For additional information, refer to Section 310-00. 3. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor. 1. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector. 2. Disconnect the fuel pressure vacuum line. 4. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors and position the wiring harness to one side. 5. CAUTION: Do not loosen or bend the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) cable bracket. The bracket alignment is critical and damage to the IMRC actuator may occur. Disconnect the IMRC actuator cable from the stud and bracket. 6. NOTE: Remove the bolts in the indicated sequence. Remove the lower intake manifold and discard the gaskets. Installation 1. NOTE: Use new lower intake manifold gaskets. NOTE: Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence. Install the lower intake manifold. Install the gaskets with the locating holes facing downwards. Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Fuel vapor hoses EVAP canister Vapor management valve (VMV) 3. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step. 4. If the NGS tester does not power up, refer to the New Generation STAR tester manual. 5. Carry out the DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If the NGS tester responds with: CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70-ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, REFER to Section 418-00. NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Powertrain Control Module (PCM), REFER to Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual. System passed, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). 6. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index. 7. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, proceed to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. NOTE:Ford does not provide camshaft gear timing marks, or information to perform timing belt service without the special tools shown in this procedure. Special Service Tools: Timing Tool, Camshaft Alignment T94P-6256-CH Timing Peg, Crankshaft Position T97P-6000-A Cam Sprocket Holding/Removing Tool T74P-6256-B CAUTION: The maximum amount by which the engine management system will adjust the camshaft timing (VCT control unit) is limited to two degrees. As a result of this an extremely high degree of accuracy is required for any work which affects the valve timing. Note: The locations of engine mountings and engine support insulators are described looking from the transaxle to the engine. Note: Operation steps which only apply to certain model variants and therefore do not apply to all vehicles are clearly marked with the statement (if necessary). Installation
