Engine Electrical > Firing Orders Firing Orders To avoid confusion, always replace spark plugs and wires one at a time. Replacing spark plugs and wires one at a time will help prevent incorrect wire routing or cross-firing resulting from an incorrect firing order. If more than one wire is to be disconnected at a single time, be sure to tag all of the cables to assure proper installation. Also, be disconnecting the cables, compare the firing order and routing to these diagrams and note any differences for installation purposes. This will help assure the wires are properly installed.

Condition Some customers may comment on a low oil level indicator lamp on and/or engine oil leak. Upon further investigation, the technician may find that the oil leak is at the oil pressure sensor that is threaded into the valve lifter oil manifold (VLOM) assembly and/or engine valley cover. Correction If the engine oil leak was found to be at the engine oil pressure sensor, then remove the oil pressure sensor and reseal with a pipe sealant with Teflon or equivalent, P/N 12346004 (in Canada, P/N 10953480). Refer to Engine Oil Pressure Sensor and/or Switch Replacement in SI.

2002-2004 Buick Rendezvous; 2001-2004 Chevrolet Venture (regular wheelbase), and Pontiac Aztek and Montana (regular wheelbase) vehicles. Variations in the manufacturing process or exposure to high temperatures may lead to a fracture of the fuel tank inlet check valve (ICV) on some of these vehicles. A fracture may allow fuel vapors to pass through and allow droplets of fuel to accumulate on the side of the fuel tank. SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Remove the fuel tank from the vehicle. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement in SI. 2. Install the new fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement in SI.

Circuit Description The control module enables the appropriate fuel injector on the intake stroke for each cylinder. An ignition 1 voltage is supplied directly to the fuel injectors. The control module controls each fuel injector by grounding the control circuit via a solid state device called a driver. Diagnostic Aids • Monitoring the fuel injector circuit status with a scan tool, while moving the fuel injector harness, may help to isolate an intermittent condition. • Performing the Fuel Injector Coil Test may help isolate an intermittent condition. Refer to Fuel Injector Solenoid Coil Test . • For an intermittent condition, refer to Intermittent Conditions . Test Description The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table. 4. This step tests for a short to ground on the ignition 1 voltage supply circuit of the fuel injector. 5. This step tests for an open ignition 1 voltage supply circuit between the injector fuse and a fuel injector electrical connector.

Circuit Description The PCM monitors system voltage on the PCM ignition feed circuit. If the system voltage is out of tolerance, DTC P0560 will be set. When the conditions that set DTC P0560 are present, operation of some vehicle systems and components may be affected. Conditions for Setting the DTC • The engine is running. • System voltage monitored at the PCM ignition feed circuit is less than 9 volts or greater than 16 volts. • Above conditions for longer than 25 seconds. Action Taken When the DTC Sets • The PCM will not illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). • The PCM will store conditions which were present when the DTC set as Failure Records data only. This information will not be stored as Freeze Frame data. Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC • A History DTC will clear after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles have occurred without a malfunction. • The DTC can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear Info function.
