Code 13 36CU DTC FF13 PCMF MAP SENSOR SIGNAL This DTC looks for a fluctuating vacuum signal during starting and monitors vacuum ‘V’ throttle position when the engine is running. Code 14 36CU DTC FF14 ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (ECTS) CIRCUIT This DTC looks for the ETCS signal voltage out of range or static during engine warm-up. Code 16 36CU DTC FF16 INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR (IATS) CIRCUIT This DTC looks for the IATS out of range. Powertrain DTC Summaries – OBD II FAULT DESCRIPTION MONITORING CONDITIONS CHECK ENGINE MIL (CK ENG) DEFAULT ACTION POSSIBLE CAUSES DTC Diagnostic Trouble Code. SYS The powertrain system with which the DTC is associated – EMS, TRANS, ABS/TC (DSC). DTC retrieval tools: OBD II – indicates that the DTC is an OBD II code and can be accessed via a generic scan tool or WDS. JAG – indicates that the DTC is not an OBD II code and is accessed only via WDS. Fault description. “DIAGNOSTIC MONITOR DRIVE CYCLE” for the particular DTC. Operate the vehicle as described to check for a reoccurrence of the DTC. Refer to pages 4 – 7. Use WDS Datalogger or Scan Tool to monitor specified engine parameter(s). 1 2 N OTHER Driver Warnings: N None R RED MIL / Message or Powertrain Warning Indicator A AMBER MIL / Message or Powertrain Warning Indicator C Charge indicator Control Module default action: Logged – DTC stored in ECM memory buffer; Flagged – DTC stored in ECM memory / CHECK ENGINE MIL activated. CM PIN ECM (SYS – EMS) / TCM (SYS – TRANS) Connector pin number(s) Possible causes are listed in the order of diagnostic checking. HIGH VOLTAGE – High voltage can be either sensor supply voltage (5 volts) or B+ voltage. 1 TRIP – indicates that the CHECK ENGINE MIL is activated by a fault occurring during ONE “TRIP”. 2 TRIPS – indicates that the CHECK ENGINE MIL is activated by a fault occurring during TWO CONSECUTIVE “TRIPS”. NO – indicates that the CHECK ENGINE MIL is not activated. OBD SYSTEM READINESS – ENGINE MANAGEMENT If DTC P1000 is flagged after DTCs have been cleared, all engine management OBD diagnostic monitor drive cycles HAVE NOT BEEN COMPLETED. If DTC P1111 is flagged after DTCs have been cleared, all engine management OBD diagnostic monitor drive cycles HAVE BEEN COMPLETED. OBD SYSTEM READINESS – TRANSMISSION Use WDS Datalogger “TOTAL NUMBER OF DTC SET” to determine if transmission OBD monitoring has been completed. Refer to page 7. OBD DIAGNOSTIC MONITORS The Engine Management and Transmission Control systems are continuously checked during vehicle operation by the Engine Control Module (ECM) and Transmission Control Module (TCM) on-board diagnostic (OBD) facilities. Powertrain OBD incorporates six diagnostic monitors. Each monitor has an associated group of DTCs. The diagnostic monitors will complete the diagnostic test(s) if a specified service “drive cycle” is carried out. Circuit Description The inflatable restraint steering wheel module deployment loop consists of a steering wheel module, steering wheel module coil, steering wheel module high control, and steering wheel module low control circuits. Shorting bars are used on the steering wheel module connector as well as the steering wheel module coil connector which will short together the steering wheel module high and steering wheel module low control circuits when the connector is disconnected. This will help to prevent unwanted deployment of the inflator module during servicing. When the ignition is turned ON, the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) performs continuous diagnostic tests on the deployment loops to check for proper circuit continuity and for shorts to ground or voltage. If a malfunction is detected, a DTC will be stored in memory. DTC Descriptors This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTCs: • DTC B0022 Driver Frontal Deployment Loop Resistance Low • DTC B0024 Driver Frontal Deployment Loop Voltage Out of Range • DTC B0026 Driver Frontal Deployment Loop Open Conditions for Running the DTC Ignition 1 voltage is within the normal operating voltage range. Conditions for Setting the DTC • DTC B0022 will set when the steering wheel module deployment loop resistance is less than 1.3 ohms for 500 milliseconds. • DTC B0024 will set when one of the following conditions occurs: – The SDM detects the voltage at steering wheel module high control is shorted to ground or voltage for 500 milliseconds. – The SDM detects the voltage at steering wheel module high control is less than 2.4 volts and steering wheel module deployment loop resistance is less than 6 ohms for 500 milliseconds. • DTC B0026 will set when one of the following conditions occurs: – The SDM detects the steering wheel module deployment loop resistance is greater than 4.8 ohms for 500 milliseconds. – The SDM detects the voltage at steering wheel module high control is less than 2.4 volts and steering wheel module deployment loop resistance is 6 ohms or greater for 500 milliseconds. Action Taken When the DTC Sets The SDM commands the AIR BAG indicator ON via class 2 serial data.

PROBLEM The IMA system indicator comes on and IMA DTC 77 (P1447) (battery module deterioration) or DTC 78 (P1449) (battery module deterioration) is set. CORRECTIVE ACTION Replace the battery module. If needed, replace the motor control module (MCM), the battery condition monitor (BCM), or both. INSPECTION PROCEDURE 1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0). 2. Remove the cargo floor mat (see page 20-44 of the 2000–04 Insight Service Manual). (In ISIS, use the keyword FLOOR MAT, and select Interior Trim Removal/Installation – Cargo Area from the list.) 3. Remove the battery module switch cover (two bolts), then remove the locking cover from the switch. 4. Flip the battery module switch to OFF. Reinstall the locking cover. 5. Wait at least 5 minutes to let the capacitors in the system discharge. 6. Remove the right trunk shelf support (five clips and two bolts). 7. Remove the six mid-frame cover bolts. Remove the intelligent power unit (IPU) lid (17 bolts). 8. Measure the voltage at the junction board terminals. There should be 30 V or less. If you read more than 30 V, there is a problem in the circuit; do the DTC troubleshooting first.

Circuit Description The PCM monitors system voltage on the PCM ignition feed circuit. If the system voltage is out of tolerance, DTC P0560 will be set. When the conditions that set DTC P0560 are present, operation of some vehicle systems and components may be affected. Conditions for Setting the DTC • The engine is running. • System voltage monitored at the PCM ignition feed circuit is less than 9 volts or greater than 16 volts. • Above conditions for longer than 25 seconds. Action Taken When the DTC Sets • The PCM will not illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). • The PCM will store conditions which were present when the DTC set as Failure Records data only. This information will not be stored as Freeze Frame data. Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC • A History DTC will clear after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles have occurred without a malfunction. • The DTC can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear Info function.
