1. Remove the heater air plenum chamber (18471) assembly as outlined. 2. Remove the four retaining screws from the heater core cover (18B300) and remove the heater core cover from the heater air plenum chamber assembly. Heater Core Removal 3. Pull the heater core (18476) assembly from the heater air plenum chamber assembly. Installation 1. Carefully install heater core assembly into the heater air plenum chamber assembly. Visually check to ensure that heater core case seal (18658) is properly positioned. 2. Position the heater core cover and install the four retaining screws. 3. Install the heater air plenum chamber assembly as outlined. Heater Air Plenum Chamber Removal 1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301). Refer to Section 14-01. 2. Disconnect the heater water hoses (18472) from the heater core tubes. Plug the ends of the heater water hoses to prevent coolant loss. 3. Plug heater core tubes securely to prevent coolant leakage from heater core (18476) during heater air plenum chamber removal. 4. Remove three nuts located below the windshield wiper motor (17508) retaining the LH end of the heater air plenum chamber (18471) to the dash panel (01610). 5. Remove one nut retaining the upper LH corner of the A/C evaporator core housing (19A559) to the dash panel. 6. Remove LH and RH lower instrument panel insulators. 7. Disconnect two vacuum supply hoses from vacuum source. Push grommet and vacuum supply hose into passenger compartment. 8. Remove all instrument panel retaining screws and pull the instrument panel (04320) back as far as possible without disconnecting any wire harnesses. 9. Loosen the RH door sill plate and remove the RH side cowl trim panel. 10. Remove cross body brace and disconnect wiring harness from A/C electronic door actuator motor (19E616) and disconnect the sensor tube from the evaporator case connector. 11. Disconnect the vacuum jumper harness at the multiple vacuum connector near the heater outlet floor duct (18C433). 12. Disconnect the white vacuum hose from the heater and A/C air inlet duct door vacuum

1. Remove the front door trim panel (23942). Refer to Section 01-05. Peel back the water shield if necessary to gain access to the mirror wiring connector. 2. Disconnect the wiring connector. Remove rear view mirror mounting hole cover (17K709) located above the front door trim panel (inside window sail cover) by using a flat blade screwdriver to carefully pry off. 3. Remove the three nuts retaining the outside rear view mirror (17682) to the front door (20124). 4. Pull outside rear view mirror away from the front door while guiding the wiring out of the front door. 5. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten nuts to 6-8 Nm (54-70 lb-in). Glass, Outside Mirror Removal NOTE: Power mirror and manual mirror glass replacement procedure ar similar. 1. Push in on the bottom of the glass until it stops. 2. Protect the mirror body with a rag or similar material at the top and insert a flat blade screwdriver between the mirror body and glass. 3. Pry on the glass until it snaps loose from motor assembly. Disconnect the heater wires from the glass, if equipped. 4. Remove the screwdriver and continue to pull the glass by hand until it is completely unsnapped from the motor assembly. Installation 1. Make sure the rubber gasket on the motor is properly installed on the motor assembly. 2. Reconnect heater wires to glass. 3. Position the glass assembly in the mirror, and push on the center of the glass to snap it in place. Push on glass until it is fully seated. Trim Cover Removal and Installation 1. Remove the rear view mirror mounting hole cover, located above the front door trim panel by using a flat blade screwdriver to carefully pry off. Care should be taken not to scratch paint. 2. To install, snap rear view mirror mounting hole cover into place. Be careful not to damage clips. Mirror Control Removal and Installation 1. Remove driver front door trim panel with mirror switch pigtail still attached to harness. 2. Reach around front door trim panel and disconnect switch harness from the main wire harness. 3. Using a small flat blade screwdriver, pry the outside rear view mirror control switch up from the front door trim panel. 4. Remove outside rear view mirror control (17B676).

Removal 1. Disconnect the fuel filler hose (A), the leveling hose (B) and the vacuum hose (C). 2. Open the fuel filler door and unfasten the filler-neck assembly mounting screws (A). 3. Remove the rear-LH wheel, tire, and the inner wheel house. 4. Remove the bracket mounting bolts (A) and remove the filler-neck assembly. Installation 1. Installation is reverse of removal.

REMOVAL 1. Remove the tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle. Remove the park brake cable for the wheel of the vehicle that is being worked on, from the parking brake cable equalizer). This is required to gain access to the star wheel. If the cable is not removed from the equalizer, the cable and spring inside of the brake drum is in the way of the star wheel. 2. Remove the rear brake shoe adjusting hole cover plug. 3. Insert a thin screwdriver into brake adjusting hole and hold adjusting lever away from notches of adjusting screw star wheel. 4. Insert Tool C-3784 into brake adjusting hole and engage notches of brake adjusting screw star wheel. Release brake adjustment by prying down with adjusting tool. 5. Remove rear brake drum from rear hub/bearing assembly. INSTALLATION 1. Adjust brake shoe assemblies so as not to interfere with brake drum installation. 2. Install the rear brake drums on the hubs. 3. Adjust rear brake shoes. 4. Install the removed park brake cable back on the park brake cable equalizer. 5. Install wheel and tire. 6. Tighten the wheel mounting stud nuts in proper sequence until all nuts are torqued to half specification. Then repeat the tightening sequence to the full specified torque of 129 Nm (95 ft. lbs.).

Control Assembly Removal 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the audio system trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Removal. 3. Remove the four controller retaining screws. 4. Pull out the controller to provide clearance for removal of the temperature control cable. 5. Disconnect the temperature control cable by gently prying the cable eyelet from the post on the controller. Unsnap the cable housing from the mechanical slide. Note the location of the cable and the housing for ease of installation. 6. Disconnect the electrical connectors. 7. Remove the vacuum hose connection block from the mode control switch. Control Assembly Installation 1. Connect the vacuum hose connection block to the mode control switch. 2. Press the cable end eyelet onto the post on the controller. 3. Attach the mechanical cable housing to its original control position.
