Service Light Reset – Citroen Saxo (1999 on)
Using button located at the left hand side of speedometer:
? Switch the ignition off.
? Press and hold button
? Switch on the ignition.
? Keep the button depressed for 10 seconds.
? The “spanner” symbol will go out and the display read 0

Customer Concern: Tests/Procedures: Potential Causes: Diagnostic Codes: The service engine soon light is on with trouble code P1416 present. 1. Use a scanner and command the air pump on with the engine running at idle. Check if the O2 sensors go lean. 2. If the O2 sensor does not go lean on one bank, see if the check valve at the exhaust manifold is stuck closed, not allowing air into the manifold. 1. Turn the ignition switch OFF , and wait for ten seconds . Then connect the SCS short connector to the service check connector (2P). If you don’t wait ten seconds , the SRS unit won’t be completely reset or output DTCs. 2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II). The SRS indicator light comes on for about six seconds , and then goes off. Then it will indicate the DTC. Including the most recent problem, up to three different malfunctions can be indicated (see example 1 in fig). In case of a continuous failure, the DTC will be indicated repeatedly (see example 1 in fig). In case of an intermittent failure, the SRS indicator light will indicate the DTC one time, then it will stay on (see example 2 in fig). If both a continuous and an intermittent failure occur, both DTCs will be indicated as continuous failures. When the system is normal (no DTC), the SRS indicator light will stay on (see example 3 in fig). If the SRS indicator light comes on continuously without any DTCs, there may be a problem in the light circuit.

The reset button is located on the bottom right hand side of the Rev counter on the instrument cluster. Switch ignition on. Press reset button until “spanner “ symbol flashes. Keep button depressed until “spanner” symbol stops flashing and remains illuminated. Indicator shows appropriate service interval. Release reset button. Switch ignition off. Some vehicles are fitted with a ‘SERV’ lamp, this is not a service interval indicator lamp. It is a malfunction indicator lamp (MIL).
