1. REMOVE FR WIPER BLADE LH a. Raise the front wiper blade to the position as shown in the illustration. b. Disengage the claw and remove the front wiper blade LH from the front wiper arm LH. NOTE: Do not bend the front wiper arm with the front wiper blade LH removed, as the arm tip could damage the windshield surface. 2. REMOVE WIPER RUBBER LH a. Remove the front wiper rubber LH from the front wiper blade. b. Remove the 2 wiper rubber backing plates from the wiper rubber LH. 3. INSTALL WIPER RUBBER LH a. Install the 2 wiper rubber backing plates onto the wiper rubber LH. NOTE: Be sure to install the wiper rubber backing plates in the correct direction. b. Install the wiper rubber LH so that the head part (Larger side) of the wiper rubber faces the arm axle side. NOTE: Push the front wiper blade into the grooves of the wiper rubber to engage them completely.

A 2-speed wiper motor with intermittent mode is standard on all models. A 3-speed wiper motor is optional on some models. Washer system uses a reservoir-mounted electric pump located in the engine compartment. A one-speed rear wiper/washer is optional. Rear wiper/washer switch is located on instrument panel, to right of steering column. Wiper switch has 2 positions, rear wiper ON or OFF. Washer and wiper switch has 3 positions, OFF, washer ON (depressed half way), or washer and wiper ON (fully depressed). Washer/wiper switch moves to OFF position when switch is released. TESTING NOTE: If wiper malfunctions or does not return to park position,check for blown fuse, faulty wiper motor, control switch or connections. If washer malfunctions, check for clogged hose or nozzle, faulty washer motor, control switch or wiring. 1. Remove the rear wiper arm (5). 2. Remove the rear wiper motor drive shaft nut (6). 3. Remove the washer (7) and seal (8) from the wiper motor drive shaft. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the rear wiper motor. Remove the rear wiper motor screws. Remove the rear wiper motor (3) from the liftgate (5). Remove the rear wiper motor from the vehicle. Installation Procedure 1. Position the rear wiper motor (3) to the liftgate. Notice: refer to Fastener Notice. 2. Install the rear wiper motor screws. Tighten the screws to 6 N.m (53 lb in ). 3. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the wiper motor. 4. Install the washer (7) and seal (8) onto the rear wiper motor drive shaft. 5. Install the rear wiper motor drive shaft nut (6). Tighten the nut to 6 N.m (53 lb in ). 6. Install the rear wiper arm. 7. Inspect rear wiper for proper operation. 8. Install the liftgate trim panel.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required Removal lever 80-200 Removing Note: In order to prevent potential damage to wiper arms, the windshield wipers will not function, or will cease functioning should the front hood be opened. If Wiper Motor Control Module J400 is to be replaced, connect VAS 5051/5052 and initiate OBD program. option “J400 – replacing” Switch on ignition. Actuate touch-wipe function and allow wiper motor to move to end position. CAUTION! Switch off all electrical consumers. Switch ignition off and remove ignition key. Use screwdriver to pry off wiper arm caps. Loosen nuts – arrows – (do not remove). Loosen wiper arms from wiper shaft by tilting slightly, remove nuts and remove wiper arms. Unclip washer jets – arrow – . Push washer jet (with hoses connected) through mounting opening into plenum chamber. Pull off rubber seal – 1 – for plenum chamber cover. Remove plenum chamber cover – 2 – . Note: Use adhesive tape to prevent fender from becoming scratched.
