Removal 1. CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301). 2. Remove the cover from the instrument panel fuse junction panel. 3. Remove the lower instrument panel steering column cover (044F08). 1. Remove the lower instrument panel steering column cover bolts. 2. Remove the lower instrument panel steering column cover. 4. Remove the (A) bulkhead electrical connectors from the (B) instrument panel fuse junction panel. 5. Remove the (A) instrument panel fuse junction panel bolts and remove the (B) interior fuse junction panel nuts. 6. Disconnect the (A) generic electronic module/central timer module (GEM/CTM) electrical connectors from the (B) GEM/CTM. 7. Remove the GEM/CTM screws and the GEM/CTM. Installation NOTE: When the battery (10655) is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy. 1. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Check for proper operation.

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE (1) The display does not show the radio information. – Reset the head unit using the recessed front panel button (see user manual) – Check the uni-link plug is fitted to the rear socket of the head unit. – Check the 14pin plug is installed into the adapter. – Check the connections to the adapter and head unit. – Check that the connection to the head unit remote power has been made (Step 5) – Consult your supplying dealer. (2) The steering wheel controls do not operate the head unit. – Reset the head unit using the recessed front panel button (see user manual) – Check that the 3.5mm jack plug is fitted into the 3.5mm socket of the head unit. – Check the correct fitting of the 14pin plug to the adapter. – Check for broken or loose wiring within the supplied harness. – Consult your supplying dealer. (3) The head unit does not operate after installation. – Reset the head unit using the recessed front panel button (see user manual) – Check all connections are pushed fully into the rear terminal block on the car head unit. – Check that there are no broken pins on the lead or rear terminal. – Check the supply fuse to the head unit. – Consult your supplying dealer.

SYMPTOM The engine does not start, and the immobilizer indicator is blinking (especially if the battery recently went dead and the engine was jump-started). PROBABLE CAUSE The immobilizer IMOES code has been erased. NOTE: This problem occurs only if all these conditions are met: • The security system is set. • The battery goes dead. • Battery power is connected to the vehicle, then disconnected in a very short period of time (milliseconds). If the vehicle meets these conditions, or if the condition is unknown, go to DIAGNOSIS. CORRECTIVE ACTION Replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (MICU). DIAGNOSIS NOTE: When the immobilizer system is not allowing the engine to start, the results vary depending on the model and how quickly the ignition key is turned. 2006 Civic 2-Door, 4-Door, Si, and GX • If you quickly turn the ignition switch from LOCK (0) to START (III), the engine starts and runs for about 1 second, then shuts off. • If you turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then pause before turning to START (III), the starter cranks, but the engine does not start. • When the ignition switch is returned to LOCK (0), the indicator blinks 10 times. 2006 Civic Hybrid • During moderate weather conditions, if you turn the ignition switch to START (III), the gauges and gauge indicators come on, but the engine does not crank. • During extremely cold conditions (about 0° F or lower) or a low IMA battery: – If you turn the ignition switch quickly from LOCK (0) to START (III), the starter motor, not the IMA motor, cranks the engine and it runs for about 1 second, then shuts off. – If you turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then pause before turning to START (III), the starter motor, not the IMA motor, cranks the engine but it does not start. • When the ignition switch is returned to LOCK (0), the indicator blinks 10 times.

Circuit Description The control module enables the appropriate fuel injector on the intake stroke for each cylinder. An ignition 1 voltage is supplied directly to the fuel injectors. The control module controls each fuel injector by grounding the control circuit via a solid state device called a driver. Diagnostic Aids • Monitoring the fuel injector circuit status with a scan tool, while moving the fuel injector harness, may help to isolate an intermittent condition. • Performing the Fuel Injector Coil Test may help isolate an intermittent condition. Refer to Fuel Injector Solenoid Coil Test . • For an intermittent condition, refer to Intermittent Conditions . Test Description The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table. 4. This step tests for a short to ground on the ignition 1 voltage supply circuit of the fuel injector. 5. This step tests for an open ignition 1 voltage supply circuit between the injector fuse and a fuel injector electrical connector.
