You will also see how to change window glass and electric window motor in this series. First, unscrew the 7 screws holding on the door panel. Next you carefully pry off the tweeter cover that is where the mirror is. Lift the panel up and off of the door. Undo all of the wiring connections except for the window controller. Open the 2 black rubber view ports (Circled in Yellow) and roll the window up or down until you see the 10mm bolts that hold the window in place. Loosen, but don’t remove these bolts. Slide the window up, and tape it up, or remove the window and set aside. Next, unplug the door lock plug and move the door panel out of the way. Unscrew the gold 10mm bolts that hold on the metal inner door panel (circled in green in pic5). Also remove the Phillips screw that holds the inner door handle on (circled in red on pic 5) Unscrew the small bolt that holds on the lock cylinder that is behind the quarter-sized black cap on the side of the door. Be careful with that little bolt or it will fall into never never land .

DESCRIPTION: The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) of some 2006 Sonata vehicles equipped with 3.3 Liter engines may be programmed to be too sensitive, causing inadvertent brake application on banked curves. To correct this condition, the ESC ECU may be reprogrammed using the Hi-Scan Pro as described in this bulletin. VEHICLES AFFECTED: ^ Model: 2006 SONATA 3.3L vehicles with ESC ^ Affected vehicle production date range: ^ Produced from May 5, 2005 through June 10, 2005 ESC ECU SPECIFICATIONS: CAUTIONS BEFORE REPROGRAMMING: 1. Perform reprogramming with the ignition key in the “ON” position. 2. Be careful not to disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle or Hi-Scan Pro during reprogramming. WARNING : ^ When reprogramming the SONATA ESC ECU, the manual reprogramming mode [error mode] is not available. ^ If ESC ECU reprogramming is interrupted during the “ESC ECU software data download” process as a result of cable disconnection, power interruption or battery discharge, the ESC ECU must be replaced. 3. Do not start the engine during reprogramming. 4. Do not turn the ignition key OFF during reprogramming. 5. When the reprogramming is completed, wait for about 20 seconds and then start the engine to confirm proper operation of the vehicle. ESC ECU REPROGRAMMING: NOTE :Verify that the vehicle was manufactured within the affected production date range and the campaign is open per the DCS interactive screen. 1. Attach the Data Link Connector (DLC) cable to the Hi-Scan Pro main body and securely tighten the two bolts. 2. Remove the system software card from the Hi-Scan Pro and insert the reprogramming software card with the new ECU program into the Hi-Scan top slot.

REMOVAL 1. Remove the engine cover. 2. Disconnect ETS connector (A) 3. Disconnect CMP connector (A), and knock sensor connector (B). 4. Disconnect injector connector (A). 5. Remove the delivery pipe (A), brake vacuum hose (B), and PCSV hose (C). 6. Remove coolant hose (A) from throttle body. 7. Remove oil pressure switch connector (A) from bracket. 8. Remove knock sensor connector (A) from bracket. 9. Remove PCV hose (A). 10. Remove oil level gauge. 11. Remove intake manifold stay (A). 12. Remove intake manifold (A) and gasket (B). INSTALLATION 1. Install intake manifold. Tightening torque 18.62 – 27.44 Nm (1.9 – 2.8 kgf.m, 13.7 – 20.2 ft. lbs.) 2. Install intake manifold stay. Tightening torque 18.6 – 27.44 Nm (1.9 – 2.8 kgf.m, 13.7 – 20.2 ft. lbs.) 3. Install oil level gauge 4. Install PCV hose 5. Install air cleaner assembly 6. Install engine cover.

PACKAGE TRAY 1. Remove the trim. NOTE: Put on gloves to protect your hands. When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage. Take care not to bend or scratch the trim and panels. 2. Installation is the reverse of removal. NOTE: Replace any damage clips.
