1. The PCM is located between driver’s side front fender and power distribution center, near battery. See Fig. 1 . Disconnect negative battery cable and then positive battery cable from battery. 2. Remove bolts on side of power distribution center that secure power distribution center to mounting bracket. Remove heat shield from outside of battery. Remove battery. 3. Rotate power distribution center toward the engine to disengage power distribution center from rear mounting bracket. Pull power distribution center toward rear of vehicle to disengage power distribution center from front mounting bracket. 4. Allow power distribution center to lay aside for access to PCM. Remove electrical connectors from PCM. Electrical connectors may be removed by squeezing tabs on electrical connector together and pulling electrical connector from PCM. Remove bolts and PCM. To install, reverse removal procedure.

Model(s): 1996-99 Chrysler (NS) Town & Country 1996-99 Chrysler (GS) Voyager 1996-98 Jeep (ZJ) Grand Cherokee 1996-98 Jeep (ZG) Grand Cherokee (International Market) The Memory Seat/Mirror Module (MSMM) (on ZJ/ZG the module is for the seat only) detects and remembers where the end of seat travel (called “soft stop”) is in each direction. A soft stop is set in MSMM memory when the position sensing feedback voltage, controlled by a potentiometer on the motor end, fails to change. The feedback voltage potentiometers vary the position sensing feedback voltage based on seat position/movement (no movement, no change in position sensing feedback voltage). The seat motor automatically stops at the soft stop on any subsequent movement so the motor does not run into a stall condition (end of travel). The soft stop limits will be updated any time the MSMM senses a mechanical stall (such as when something is stuck under or behind the seat that causes the seat to stop moving). These soft stops can prevent the seat from being able to have memory positions set over the full range of travel. Also, positions that were previously programmed to locations beyond an updated soft stop limit will not be recalled as they are “out of range.”

Removal 1. Disconnect battery ground cable. 2. Disconnect power steering pressure (PSP) switch electrical connector. 3. Remove power steering pressure (PSP) switch from power steering pressure hose. 4. On 2.0L engine, remove one nut, two bolts and disconnect power steering pressure hose from power steering pump bracket and engine lifting bracket. 5. On 2.5L engine, remove one bolt and disconnect power steering pressure hose from front engine support insulator. 6. Remove power steering pump auxiliary reservoir as outlined. 7. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02. 8. Remove front sub-frame. Refer to Section 02-01. 9. Remove six bolts and steering gear cover plate from front sub-frame. 10. Disconnect power steering pressure hose and power steering return hose unions from steering gear. 11. Remove two bolts retaining power steering pressure and return hoses to front sub-frame and remove power steering pressure and return hoses. CAUTION: Whenever the power steering pressure and return hoses and/or steering gear are disconnected, the power steering pressure and return hoses and/or steering gear should be plugged to prevent system contamination. If the power steering system becomes contaminated with dirt or other foreign matter, power steering pump and/or steering gear failure may result. Installation 1. Position power steering pressure and return hoses to front sub-frame and secure with two bolts. Tighten bolts to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft). 2. Connect power steering pressure hose and power steering return hose unions to steering gear. Tighten unions to 31 Nm (23 lb-ft). 3. Install steering gear cover plate and secure with six bolts. Tighten bolts to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft). 4. Install front sub-frame. Refer to Section 02-01. 5. Lower vehicle. 6. Install power steering pump auxiliary reservoir as outlined. 7. On 2.5L engine, connect power steering pressure hose to front engine suppor t insulator and secure with one bolt. Tighten bolt to 6 Nm (53 lb-in). 8. On 2.0L engine, connect power steering pressure hose to power steering pump bracket and engine lifting bracket. Secure with one nut and two bolts. Tighten nut and bolts to 6 Nm (53 lb-in). 9. Install power steering pressure (PSP) switch into power steering pressure hose. 10. Connect power steering pressure (PSP) switch electrical connector. 11. Connect battery ground cable. 12. The Power Distribution Center (PDC) cover, the PDC housing lower cover, the PDC relay wedges, the PDC relay cassettes and the PDC B(+) terminal stud module (WJ only) are available for service replacement (Fig. 1 and Fig. 2). The PDC cover can be simply unlatched and removed from the PDC housing without the PDC being removed or disassembled. Service of the remaining PDC components requires that the PDC be removed from its mounting and disassembled. Refer to Wiring Repair in the index of this service manual for the location of the wiring repair procedures.
