Introduction Immobilizer Reset is a new feature that allows the registration of a new Master Key even if all original Master Keys are lost. Once the Immobilizer system is reset, all previously registered keys will be erased.Function
The Immobilizer Reset function is a 5-step process: Description 1. Using the Diagnostic Tester, retrieve a “Seed Number” through the OBD/MOBD Immobilizer function. S A “Seed Number” is a unique number provided by the Diagnostic Tester and validated by TIS in order to return a Passcode. 2. Using TIS, select Immobilizer Reset, and complete the request form to retrieve a “Passcode Number.”
S A “Passcode Number” is a unique number required by the Diagnostic Tester to reset the ECU allowing it to accept a new Master Key. 3. Enter the “Passcode Number” received from TIS into the Diagnostic Tester. 4. Confirm successful Immobilizer reset and new Master Key registration. 5. Register any additional customer keys.

1. Use a scan tool to monitor the fuel trim numbers and the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor data stream grams/sec readings. Nominal
values are 5 grams/sec at idle in Park, and >150 at Wide Open Throttle (WOT) and 5000 RPM, in gear. Some scan tools have a freeze frame feature, which is useful in trouble shooting if the problem is set at idle versus at cruise. Vacuum leaks and crankcase breather problems generally show up at idle. Voltage at the airflow meter should be .7-.9V at idle and increase from there with more airflow. 2. Monitor the crankcase vacuum with a vacuum gauge, which can be adapted onto the tube for the oil dipstick. Specification for the crank case vacuum is 8 to 15 millibar, this equals about 1/4 to 1/2 PSI or pounds per square. So, 1 PSI of vacuum would be twice as much as there should be at idle. The proper method, per BMW, is to use a slack tube manometer which can be made easily with clear tubing and making it into a U shape and have it marked in inch increments then half fill it with water. When crankcase vacuum is applied to one side of the tubing it should displace 4 to 6 inches of water if the crankcase breather is working correctly. 3. Monitor the fuel pressure. It should be a constant 50 – 53 PSI.

INTRODUCTION Some models may be equipped with one or more resettable maintenance reminder lights indicating service is required. Once services are performed, resetting of lights may be required. Information is provided to reset these lights where applicable. Most vehicles are equipped with a computer malfunction indicator light. If light comes on and remains on while driving, the vehicle requires service. After repairing fault(s) and clearing fault code(s), the malfunction indicator light should go out. Some models may use a dual-function indicator light, which is also used to indicate emission component service is due. After performing required service, reset indicator light. RESET PROCEDURES (CADILLAC) NOTE: 1980 CADILLAC 1. Every 15,000 miles, a reminder flag appears in speedometer face, indicating service of oxygen sensor is necessary. Inspect and service oxygen sensor as necessary, and reset flag. 2. To reset flag, remove lower steering column cover. Sensor reset cable is located to the left of the speedometer cluster. Pull cable lightly (maximum 2 lbs. force). Reinstall lower steering column cover. 1989-93 ALLANTE Engine Data Display 1. An OIL LIFE INDEX is one of the displays on Driver Information Center (DIC). It will display remaining oil life as a percentage estimate of the useful life of oil. 2. It will show 100 percent when the system is reset. To reset service reminder on 1989 models, press RANGE button until OIL LIFE INDEX appears on display. Depress and hold in AVG ECON and RANGE buttons for more than 5 seconds or until 100 is displayed.
