When the ignition key is first turned to the RUN position, the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) compares the restraints ID that is stored in the SDM to the restraints ID that is stored in the BCM. The restraints ID that is being compared contains the last four digits of the SDM part number. Next, the SDM compares the VIN that is stored in the SDM to the VIN that is stored in the BCM. For more detailed information concerning the Class 2 data lines, refer to Data Link Connector Circuit Description in Data Link Communications. Conditions for Setting the DTC Ignition 1 voltage is within the normal operating voltage range. The restraints ID that is stored in the SDM does not match the restraints ID that is stored in the BCM or the VIN information that is stored in the SDM does not match the VIN information that is stored in the BCM. This test is only run once during power up initialization. Action Taken When the DTC Sets The SDM sets a DTC B1001. The SDM commands ON the AIR BAG warning lamp via Class 2 serial data. The SDM disables all deployments. Conditions for Clearing the DTC The restraints ID that is stored in the SDM matches the restraints ID that is stored in the BCM and the VIN information that is stored in the SDM matches the VIN information that is stored in the BCM.

Introduction Immobilizer Reset is a new feature that allows the registration of a new Master Key even if all original Master Keys are lost. Once the Immobilizer system is reset, all previously registered keys will be erased.Function
The Immobilizer Reset function is a 5-step process: Description 1. Using the Diagnostic Tester, retrieve a “Seed Number” through the OBD/MOBD Immobilizer function. S A “Seed Number” is a unique number provided by the Diagnostic Tester and validated by TIS in order to return a Passcode. 2. Using TIS, select Immobilizer Reset, and complete the request form to retrieve a “Passcode Number.”
S A “Passcode Number” is a unique number required by the Diagnostic Tester to reset the ECU allowing it to accept a new Master Key. 3. Enter the “Passcode Number” received from TIS into the Diagnostic Tester. 4. Confirm successful Immobilizer reset and new Master Key registration. 5. Register any additional customer keys.

TESTING 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Remove relay before testing. Using an ohmmeter, perform a resistance test between terminals 85 and 86. Resistance value (ohms) should be 75 15 ohms for resistor equipped relays. Connect the ohmmeter between terminals number 87A and 30. Continuity should be present at this time. Connect the ohmmeter between terminals number 87 and 30. Continuity should not be present at this time. Use a set of jumper wires (16 gauge or smaller). Connect one jumper wire between terminal number 85 (on the relay) to the ground side () of a 12 Volt power source. Attach the other jumper wire to the positive side (+) of a 12V power source. Do not connect this jumper wire to relay at this time. CAUTION: Do not allow the ohmmeter to contact terminals 85 or 86 during these tests. Damage to ohmmeter may result. 7. 8. Attach the other jumper wire (12\/ +) to terminal number 86. This will activate the relay. Continuity should now be present between terminals number 87 and 30. Continuity should not be present between terminals number 87A and 30. Disconnect jumper wires from relay and 12 Volt power source. 0 If continuity or resistance tests did not pass, replace relay. lf tests passed, refer to wiring diagrams for (fuel system) relay wiring schematics and for additional circuit information
