Introduction Immobilizer Reset is a new feature that allows the registration of a new Master Key even if all original Master Keys are lost. Once the Immobilizer system is reset, all previously registered keys will be erased.Function
The Immobilizer Reset function is a 5-step process: Description 1. Using the Diagnostic Tester, retrieve a “Seed Number” through the OBD/MOBD Immobilizer function. S A “Seed Number” is a unique number provided by the Diagnostic Tester and validated by TIS in order to return a Passcode. 2. Using TIS, select Immobilizer Reset, and complete the request form to retrieve a “Passcode Number.”
S A “Passcode Number” is a unique number required by the Diagnostic Tester to reset the ECU allowing it to accept a new Master Key. 3. Enter the “Passcode Number” received from TIS into the Diagnostic Tester. 4. Confirm successful Immobilizer reset and new Master Key registration. 5. Register any additional customer keys.

ENGINE WILL NOT START NVIS/NATS SYSTEM DESCRIPTION/KEY REGISTRATION This version of NTB03-031 amends the Applied Vehicles. Please discard all paper copies of the earlier versions. APPLIED VEHICLES: 2005 and later Altima (L31), Pathfinder (R51), Frontier (D40), Xterra (N50), 350Z (Z33) 2004 and later Maxima (A34), Quest (V42), Armada (TA60), Titan (A60), Murano (Z50) 2004 350Z (Z33) built after the following:NOTE: ^ For 2003 Murano, and 2003-2004 350Z built before the above Date and VIN’s, see NTB02-071 ^ This bulletin does NOT cover 2002-2004 Altima. SERVICE INFORMATION ^ This bulletin covers the latest version of the Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System/Nissan Anti-Theft System (NVIS/NATS). This system, referred to as “NATS”, is standard equipment on the Applied Vehicles listed above. ^ This version of NATS uses advanced anti-theft functions which are “password protected”. This helps prevent “unauthorized access” into the NATS registration procedure. ^ To obtain the password from ASIST, first use CONSULT-II to get the “BCM-specific” 5-digit number (PIN) code from the vehicle. ^ Unlike earlier NATS systems, this NATS system DOES NOT need to be Re-Initialized if the Electronic Control Unit (ECM) is replaced. NOTE: The ECM and Body Control Module (BCM) do work together, but the BCM in this system controls the information necessary to “tell” the ECM to start the vehicle. IMPORTANT: The NATS Procedure in this bulletin is for the Applied Vehicles only. Do not use this procedure on other NATS-equipped vehicles.

Anti-Theft Systems – Dakota & Durango DESCRIPTION VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) provides perimeter protection against unauthorized use or tampering by monitoring vehicle’s doors, ignition system and liftgate (Durango). VTSS flashes headlights and sounds horn if any door, hood or liftgate (Durango) is opened without using valid key or Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system. VTSS is controlled by Central Timer Module (CTM). CTM is located behind left side kick panel. VTSS is also equipped with a power-up mode. If battery is disconnected or loses power while VTSS is armed, VTSS system remains armed when power is restored. A tamper alert signal is sounded on vehicle entry if VTSS was triggered while away from vehicle. Horn will sound 3 times, alerting owner VTSS was triggered. SENTRY KEY IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM If vehicle is equipped with optional Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS), ignition key will have a Gray molded rubber cap. Models not equipped with optional SKIS will have a Black molded rubber cap on the head of the ignition key. SKIS consists of the Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), sentry transponder keys, SECURITY indicator LED and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). SKIM is located under steering column shrouds, near ignition lock cylinder. Transponder is located in ignition key. See Fig. 1 . If an invalid ignition key is used, SKIM will send invalid signal to PCM, causing engine to start and run for 2 seconds, then stop. If vehicle is started with invalid keys 6 times in a row, vehicle will shut down until correct key is used.
