1. Remove the front door trim panel and watershield from the front door. Refer to Section 01-05A or Section 01-05B. 2. Disconnect front door latch actuating rod (22152) from lock cylinder. 3. Remove attaching screws from front door latch remote control and link (21818). Remove front door latch remote control and link from front door. 4. Disconnect front door latch control cylinder rod (22134) from front door latch remote control and link. 5. Disconnect front door latch remote control link. For installation, follow removal procedures in reverse order. Front Door Latch Installation, Aerostar Liftgate, Aerostar Removal and Installation 1. Open liftgate and remove liftgate door trim panel and liftgate handle, if so equipped. 2. Disconnect liftgate latch release rod from control assembly. 3. Remove three latch retaining screws and remove luggage compartment door lock mechanism cover (43243) and latch from liftgate. 4. On vehicles equipped with liftgate ajar warning switch, pull latch slightly away from liftgate and disconnect electrical wire harness from the latch. To install, reverse Steps 1 through 4. 1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting. 2. Remove the tire and wheel. 3. Remove the brake rotor (2). Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement – Front. 4. Important: The wheel speed sensor mounts to the hub/bearing assembly. Thoroughly clean around this area in order to prevent any dirt or contaminants from entering the sealed wheel bearing. Failure to do this may lead to premature wheel bearing failure. Remove the Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) mounting bolt. 5. NOTICE: Carefully remove the sensor by pulling it straight out of the bore. DO NOT use a screwdriver, or other device to pry the sensor out of the bore. Prying will cause the sensor body to break off in the bore. Remove the wheel speed sensor (5) from the hub/bearing assembly (4). Remove the WSS cable mounting clip from the knuckle. Remove the WSS cable mounting clip from the upper control arm. Remove the WSS cable mounting clip from the frame attachment point. Remove the WSS cable electrical connector. 6. 7. 8. 9. Installation Procedure 1. Plug the WSS bore to prevent debris from falling into the hub. 2. Using a wire brush or equivalent, clean the WSS mounting surface on the hub to remove any rust or corrosion. 3. Apply a thin layer of wheel bearing lubricant, GM P/N 01051344 to the hub surface and the sensor O-ring prior to the sensor installation.

Some vehicles may exhibit a rattling noise from the soft top latch cover caused by looseness in the soft top latch cover. As a mass production change to prevent the noise, a pad has been attached to the location where the soft top cover is making the noise. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Verify customer concern. 2. Remove the soft top latch cover. a. Using a plastic windshield setting tool or equivalent, half-disengage the soft top latch hook. NOTE: • Plastic Windshield Setting Tool (Part Number IS742 – available from Equalizer at 800-334- 1334) or similar available through a local supplier.• If a flat-tipped screwdriver is to be used, wrap the tip in tape to prevent damage to the soft top latch cover. Do not completely disengage the hook at this step yet. (Just half release the hook engage- ment.) • b. Using a plastic windshield setting tool or equivalent, remove the soft top latch cover hook holder from the soft top latch hook. – Right side: While strongly pushing the soft top latch cover inward, insert the fiber stick (or equivalent tool) as shown below, then pry down. – Left side: While strongly pushing the soft top latch cover inward, insert the fiber stick (or equivalent tool) as shown below, then pry downward. Latch—Door Removal and Installation NOTE: Front door shown, rear door similar. Front door 1. Remove the door lock cylinder; refer to Lock Cylinder—Door. 2. If equipped, remove the power door lock actuator. 1. Disconnect the electrical connector. 2. Drill out the rivet. 3. Disconnect the actuator rod. 4. Remove the actuator. Rear door 3. If equipped, remove the power door lock actuator. For additional information, refer to Actuator—Door, Rear in this section. All doors 4. Remove the door latch remote control. 1. Remove the screws. 2. Disconnect the door latch remote control link from the door latch remote control. 3. Remove the door latch remote control. 5. Disconnect the door latch actuating rod from the door latch. 6. Remove the rear glass run channel. 1. Remove the bolt. 2. Remove the rear glass run channel. 7. Remove the screws and the door latch. 8. Disconnect the door latch push button rod from the door latch. 9. NOTE: Connect the remote control rod, door latch push button rod and lock cylinder rod to the front door latch (21812) before installing the new latch. NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy. To install, reverse the removal procedure. ? Use the special tool to install the new rivet.
