1. Using suitable size allen wrench, remove the shift handle retaining screw (Fig. 251). 2. Remove shift handle from shifter assy. 3. Remove console bezel from vehicle. 5. Remove retaining clip from shift cable conduit bracket (Fig. 253). 6. Disconnect shifter cable from cable attach stud (pin) (Fig. 253). 7. Remove cable from center console routing. Leave flat on floor for ease of removal. 8. Raise hood. Remove gearshift cable from throttle/gearshift cable bracket (Fig. 254) 9. Unseat cable grommet at firewall and remove cable from interior of vehicle (Fig. 255). 10. Raise vehicle on hoist and disconnect fill tube bracket from transaxle. Rotate fill tube to gain access to shift cable clamp. 11. Remove cable from routing bracket (Fig. 256) 12. Remove cable-to-transaxle nut and slide cable off of stud (Fig. 255). 13. Disconnect shifter cable from shift lever assembly at transaxle (Fig. 255). 14. Remove cable from underneath vehicle. INSTALLATION 1. Make sure transaxle shift lever is in “Park.” This is the most rearward position. Verify park sprag is fully engaged by rotating either a tire or an axle shaft. 2. Position cable in vehicle and connect cable end to the transaxle shift lever (Fig. 255). 3. Verify that the washer (Fig. 255) is still in place on the cable mounting stud. Install cable to transaxle and tighten nut to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.). 4. Rotate fill tube to original location. Install and tighten fill tube bracket bolt. 5. Install cable “push pin” into bracket as shown in (Fig. 254).

1. NOTE: To prevent cable damage, do not apply force to the transmission shift cable assembly between the steering column shift tube bracket and the steering column bracket. Disconnect the transmission shift cable from the steering column. 1. Disconnect the transmission shift cable from the steering column shift tube lever. 2. Carefully lift the locking tab and disconnect the transmission shift cable from the steering column bracket. 2. Disconnect the cable push pin from the stud in the bulkhead. 3. Push the rubber grommet and transmission shift cable through the bulkhead. 4. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02. 4R100 transmission 5. NOTE: To prevent shift cable assembly damage, do not apply force to the transmission shift cable between the manual control lever and the transmission shift cable bracket. Remove the transmission shift cable from the transmission. 1. Disconnect the transmission shift cable from the manual control lever. 2. Depress the lock tabs to release the transmission shift cable and disconnect the transmission shift cable from the transmission shift cable bracket. 6. Remove the shift cable bracket from the transmission. 1. Remove the bolts. 2. Remove the shift cable bracket. 7. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Adjust the shift cable. 1. NOTE: Make sure the parking brake control is fully released. Relieve the tension on the parking brake system. 1. Pull the front parking brake cable and conduit. 2. Insert a suitable retainer. 2. CAUTION: Do not use heat to loosen a seized lug nut (1012). Heat can damage the wheel and the wheel bearings. Remove the rear wheels and tires; loosen the lug nuts. 1. Remove the center cap. 2. With the weight of the vehicle on the wheels, loosen, but do not remove, the lug nuts. 3. WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM MUST BE SHUT OFF PRIOR TO HOISTING, JACKING OR TOWING AN AIR SUSPENSION VEHICLE. THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY TURNING OFF THE AIR SUSPENSION SWITCH LOCATED IN REAR JACK STORAGE AREA. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN UNEXPECTED INFLATION OR DEFLATION OF THE AIR SPRINGS WHICH MAY RESULT IN SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE DURING THESE OPERATIONS. Raise and support the vehicle; refer to Section 100-02 . 4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. 1. Remove the lug nuts. 2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. 5. Disconnect the (A) parking brake intermediate cable from the (B) parking brake rear cable and conduit, LH. 6. Separate the (A) RH parking brake rear cable and conduit from the (B) LH parking brake rear cable and conduit at the (C) parking brake cable equalizer. 7. Remove the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit from the parking brake cable bracket (2530). 1. Compress the parking brake cable clip. 2. Remove the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit from the parking brake cable bracket. 8. Remove the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit to LH parking brake rear cable and conduit clip. 9. Remove the (A) RH parking brake rear cable and conduit from the (B) rear parking brake cable retainer (2A709). 10. Remove the RH parking brake rear cable and conduit to the RH hydraulic brake line clip. 11. Remove the parking brake cable retainer clip (2A826). 1. Remove the parking brake cable retainer clip bolt. 2. Remove the parking brake cable retainer clip. 12. Unclip the parking brake rear cable and conduit from the brake line clip on top of the rear axle housing.

SYMPTOM When the engine is first started after the vehicle has sat overnight, customers may “feel” the release of the throttle plate through the accelerator pedal. Some describe it as a one-time “pop” sensation. Customers may have trouble explaining this phenomenon because: They can’t repeat it because it only happens one time, when the engine is cold. The accelerator pedal works normally at all other times. There are no other symptoms. It may be intermittent, happening only during cooler weather. PROBABLE CAUSE The symptom is caused by normal buildup of contaminants in the throttle bore, combined with expansion and contraction of the throttle body. CORRECTIVE ACTION Partially remove the throttle body, and clean it with Honda carburetor cleaner or throttle plate and induction cleaner. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Remove the breather tube from the air intake duct, unclip the vacuum lines from the duct, and remove the duct from the throttle body. See Fig. 1 . Fig. 1: Removing Air Intake Duct 2. Disconnect the TPS and MAP connectors from the throttle body. 3. Remove the throttle cable and, if equipped, the cruise control actuator cable from the throttle body. 4. Remove the throttle body mounting nuts and bolts, then slide the throttle body off its studs on the intake manifold chamber. Leave the coolant hoses connected. See Fig. 2 . 5. Put a shop towel under the throttle body, open the throttle, then clean out any contaminants from the intake manifold side of the throttle body with carburetor cleaner or throttle plate and induction cleaner. See Fig. 3 . NOTE: To avoid damaging the idle air control valve (IACV), spray the cleaner through the back of the throttle body, not the front.

Linkage Measurement CAUTION: Before attempting to test the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), verify the linkage adjustment dimension shown in the figure above. This dimension MUST be 126.5 mm (5.0 inches) BEFORE testing. For linkage adjustment procedures, refer to Throttle Linkage Adjustment. CAUTION: Before testing the TPS, verify that the engine is set at correct low idle speed. Refer to Idle Speed Adjustment. This can be found in the Fuel Delivery and Air Induction system adjustments section. 1. After confirming the correct linkage adjustment and idle speed, proceed to the following: Throttle Position Sensor Location 2. Attach a paper clip into the center terminal of the TPS electrical connector. Do not remove the connector from the TPS for this test. 3. Attach the positive lead of a voltmeter to this paper clip and the negative lead to a good ground. 4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Do not start engine. 5. The voltage at the TPS center terminal should be 1.0 volt (+/- 0.2 volt) with linkage at idle position. The voltage at the wide open throttle position
