Remove upper cover from radiator. Remove alternator cooling hose. Remove fan wheel and fan coupling from water pump, refer to Fan Clutch, Service and Repair. Lift expanding rivets from left and right sides of fan cowl. Press center of fan cowl gently backwards and disconnect guide tab. Extract fan cowl and fan jointly.Installation: When installing fan cowl, attach left and right tabs to radiator brackets. Connect guide tab in upper center.

Remove fan clutch with fan impeller and fan cowl, refer to Fan Clutch, Service and Repair. Drain and dispose of coolant. See: Coolant/Service and Repair Note: The water drain plug is located on the exhaust side on cylinder 2 in the engine block. Installation: Replace sealing ring of water drain plug. Tightening torque, refer to Specifications, Mechanical. Vent cooling system and check for leaks, refer to Cooling System, Service and Repair. See: Coolant/Service and Repair Pull locks and disconnect water hoses. Installation: Refer to general instructions for work on cooling system, refer to Cooling System, Service and Repair. Loosen nut (1). Release screws on thermostat housing, remove thermostat housing. Installation: Keep sealing faces clean and free of oil. 2000 BMW 323i (E46) L6-2494cc 2.5L DOHC (M52 TU) Note: Coolant thermostat is integrated in coolant thermostat housing and can only be replaced as a single unit. Installation: Replace gasket (1).

1994 Volvo 940 Compressor Clutch: Service and Repair Clutch, Belt Pulley, Bearing, Electromagnet – Replacement

Remove compressor. Remove compressor shaft seal. Mount compressor in vise. Use protective pads to prevent damage to unit. Remove clutch plate retaining nut Use counterhold 999 5596 (included in tool kit) and 19 mm jointed wrench (or ratchet with 19 mm socket). Pull off clutch plate. Use puller 999 5597 included in tool kit. Earlier puller 999 5304 may also be used. Remove inner snap ring Use snap ring pliers. Remove belt pulley. Use universal puller. Remove bearing snap ring. Press out bearings Place belt pulley on counterhold 999 5142. Press out bearings with drifts 999 1801 and 999 5137. Remove electromagnet. Undo supply lead clip. Remove screws and lift off electromagnet. NOTE Electromagnet is secured by snap ring on later version of compressor.
