REMOVAL The rear lamp unit may contain up to four bulbs, depending upon the market for which the vehicle was manufactured. The service procedures for each bulb is the same, only the bulb sizes and types may differ. Be certain any removed bulb is replaced with the same bulb size and type that was removed. 1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable. 2. Remove the rear lamp unit from the end of the quarter panel. (Refer to LAMPS/ LIGHTING – EXTERIOR/REAR LAMP UNIT – REMOVAL). 3. Firmly grasp the socket on the socket plate at the back of the rear lamp unit housing for the bulb that is being removed (Fig. 59). 4. Rotate the socket on the socket plate at the back of the rear lamp unit housing counterclockwise about 30 degrees . 5. Pull the socket and bulb straight out of the back of the rear lamp unit housing. 6. Pull the bulb straight out of the rear lamp unit socket. INSTALLATION CAUTION: Always use the correct bulb size and type for replacement. An incorrect bulb size or type may overheat and cause damage to the lamp, the socket andlor the lamp wiring. 1. Align the base of the bulb with the receptacle in the rear lamp unit socket. 2. Push the bulb straight into the rear lamp unit socket until it is firmly seated. 3. Align the socket and bulb with the opening in the socket plate on the back of the rear lamp unit housing (Fig. 59). 4. Push the socket and bulb straight into the rear lamp unit housing until the socket is firmly seated against the socket plate. 5. Rotate the socket on the socket plate at the back of the rear lamp unit housing clockwise about 30 degrees . 6. Reinstall the rear lamp unit onto the end of the quarter panel. (Refer to LAMPS/ LIGHTING – EXTERIOR/REAR LAMP UNIT – INSTALLATION). 7. Reconnect the battery negative cable.

The condition follows an extended soak (several hours) and may be accompanied by a harsh 4-3 downshift. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1791/P0944 – Loss of Prime. DIAGNOSIS Using a Scan Tool (DRBIII(R)) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs are present, other than those listed above, record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin. If the vehicle operator describes the Symptom/Condition or the technician finds DTC P1791 or P0944, perform the Repair Procedure.

Headlamp Assembly NOTE: Make sure the headlamp switch and ignition switch are in the OFF position. 1. To remove individual components, only carry out the following steps. Component Radiator grille opening cover Radiator sight shield Headlamp assembly 2. View 1 of 2. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. 3. View 2 of 2. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. 4. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Item 2: Radiator Grille Opening Cover Removal Note 1. Position the ambient air temperature sensor aside. Item 6: Standard Headlamp Disassembly Note 1. To remove individual components, only carry out the following steps. Component Low beam bulb High beam bulb Side marker module 2. Disassemble the components in the order indicated in the following illustration and table. Steps 1-2, 4-5 6-7, 9-10 11-14 3. To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure. Items 5 and 10: Low and High Beam Bulb Removal Note WARNING: The headlamp bulb contains gas under pressure. The bulb may shatter if the glass envelope is scratched or if the bulb is dropped. Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass envelope. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury. 1. The headlamp bulb should not be removed from the headlamp until just before a new bulb is installed. Removing the bulb for an extended period of time may affect headlamp bulb performance. Contaminants may enter the headlamp with the bulb removed from the leadlamp. WARNING: A transient high tension (25,000 V) occurs at the bulb sockets of the high intensity discharge (HID) lamps when the combination light switch is turned ON. It may cause serious electrical shock or electrocution if you do not observe the cautions below. CAUTION: – Never turn on the combination light switch before fitting the HID bulbs to their bulb sockets and completing the reassembly of the headlight assembly. – Do not service the headlights assembly in wet conditions, such as rain or snow, near a sprinkler system, or when your hands are wet to prevent electrocution. – Do not touch the surface of the HID bulbs with your bare hands and do not stain it with any oils and fats. – Do not disassemble the inverter unit and the ignitor unit. – Do not turn on the HID bulb by using a power source other than the battery mounted on your vehicle. 1. 2. 3. 4. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio and the navigation system, then write down the frequencies for the radio’s preset buttons. Combination light switch OFF. Disconnect the battery negative cable, then disconnect the positive cable. Disconnect the headlight assembly 2P connector.
