1. On vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, remove the shift lever. 2. On vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, perform the following steps: 2.1. Apply the park brake. 2.2. Insert the ignition key and turn the ignition switch to the RUN position. 2.3. Depress the brake pedal and shift the transmission to the 1 position. 2.4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Remove the left sound insulator. Remove the right instrument panel sound insulator. If the vehicle is equipped with a multiple CD changer located in the center console, remove the center console. Remove the center sound insulator. Remove the lower left instrument panel mounting bolt. Remove and retain the instrument panel storage compartment. Remove the lower right instrument panel mounting bolt. 11. Remove and retain the left and right speakers and the speaker grilles. 12. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the windshield defroster grille. Retain the grille and sunload sensor for use on the next IP carrier. 13. 14. 15. 16. If equipped with a sun load temperature sensor twist the sensor 1/4 turn counterclockwise in order to disengage. Disconnect the brown electrical connection from the body control module (BCM). Disconnect the purple electrical connection from the body control module (BCM). Introduction Some 2009 model year Venza vehicles may experience a condition where the front or rear door panel trim delaminates. Improved door panels have been developed to correct this condition. Figure 1. Repair Procedure Front Door 1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. 2. Using a molding remover, disengage the 3 claws and remove the front door inside handle bezel plug. 3. Remove the power window regulator master switch assembly with front door armrest base panel (for Driver Side). A. Using a molding remover, disengage the 2 clips and 4 claws. B. Disconnect the connector and remove the power window regulator master switch assembly with front door armrest base panel. 4. Remove the power window regulator switch assembly with front door armrest base panel (for passenger side). A. Using a molding remover, disengage the 2 clips and 4 claws. B. Disconnect the connector and remove the power window regulator switch assembly with front door armrest base panel. 5. Remove the courtesy light assembly. A. Using a plastic pry tool, disengage the claw. B. Disconnect the connector and remove the courtesy light assembly. 6. Remove the front door trim board sub-assembly. A. Remove the 2 screws. B. Using a clip remover, disengage the 10 clips. C. Pull out the front door trim board sub-assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow as shown in the illustration. D. Raise the front door trim board sub-assembly and remove the front door trim board sub-assembly together with the front door inner glass weatherstrip.

Trim Panel Replacement – Side Rear Door Tools Required J 36796 Clip Zip Clip Removal Tool or J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover Removal Procedure 1. Position the window fully downward. 2. Ensure the manual lock knob (1) is in the unlock position. 3. Insert a flat bladed tool into the top service notch in order to disengage the locking clip (2) located at the front of the manual lock knob (1). 4. Remove the manual lock knob (1). 5. Remove the inside handle bezel from the inner door panel in the following order: 1. 2. 3. 4. Hold the inside handle to the open position. Insert a flat bladed tool at the front lower corner of the bezel. Pry outward on the bezel. Remove the bezel from the inner door panel. 6. Remove the screw attaching the inside door handle to the sheet metal. 7. Use the J 36796 or J 38778 in order to release the eight retainers (1) around the outside edges of the door trim panel. 8. Slide the door trim panel (1) upwards to release it from the following: The alignment datums (4) The eight retainers The arm rest steel retainer clips (3) The inner belt molding (2) 9. Disconnect the door trim panel electrical connector. Installation Procedure 1. Position the manual lock rod (1) vertically into the bell crank retainer clip (2).

1. Remove door latch cover by pulling trim free of retaining clips and sliding trim away from latch. 2. Remove portion of armrest containing door lock switch and window regulator control switch (14529). Trim Panel 3. Remove screw attaching front door trim panel (23942) to front door (20124). 4. Remove two screws located at bottom of front door trim panel. 5. Disconnect the door lock switch (14028) and window regulator control switch electrical connectors. 6. Remove rear view outside mirror mounting hole cover assembly by prying at top and pulling upward to release double-sided clip. 7. Pull front door trim panel from the top to release fasteners from front door. 8. Remove front door trim panel. Disconnect lamp connector. 9. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Replace any bent or damaged fasteners. Body Side Removal and Installation 1. Remove door handle retaining clip by sliding a shop towel between handle and door trim. With tension on the cloth, pull one end of the cloth so it slides between the handle and the door trim. If handle does not come out, reverse direction. 2. Gently pry door latch bezel from door trim. 3. Pull body side trim panel from body side door. 4. To install, reverse Removal procedure. For installation of handle, install clip to handle, then push handle on to shaft to snap in place. Back Removal and Installation 1. Disconnect rear window defroster wires. 2. Remove the liftgate window garnish moulding. Refer to procedure in this section. 3. Remove screws attaching liftgate handle to liftgate and liftgate inside trim panel. 4. Using Rotunda Windshield and Moulding/Trim Removal Kit 107-R0401 or equivalent, pry pushpins retaining liftgate trim from the liftgate. 5. Remove liftgate trim. 6. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Liftgate Door Electrical Connections

Window Regulator, Power Front Door—Town Car Removal 1. CAUTION: When servicing front door power window regulator minus motor (23208), regulator cable tension must not be altered. Cable tension is preset at production. Improper adjustment may result in premature front door power window regulator failure or erratic operation. CAUTION: Be careful not to drill through the window regulator behind inner door panel. Additional repairs may be necessary. If front door window glass (21410) is in the down position and is inoperable, a through f must be taken; if front door window glass is operational, proceed to Step 2. a. Remove front door trim panel (23942) and front door trim shield (237A04). Refer to Section 01-05. b. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01. c. CAUTION: Be careful not to strike or scratch front door window glass. Remove three 1/4 inch rivets retaining window regulator electric drive (23394) to inner panel. d. Working through front access hole in inner panel, remove three screws from window regulator electric drive. e. Separate window regulator electric drive from front door power window regulator minus motor. Raise front door window glass by hand and secure using tape. f. Proceed to Step 2. 2. Remove front door window glass as outlined. 3. Disconnect window regulator electric drive wiring connector. 4. Remove two upper front door power window regulator retaining nuts. 5. NOTE: Use care not to enlarge sheet metal holes in the door inner panel. Remove two 1/4-inch rivets retaining front door power window regulator minus motor to inner door panel. 6. Remove front door power window regulator minus motor from front door (20124). Installation 1. Lubricate front door power window regulator minus motor with Teflon® Lubricant E7FZ-19590-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESB-M1C111-A as outlined. 2. Install front door power window regulator minus motor into access hole in inner panel. 3. Position front door power window regulator minus motor using upper front door power window regulator studs and tabs on window regulator electric drive mounting bracket. 4. Install rivets retaining front door power window regulator minus motor to door inner panel (1/4-20 x 1/2 inch screw and 1/4-20 nut and washer assemblies or equivalent metric fasteners may be used as alternates). 5. Install two upper front door power window regulator retaining nuts. 6. Install Front Door Window Glass as outlined. 7. Adjust Front Door Window Glass as outlined. 8. Install front door trim shield and front door trim panel. Refer to Section 01-05. Front Door—Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis Removal 1. If front door window glass is in the down position and is inoperable, the following steps must be taken; if front door window glass is operational, go to Step 2. a. Remove front door trim panel and front door trim shield. Refer to Section 01-05. b. Disconnect battery ground cable. Refer to Section 14-01. c. Disconnect window regulator electric drive wires. d. CAUTION: Be careful not to strike or scratch front door window glass because it could break. Remove window regulator electric drive retaining screws through holes. e. Remove window regulator electric drive from front door power window regulator minus motor.
