Honda Odyssey & 2003-2006 Honda Pilot 2007 & 2008 Honda Pilot – Door panel removal procedures are different from previous models – see page 4. Open the driver side door and lower the window. Remove the door panel, kick panel, and plastic trim piece along the bottom of the door frame. 1) Open the driver side door and lower the window. Using a plastic pry bar, carefully remove corner trim. 2) Remove plastic cover in door release lever to reveal 2-screws. Remove these screws with a Phillips screwdriver. 3) Pry loose the control panel. Disconnect all wiring connections behind control panel and remove control panel. Remove the revealed screw behind control panel. 4) Remove screw hidden below the grab bar. Carefully pull on door panel until all snap inserts, around the perimeter of door panel, pop loose. 5) Hold door panel slightly away from door frame. Disconnect all wiring connections behind door panel. 6) Remove release lever rod from behind door panel. Remove and set aside door panel.

Remove the screw from the door handle trim. 2. Slide the handle assembly forward and out to access the lock rod clip. 3. Release the clip 4. Disconnect the door lock switch 5. Remove the door opener handle assembly. 6. Carefully pry at the small opening on the bottom of the speaker grill. 7. Remove the speaker grille.
8. Remove the speaker mounting screws. 9. Detach the electrical connector and remove the speaker. 10. Remove the screws in the armrest. 11. Remove the center from the trim clip at the upper front of the door panel and remove the
clip. 12. Using a suitable trim panel removal tool, unsnap the door panel from the door frame. 13. Carefully lift the door panel up and away from the door frame.

BACKGROUND Over time, the power tailgate support struts can lose internal pressure. If they lose enough pressure, the struts may not keep the tailgate up after you open it. A tailgate that lowers unintentionally could cause an injury. REPAIR PROCEDURE NOTE: • Wear eye protection when you pry on the tailgate support strut clips. • Have an assistant hold up the tailgate during the procedure. 1. Pry up the clip on both ends of the tailgate support struts with a flat-tip screwdriver. Then remove the struts by pulling them out of the upper and lower pivot bolts. 2. With the clip on both ends of the new support struts flush to the strut body, install the new struts by pressing the strut ends into the upper and lower pivot bolts. Make sure both support struts are securely attached to the pivot bolts. 3. Center-punch a completion mark above the 11th character of the engine compartment VIN:

Special Tools Required KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014 Trim pad remover, Snap-on A 177A or equivalent, commercially available NOTE: Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components. 1. Lower the glass fully. 2. Using the appropriate trim tool, pry out on the rear portion of the cover (A) to release the hooks (B, C), then remove the cover and the screws securing the inner handle (D). 3. Remove the power window switch panel (A). -1 Using the appropriate trim tool pry up on the rear edge of the switch panel tape to release the rear clip. -2 Pull out along the edge of the panel to release the hooks (B) and front clip. -3 Disconnect the power mirror switch connector (C) (driver’s) and the power window switch connector (D). Driver’s 4. Remove the door panel (A) with as little bending as possible to avoid creasing or breaking it. -1 Remove the screws (B). -2 Use a commercially available trim pad remover (C) to detach the clips (D).

CAUTION: The cowl grille panels are secured to the cowl with molded hooks. Prying or pulling straight up on the cowl grille panels will break the hooks. If the hooks are damaged or broken, a new cowl grille panel must be installed. 1. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. 2. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Item 2: Pin-Type Fastener Removal Note 1. Open the hood. Item 3: Left Cowl Grille Panel Removal Note 1. CAUTION: To avoid breaking the retaining hooks on the cowl grill panel, do not pull up on the rear of the cowl grille panel. Release the front edge of the left cowl grille panel. Starting at the center of the vehicle, depress the forward tab and press upward on the front edge of the cowl grille panel to release it from the cowl. 2. Continuing out from the center of the vehicle, depress the remaining forward tabs, and release rest of the front edge of the cowl grille panel from the cowl. 3. Release the four retaining hooks. Starting at the left fender, press down to release the outer retaining hook, then lightly pull up on the front edge of the cowl grille panel. 4. Continuing in toward the center of the vehicle, release the remaining hooks. Item 7: Right Cowl Grille Panel Removal Note NOTE: Remove the left cowl grille panel before attempting to remove the right cowl grille panel. 1. CAUTION: To avoid breaking the retaining hooks on the cowl grille panel, do not pull up on the rear of the cowl grille panel. Release the front edge of the right cowl grille panel. Starting at the center of the vehicle, depress the forward tab and press upward on the front edge of the cowl grille panel to release it from the cowl. 2. Continuing out from the center of the vehicle, depress the remaining forward tabs, and release rest of the front edge of the cowl grille panel from the cowl. 3. Release the four retaining hooks. Starting at the right fender, press down to release the outer retaining hook, then lightly pull up on the front edge of the cowl grille panel. 4. Continuing in toward the center of the vehicle, release the remaining hooks.
