WARNING: IF THE REGULATOR COUNTERBALANCE SPRING MUST BE REMOVED OR REPLACED FOR ANY REASON, MAKE SURE THAT THE REGULATOR ARMS ARE IN A FIXED POSITION PRIOR TO REMOVAL TO PREVENT POSSIBLE INJURY DURING C-SPRING UNWIND. 1. Remove front door trim panel (23942) and front door inside panel sound insulator (20394) . Refer to Section 01-05. 2. Remove inside door belt weatherstrip. 3. Remove front door window glass (21410) as described. 4. Remove two nut and washer assemblies attaching the window regulator equalizer arm bracket (23230) . 5. Remove four rivets for RH side (six for LH side) retaining the front door window regulator base plate to door inner panel. 6. Remove front door window regulator (23200) and front door window channel bracket (23288) from vehicle. 7. Working on a bench, carefully bend tab flat to remove front door window regulator arm slides from front door window channel bracket. 8. NOTE: Use care not to break tab; if tab is cracked or broken, replace front door window channel bracket . Make sure rubber bumper is installed properly on new front door window channel bracket , if replacement is made. Install new front door window regulator arm plastic guides into front door window channel bracket and bend tab back to 90 degrees. Installation NOTE: The front door window channel bracket and window regulator electric drive (23394) are installed into the vehicle as one assembly. The front door window channel bracket may be disassembled from the window regulator electric drive as described in Door Glass and Regulator, Power Windows. 1. Install window regulator electric drive with preassembled front door window channel bracket into vehicle. Set the regulator base plate to door inner panel using base plate locator tab as a guide. 2. NOTE: Two 1/4-20 x 1 inch bolts and two 1/4-20 nut and washer assemblies may be used as alternates for glass retention. However, torque must not exceed 4-7 Nm (36- 61 lb-in). Equivalent metric retainers may be used. Install four rivets to retain front door window regulator to door inner panel. 3. Install window regulator equalizer arm bracket . 4. Lower front door window regulator arms to access holes in door inner panel. Install front door window glass as described. 5. Install inside door belt weatherstrip. 6. Adjust front door window glass to make sure it is properly aligned with glass run. Check window for smooth operation. 7. Install front door trim panel and front door inside panel sound insulator . 1. Remove the front door trim panel (23942). Refer to Section 01-05. Peel back the water shield if necessary to gain access to the mirror wiring connector. 2. Disconnect the wiring connector. Remove rear view mirror mounting hole cover (17K709) located above the front door trim panel (inside window sail cover) by using a flat blade screwdriver to carefully pry off. 3. Remove the three nuts retaining the outside rear view mirror (17682) to the front door (20124). 4. Pull outside rear view mirror away from the front door while guiding the wiring out of the front door. 5. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten nuts to 6-8 Nm (54-70 lb-in). Glass, Outside Mirror Removal NOTE: Power mirror and manual mirror glass replacement procedure ar similar. 1. Push in on the bottom of the glass until it stops. 2. Protect the mirror body with a rag or similar material at the top and insert a flat blade screwdriver between the mirror body and glass. 3. Pry on the glass until it snaps loose from motor assembly. Disconnect the heater wires from the glass, if equipped. 4. Remove the screwdriver and continue to pull the glass by hand until it is completely unsnapped from the motor assembly. Installation 1. Make sure the rubber gasket on the motor is properly installed on the motor assembly. 2. Reconnect heater wires to glass. 3. Position the glass assembly in the mirror, and push on the center of the glass to snap it in place. Push on glass until it is fully seated. Trim Cover Removal and Installation 1. Remove the rear view mirror mounting hole cover, located above the front door trim panel by using a flat blade screwdriver to carefully pry off. Care should be taken not to scratch paint. 2. To install, snap rear view mirror mounting hole cover into place. Be careful not to damage clips. Mirror Control Removal and Installation 1. Remove driver front door trim panel with mirror switch pigtail still attached to harness. 2. Reach around front door trim panel and disconnect switch harness from the main wire harness. 3. Using a small flat blade screwdriver, pry the outside rear view mirror control switch up from the front door trim panel. 4. Remove outside rear view mirror control (17B676).

1. Remove the sail panel. NOTE: Release the top portion first. 2. Remove the window regulator switch plate. 3. Disconnect the electrical connectors. 4. Release the inside door handle trim cover. ^ Pull the inside door handle outward. ^ Release the trim cover. 8. Remove the inside door handle. ^ Remove the bolt.9. Lift upward and then outward to remove the front door trim panel. CAUTION: To avoid damage to the front door trim panel, do not pull directly outward. 10. Remove the courtesy lamp. ^ Turn the courtesy lamp bulb socket one-quarter of a turn and remove. 11. Disconnect the power mirror electrical connector. INSTALLATION

Removal & Installation WARNING: Move mirror glass with hand carefully and slowly. If mirror glass is damaged: Wear protective goggles and cut-proof gloves. Risk of injury by flaking-off glass splinters. IMPORTANT: Bring door mirror to room temperature to prevent catches from breaking off. Press mirror glass (1) on side vehicle by hand to full extent. NOTE: Secure mirror glass (1) against falling out. Unclip mirror glass (1) from outer side with special tool 00 9 317 all round. Unlock and disconnect associated plug connections, remove mirror glass (1).
