You will also see how to change window glass and electric window motor in this series. First, unscrew the 7 screws holding on the door panel. Next you carefully pry off the tweeter cover that is where the mirror is. Lift the panel up and off of the door. Undo all of the wiring connections except for the window controller. Open the 2 black rubber view ports (Circled in Yellow) and roll the window up or down until you see the 10mm bolts that hold the window in place. Loosen, but don’t remove these bolts. Slide the window up, and tape it up, or remove the window and set aside. Next, unplug the door lock plug and move the door panel out of the way. Unscrew the gold 10mm bolts that hold on the metal inner door panel (circled in green in pic5). Also remove the Phillips screw that holds the inner door handle on (circled in red on pic 5) Unscrew the small bolt that holds on the lock cylinder that is behind the quarter-sized black cap on the side of the door. Be careful with that little bolt or it will fall into never never land .

Front Removal 1. Remove window regulator control switch housing by gently prying up, starting at the front. 2. Disconnect all connectors from window regulator control switch housing. 3. Remove inside door handle cup (22634) by gently prying at screwdriver slot with a screwdriver. 4. Remove screw directly beneath inside door handle. 5. Remove lower screw retaining front door trim panel (23942) to door inner panel. 6. On Grand Marquis only, pry up screw covers from door pull handle and remove screws and handle. 7. Lift front door trim panel upward and snap out trim panel. 8. Disconnect wire harnesses from door panel as required and remove front door trim panel. Installation 1. Connect wire harnesses to front door trim panel as required. 2. Install front door trim panel by pushing in and down until it snaps into place. 3. Install all self-tapping screws retaining front door trim panel to door inner panel. 4. On Grand Marquis only, install door pull handle, tighten screws and install screw covers. 5. POWER DOOR LOCKS Power door lock system allows all doors to be locked or unlocked using either front door lock switch. All doors can be mechanically locked or unlocked using respective locking knobs or from outside of vehicle using key. Driver’s or passenger’s door can also be unlocked by actuating inside door handle. On Sebring Convertible, trunk can be unlocked using switch inside vehicle. All 4-door models are equipped with child protection locks on rear doors. Lever is located on inside edge of door, near latch. Moving lever to engage lock will allow rear door to only be opened using outside door handle. On models with anti-theft system, power door lock system is integrated into anti-theft system. See ANTI- THEFT SYSTEMS – SEBRING CONVERTIBLE, SEBRING SEDAN & STRATUS SEDAN article. Locking or unlocking door with key will arm or disarm anti-theft system (if equipped), and cancel or activate illuminated entry feature. An optional central locking system is also a part of anti-theft system. Turning key in driver’s door to unlock position one time will unlock driver’s door. Unlocking passenger’s door with a key or turning driver’s door lock to unlock position 2 times within 5 seconds will unlock all doors. All models are equipped with a door lock inhibit function. Body Control Module (BCM) will ignore command to lock power door locks with ignition switch in ON position and driver’s door open. When door is closed or ignition key is removed, BCM will lock all door locks. All models are also equipped with automatic door locks. Doors will lock automatically when all doors are closed, vehicle speed exceeds 14-16 MPH and Throttle Position (TP) sensor is greater than 8-12 degrees. This feature can be enabled or disabled. If door lock switch is pressed for longer than eight consecutive seconds, BCM will disable door lock relay. Power latches are equipped with a thermal protection system which prevents latches from burning out.

1. Remove door escutcheon. 1. Holding door handle in the open position, remove the escutcheon securing screw cover. 2. Slacken and remove the escutcheon securing screw, remove escutcheon from door casing and return door handle to closed position. 2. Remove trim mat from rear of door pocket and slacken and remove the securing screw. 3. Position door switch pack for access. 1. Using a suitable plastic hook, release plastic stud and remove trim from front of door pocket. 2. Slacken and remove screw securing switch pack to door casing and position switch pack for access. 4. Slacken and remove screw securing casing to door bracket. 5. Remove door casing for access to multiplugs. 1. Release eight studs securing the casing to the door. 2. Position the casing for access and disconnect the door switch pack and puddle lamp multiplugs. 6. Remove door casing from vehicle and detach switch pack. 7. Remove puddle lamp lens. 1. Move puddle lamp lens securing tab downwards. 2. Slide lens downwards to release it from the lamp assembly. 3. Slacken and remove two screws securing the puddle lamp assembly to the casing and remove puddle lamp from casing.

REMOVAL PROCEDURE 1. Remove the inside door handle bezel. 2. Remove the upper door trim panel. 2.1. Use the J 38778 in order to release the retainer at the top of the upper door trim panel. 2.2. Lift the upper door trim panel upwards in order to remove. 2.3. Disconnect the wire harness to the tweeter. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. 2. 3. 4. Snap the jack screws (1) into the power drive unit (4). Push the mirror assembly in close to the power drive unit (4). Align the swivel (6) on the power drive unit (4) to the pivot points in the mirror backing plate. Push in the backing pirate until a click is heard.
