1. Remove door trim panel and water shield. 2. Remove door glass retaining clips and allow glass to rest on bottom of door. 3. If equipped, disengage wire connector from power window motor. Front Door Glass Window Lift Guides 4. Loosen screws holding front and rear window lift guides to inner door panel. 5. Separate screw heads on lift guides from key hole slots in inner door panel. 6. Extract rear lift guide through inner door panel access hole. 9. Extract front lift guide through access hole. INSTALLATION 1. Insert front lift guide through access hole. Front Door Window Regulator 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Insert rear lift guide through access hole. Place window regulator in position on inner door panel. Place screw heads on guide rails in position through key hole slots in inner door panel. Tighten screws to hold regulator to inner door panel. Place screw heads on lift guides in position through key hole slots in inner door panel.

Removal Procedure 1. Lower the window to the full down position. 2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement – Side Front Door (See: Body and Frame\Doors, Hood and Trunk\Front Door Panel\Service and Repair\Front Door Panel Replacement\Trim Panel Replacement – Side Front Door) . 3. Remove the radio speaker. Refer to Speaker Replacement – Front Door in Entertainment. 4. Remove the water deflector in order to access the window regulator. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement – Front Door (See: Body and Frame\Doors, Hood and Trunk\Front Door Panel\Service and Repair\Front Door Panel Components\Water Deflector Replacement – Front Door) . Disengage the door glass to the regulator sash channel clips (2). Separate the door glass from the sash channel (1). 6. Push the window to the up position and tape in place. 7. Loosen the power window regulator bolts. Remove the rear regulator bolt. 8. Lift the window regulator, disengaging the loosened bolts from the door. 9. Disconnect the regulator electrical connector. 10. Remove the power window regulator from the door. Installation Procedure

To improve power door window serviceability on SC 400/300, GS 300, and ES 300, a wire regulator subassembly is now available as separate supply parts. REPAIR PROCEDURES: ^ ^ ^ Verify motor operates properly. If the motor must be replaced, change the complete regulator assembly. If motor operation is correct, replace only the regulator subassembly. Use the following procedures when replacing the subassembly. 1992 Lexus SC 400 V8-4.0L (1UZ-FE) WINDOW REGULATOR DISASSEMBLY: 1. REMOVE COVER PLATE ^ Remove the two screws and cover plate; see figure 1. Note: The screws and cover plate are reusable. ^ Pry up the cover plate tab using a small flat-head screwdriver and remove the plate. Use care not to damage the motor housing; see figure 2. Note: The cover plate is not reusable. 2. REMOVE WINDOW REGULATOR DRUM AND WIRE GUIDE FROM MOTOR HOUSING USING NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS (SEE FIGURE 3). Caution: Do not use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the drum and wire guide. WINDOW REGULATOR INSTALLATION: 1. INSERT THE WINDOW REGULATOR DRUM INTO THE MOTOR HOUSING. 1992 Lexus SC 400 V8-4.0L (1UZ-FE) Note: ^ To prevent the window regulator drum and cable from coming off, do not tilt the drum, subject it to shocks or use force. If the cable comes off the drum, do not rewind the cable or reuse it. After the window regulator is installed, do not operate it manually (some window regulators do not utilize a stopper). ^ Multipurpose grease (P/N OO289-1WG00) should be applied to all moving parts, especially inside the motor housing and sides of the window regulator drum. Coupe and sedan front doors use a cross arm regulator. The following procedures are required for removal and replacement of both power and manual window regulators. Remove or Disconnect 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Door window. Electrical connector, if equipped. Nut. Rivets. Bolts/screws. Regulator. Install or Connect 1. Position regulator by inserting bottom through access opening, then rotate top through opening while lowering the regulator to clear the top of the access opening and align with holes in door inner panel. 2. Upper right base plate bolt/screw, followed by lower base plate bolt/screw. Tighten ^ Bolts/screws to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.). 3. Upper left rivet, followed by lower right rivet. 4. Cam arm bolt/screw. Tighten ^ Bolt/screw to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.). 5. Cam nut. Tighten ^ Nut to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.). 6. Electrical connector, if equipped. 7. Door window.

1. Lower the window glass until it is half down. 2. Remove the door trim panel.3. Remove the side impact bolster.4. Remove the door speaker (if equipped).5. Disconnect the speaker electrical connector. 6. Detach the door latch release handle.7. Detach the watershield. Using a plastic knife (disposable cutlery), cut through the Butyl strip to enable the watershield to be peeled back. CAUTION: Do not touch the adhesive surface as re-bonding will be impaired. 8. Detach the window glass from the regulator. 1. Push out the pin. 2. Push out the sleeve. 3. Remove the window glass from the regulator clamp.
