Introduction Under certain operating conditions, the mounting area of the driver and/or front passenger sunvisor on the vehicle body may become damaged. If this has occurred, the sunvisor may become loose from the mounting area located on the headliner. To address this condition, newly designed mounting brackets have been made available to reinstall the sunvisors. Follow the procedures in this bulletin to install the mounting brackets. Repair Procedure 1. Remove the affected sunvisor assembly. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model year RAV4 Repair Manual: 2006 (to 01/2006) / 2006 (from 01/2006) / 2007 / 2008 / 2009 / 2010 RAV4: Vehicle Interior – Interior Panels/Trim – “Interior: Roof Headlining: Removal” 2. Straighten the roof sheet metal where the visor clips contact the roof. 3. Apply felt to the roof panel opening for visor as shown. Cut two strips from the felt sheet to the following dimensions: Length: 25 mm (1 in.) Width: 9 mm (3/8 in.) Thickness: 0.5 mm (0.02 in.) 4. Install the front visor support. NOTE Front and rear supports are identical. A. Thread string or thin wire through the opening of the support. B. Insert the support into the roof panel opening and attach the support hook to the front edge of the roof panel opening. NOTE • Hold the string or wire ends when installing to prevent the support from falling into the body. • Move the connector toward the rear of the vehicle to widen the opening. C. Attach felt between the support and the roof panel to hold the support in place. Cut two strips from the felt sheet to the following dimensions: Length: 25 mm (1 in.) Width: 5 mm (3/16 in.) Thickness: 0.5 mm (0.02 in.) D. Remove the string or wire from the support.

LINCOLN: 2008-2010 Town Car 2000-2005 Navigator 2007-2009 MKX MERCURY: 2008-2010 Grand Marquis, Mariner Hybrid, Mariner This article supersedes TSB 9-19-16 to update the Service Procedure. ISSUE Some vehicles may experience white flakes coming from the A/C vents when the blower motor is engaged. This may be caused by flux utilized in the manufacturing process of the evaporator core. ACTION Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. SERVICE PROCEDURE Hazard and Risk Warnings for White Flakes WARNING MAY CAUSE EYE AND RESPIRATORY TRACT IRRITATION. PROLONGED REPEATED EXPOSURE MAY CAUSE BONE DAMAGE (FLUOROSIS) AND HARM TO THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM (BASED ON ANIMAL DATA). ^ Avoid inhaling dust. ^ Avoid contact with eyes. ^ Store away from acids. ^ Wash thoroughly after handling. ^ Avoid release to the environment. NOTE THE USE OF DUST PROOF GOGGLES, CHEMICAL RESISTANT GLOVES (PVC) AND DUST MASK IS RECOMMENDED. Using compressed air (maximum inlet pressure) 100 PSI (689 kPa), clean the A/C ducts through the registers and blow off the evaporator core through the blower motor opening. NOTE THE ENTIRE EVAPORATOR CORE SURFACE MUST BE DRY FOR BEST RESULTS. NOTE WHILE PERFORMING THIS PROCEDURE AND SELECTING DIFFERENT VENT MODES SUCH AS FLOOR / PANEL AND FLOOR / DEFROST, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO TEMPORARILY START THE ENGINE TO ENABLE MODE DOOR MOVEMENT. Clean A/C Ducts: 1. Remove floor duct trim. 2. Using masking tape, connect one end of the vacuum cleaner hose to the floor duct on driver side. 3. Tape closed all the other floor duct openings. 4. Obtain about two feet (61 cm) of rubber vacuum line large enough to fit the end of a small shop air blowgun. Secure the hose to the end of the blowgun using a worm clamp. 5. Close all instrument panel registers. 6. Set temperature setting to full cold. 7. Place mode in floor / panel. 8. Turn on vacuum cleaner. 9. Working with one register at a time insert the vacuum line down each duct and blow shop air through each duct for 30 seconds. Be sure to close each register before moving on to the next register. 10. Change mode to floor I defrost.

Preparation 1. Cover the front seats, floorboards, dash and steering wheel with a clean drop cloth or disposable plastic covers. Note: Always wear eye and hand protection when working with glass. Make sure you have the right glass and moldings and the urethane systems are current. Windshield part numbers are FW2464 and FW2461. 2. Drape the fender with a fender cover and tape up any vulnerable areas on the vehicle to protect against possible damage. Tape up the defroster vents to prevent debris from falling into the openings. 3. Remove the rearview mirror. Tap it upward and slide it off the mirror pad. 4. Remove the windshield-wiper nut covers. 5. Remove the windshield-wiper nuts using a 12-millimeter wrench or socket. Move the wiper arm in an up-and-down motion to break it loose from the post, or use a wiper puller. Note: Wipers can sometimes be hard to remove. Use a wiper puller to avoid stressing the post. 6. The three-sided reveal molding is a wraparound “U” channel type molding. Grasp the corner and separate it from Removal 9. Make sure cutting blades are sufficiently sharp. 10. Before cutting out the windshield, remove contaminants from the glass and pinchweld to prevent contact with the urethane. 11. Use the cutting tools of your choice to remove the glass from the adhesive bead. Note: When using any power tool, use plain water to lubricate the cutting area. Spray the top, sides and bottom; then make your cuts. Caution: Be careful not to hit or cut the gravity stops; mark their location with a marking pencil or molding-retention tape. 12. Take the windshield out of the opening using a set of vacuum cups. Note: Make sure the vacuum cups do not overlap a crack in the glass. 13. Lift the glass and place it on a windshield stand or suitable workstation. Installation 14. After cutting the windshield out, remove contaminants such as dirt, moisture and debris from the pinchweld. Clean the dashboard. 15. Dry fit the new glass to the opening. Attach the three- sided molding to the glass edge. 16. Place your vacuum cups on the new windshield in the appropriate location and set it onto the old urethane. 17. With the windshield resting in the opening, make sure it is in the right spot. 18. Adjust both sides to the correct setting, marking the passenger’s side, then the driver’s side. Lift the glass and place it on a windshield stand or suitable workstation. 19. Follow the urethane manufacturer’s recommendations for installation. 20. Clean the inside of the windshield using a urethane manufacturer-recommended product. Note: Do not touch the bonding area of the windshield after cleaning, prepping or priming it. 21. Wear powder-free Nitrile gloves to keep off chemicals. 22. Apply the glass prep and primer following the urethane manufacturer’s recommendations. 23. Using the tool of your choice, remove the original urethane bead, leaving 1-2 millimeters of existing urethane on the pinchweld. Make sure there are no contaminants and do not touch the pinchweld after prepping the area. 24. Apply the pinchweld primer only to the areas where needed, and follow the urethane manufacturer’s recommenda- tions. Allow preps and primers to dry as recommended by the urethane manufacturer.
