A MacPherson strut-type suspension is used. Suspension consists of a vertically mounted strut and coil spring assembly. Top of strut assembly is mounted to chassis frame; bottom is mounted to a ball joint, bolted to lower control arm. The steering knuckle/spindle assembly is an integral part of strut. 1989-90 BRAKES Volvo – Disc 240 Series, 740 Series, 760 Series DESCRIPTION All models use front and rear disc brakes. Three makes of calipers are used: ATE, Bendix (DBA) and Girling. Service brakes are hydraulically-operated by a tandem master cylinder and vacuum power brake unit. Each rear brake line has a pressure valve to prevent rear wheel lock-up. Parking brake is mechanically operated, using rear wheel disc rotor internally-mounted brake shoes. The procedure for replacing the power window winder motor is the same for both front and rear doors. Removal : Work with door open. Remove door panel. Wind window up as far as it will go. Fix window with tape, run tape over door frame. Undo winder motor screws. Undo connector. Installation : Connect connector to winder motor, fit it in place and put screws back in (torque setting 10 Nm/7.5 ft.lbf ). Remove tape holding window. Check that winder motor is working, wind window right down then right back up again. Reinstall door panel in reverse order.
