Condition The anti-theft alarm (ATA) may sound for no apparent reason after being armed DTC P1716, indicating an interior protection/tow sensor fault may be stored in the All Activity Module (AAM) as a result. The possible cause of this condition may be a software error in the security/trip computer tow sensor. Procedure 1. Verify that this service campaign has not already been performed (see step 5) 2. Replace the security/trip computer depending on the vehicle options (see WIS: AR54.21-P-9832GH Removing and installing trip computer control module and AR82.20-P-1100GH, Removing and installing front overhead control panel). 3. Version code the AMM using StarDiagnosis (DAS) or the Hand-Held Tester (HHT) as follows: ^ 09 Trip computer ^ Set to “present” (if equipped) ^ 12 ATA Interior/anti-tow protection ^ Set to present 4. Read out and erase any relevant DTC’s using StarDiagnosis or the HHT. 5. Affix the orange sticker supplied with the replacement computer to the inside of the garage door opener access panel or Home-link(R) universal access panel. Note: The orange sticker is used to identify the vehicle as having been retrofitted with a new security/trip or security computer. Do not confuse the aforementioned orange sticker with the orange or green sticker that may already be present on the replacement security/trip computers.

DTC FOR VARIABLE VALVE TIMING CONTROL FUNCTION APPLIED VEHICLES: All 1997 – 2007 with Variable Valve Timing APPLIED ENGINES: VQ35; VH41, VK45; VK56 IF YOU CONFIRM The MIL is on with any of the following DTCs stored: P0011, P0014, P0021, P0024, P1110, P1135, NOTE: The engine may also have Camshaft Sprocket rattle noise and/or other engine noise. ACTION Do Not replace the variable valve timing Solenoid Valve or the Sprocket(s) without performing the complete diagnostics indicated in the EC section of the Service Manual. The first steps in the complete diagnostic is to make sure the: • Engine oil is at the operating level; add oil if needed. Refer to the Service Manual for low oil level diagnoses if needed. • Oil pressure is normal when measured with a gauge at the pressure switch port. Refer to the Service Manual for low oil pressure diagnoses if needed.

Customer Concern: Tests/Procedures: Potential Causes: Tech Tips: Code C0660 will reset. 1. Check the RTD fuse located in the underhood fuse block. 2. Check for Battery Voltage (B+) on the Orange wire at the automatic level control air compressor pin F. 3. If less than B+ at pin F, check for a wiring and connection problem between the air compressor and the underhood fuse block. 4. Disconnect the compressor leveling module connector and check the resistance from the positive battery voltage circuit of the exhaust solenoid valve and the control circuit of the exhaust solenoid valve. Should be 30-90 ohms. 5. Check for B+ on the Dark Blue wire pin B at the air compressor with the exhaust solenoid commanded off. 6. Check for B+ at the Electronic Suspension Control module connector C2 pin B5 Dark Blue wire with the exhaust solenoid commanded off. 7. If there is B+ at the air compressor but not at the electronic suspension control, check for a wiring and connection problem between the air compressor and the electronic suspension control module. Air Suspension Compressor Vent Solenoid Electronic Suspension Control Ground Power Wiring Conditions for Setting the DTC C0660 • An open in the control circuit of the exhaust solenoid valve • A short to ground in the control circuit of the exhaust solenoid valve • A short to battery in the control circuit of the exhaust solenoid valve • An open in the battery positive voltage circuit of the exhaust solenoid valve • An open RTD fuse • A malfunctioning exhaust solenoid valve

Some 2005-2007 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit a speedometer and/or tachometer indicator issue. Symptoms may include intermittent, large inaccuracies, or jumping/bouncing/erratic pointers. ACTION Refer to the Service Procedure. SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Verify there are no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). If there are DTCs present, follow the appropriate procedure in the Workshop Manual to clear the DTC and resolve the concern. 2. Confirm that the axle ratio and tire size are properly configured in the ABS module. 3. For a speedometer related concern, If no DTCs are present, the issue may be with any of the following components: • Cluster • ABS Module • ABS Speed Sensor • Vehicle Wiring • If the symptom is a continuous (non-intermittent) large inaccuracy, ensure that the axle ratio and tire size are properly configured in the ABS module. To identify the cluster as the root cause: 1. Monitor the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) PID in the powertrain control module (PCM), and the speedometer needle position while stopped. 2. If the speedometer displays 5 MPH (8 Km/h) or more, and the VSS PID indicates zero, replace the instrument cluster. 3. With an assistant observing the diagnostic tool, drive the vehicle at 20, 40, and 60 MPH (32, 64, and 97 Km/h) as indicated on the diagnostic tool, and record the value indicated by the speedometer. 4. If the speed indicated on the diagnostic tool versus speedometer readings vary by more than ± 5 MPH, (8 Km/h) replace the instrument cluster. ABS Module Concern To identify if the ABS Module is the root cause, refer to diagnostic procedures in the Workshop Manual. For any customer complaints of jumping/bouncing/erratic speedometers, a wiring concern may exist which is severe enough to interrupt the signal, but not severe enough to totally open/short the circuit.

PROBLEM The IMA system indicator comes on and IMA DTC 77 (P1447) (battery module deterioration) or DTC 78 (P1449) (battery module deterioration) is set. CORRECTIVE ACTION Replace the battery module. If needed, replace the motor control module (MCM), the battery condition monitor (BCM), or both. INSPECTION PROCEDURE 1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0). 2. Remove the cargo floor mat (see page 20-44 of the 2000–04 Insight Service Manual). (In ISIS, use the keyword FLOOR MAT, and select Interior Trim Removal/Installation – Cargo Area from the list.) 3. Remove the battery module switch cover (two bolts), then remove the locking cover from the switch. 4. Flip the battery module switch to OFF. Reinstall the locking cover. 5. Wait at least 5 minutes to let the capacitors in the system discharge. 6. Remove the right trunk shelf support (five clips and two bolts). 7. Remove the six mid-frame cover bolts. Remove the intelligent power unit (IPU) lid (17 bolts). 8. Measure the voltage at the junction board terminals. There should be 30 V or less. If you read more than 30 V, there is a problem in the circuit; do the DTC troubleshooting first.
