft). 3. Make sure vehicle is level. 4. Remove the fluid level indicator located behind the front transaxle mount. Notice: Do not remove the 3rd gear anchor band bolt located on top of the transmission for checking fluid or adding fluid. Removing the bolt will dislocate internal components and require the transmission to be removed from the vehicle and disassembled for repair. Important: Dexron(R)III automatic transmission fluid is not compatible with this transaxle. If Dexron(R)III ATF is used, transaxle failure will result. Refer to Sealers, Adhesives, and Lubricants. 5. Add approximately 3.1 L (3.3 Qt)

QUICK-CONNECT FITTINGS Different types of quick-connect fittings are used to attach the various fuel system components, lines and tubes. These are: a single-button type, a two-button type, a pinch type, a single-tab type, a two-tab type or a plastic retainer ring type. Some are equipped with safety latch clips. Some may require the use of a special tool for disconnection and removal. DISCONNECTING WARNING: The fuel system is under a constant pressure (even with engine off). Before servicing any fuel system hose, fitting or line, fuel system pressure must be released. See: Fuel Pressure CAUTION: CAUTION: Release\Service and Repair Before separating a quick-connect fitting, pay attention to what type of fitting is being used by referring to Quick- Connect Fitting Removal. This will prevent unnecessary fitting or fitting latch breakage. The interior components (O-rings, clips) of quick-connect fittings are not serviced separately, but new plastic spacers and latches are available for some types. If service parts are not available, do not attempt to repair the damaged fitting or fuel line (tube). If repair is necessary, replace the complete fuel line (tube) assembly. 1. Perform fuel pressure release procedure. See: Fuel Pressure Release\Service and Repair 2. Disconnect negative battery cable from battery. 3. Clean fitting of any foreign material before disassembly. 4. Single-Button Type Fitting: This type of fitting is equipped with a single push-button (2) located on the quick-connect fitting. 5. The push-button is attached to two internal latches (1). To disconnect, press on push-button with your thumb and unlatch fitting from fuel line. Special tools are not required for disconnection. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PRY OR PULL UP ON PUSH-BUTTON. LATCHES WILL BE BROKEN.

Some customers may also comment that the engine runs rough. The technician may find DTCs P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, or P0306 set as current or in history, depending on which engine the vehicle is equipped with. Upon further examination, the technician may observe evidence of water intrusion into the spark plug recess area. Cause This condition may be caused by an engine being exposed to a large quantity of water, which may result in some of the water seeping down past the vented threads of an ignition coil bolt, then flowing through the vent opening that is located in the bottom of the related ignition coil bolt hole, and collecting in the spark plug recess area. Correction Important: DO NOT reprogram or replace the engine control module (ECM) for this condition. If evidence of water intrusion in the spark plug recess area/s is not observed, then refer to the appropriate DTC procedures in SI.
