Removal 1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01. 2. Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to Section 303-03. 3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to Section 303-12. 4. Disconnect the fuel line. For additional information, refer to Section 310-00A or Section 310-00B. 5. Remove the wiper arm and pivot shaft. For additional information, refer to Section 501-16. 6. Remove the drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section 303-05. 7. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02. 8. Disconnect the electrical connector at the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor. Disconnect the pin-type retainer from the A/C compressor bracket. 9. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C compressor. 10. Remove the oil bypass filter. 11. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector and the power steering pressure (PSP) switch electrical connector. 12. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube from the exhaust manifold.

Disconnect the pin-type retainer from the A/C compressor bracket. 9. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C compressor. 10. Remove the oil bypass filter. 11. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector and the power steering pressure (PSP) switch electrical connector. 12. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube from the exhaust manifold. 13. Lower the vehicle. 14. Disconnect the two differential pressure feedback EGR hoses. 15. Disconnect the RH heated oxygen sensor electrical connector. 16. Disconnect the fuel charging wiring electrical connectors from the eight ignition coils. 17. Disconnect the fuel charging wiring electrical connectors from the eight fuel injectors. 18. Disconnect the accelerator cable and the speed control actuator cable. 19. Remove the cables from the EGR tube heat shield and position out of the way. 20. Remove the bolts and the EGR tube heat shield.

Before working on or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury. 1. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301). For additional information, refer to Section 414-01. 2. Relieve the fuel pressure. For additional information, refer to Section 310-00A (Gasoline) or Section 310-00B (Natural Gas). 3. Disconnect the fuel lines. For additional information, refer to Section 310-00A (Gasoline) or Section 310-00B (Natural Gas). 4. Remove the throttle body (9E926). For additional information, refer to Throttle Body in this section. 5. On gasoline engines, remove the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube (9D477). For additional information, refer to Section 303-08. 6. Remove the drive belt (8620). For additional information, refer to Section 303-05. Vehicles equipped with natural gas engines 7. Disconnect the fuel temperature sensor connector. 8. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor connector. All vehicles 9. Disconnect the main fuel shut-off solenoid connector. 10. Disconnect the generator cable, electrical connector, and harness pin-type retainer. 11. Remove the bolts and the generator mounting bracket (10153). 12. Remove the bolts. 13. Unclip the accelerator cable (9A758) and the speed control actuator cable (9A825) from the two crash brackets and position out of the way. 14. Separate the LH heated oxygen sensor and the transmission electrical connector from the bracket at the rear of the cylinder head. 15. Separate the fuel charging wiring pin-type retainer from the crash bracket. 16. Remove the wiring bracket. Disconnect the wiring connectors. Separate the transmission harness from the stud. Remove the nut and the bolt and remove the bracket.

Removal 1. Note the routing of the clutch slave cylinder to clutch master cylinder tube (7A512) line from clutch master cylinder (7A543) to the clutch slave cylinder. 2. Remove retainer pin from clutch master cylinder holding clutch slave cylinder to clutch master cylinder tube in place. 3. Raise the vehicle and install suitable safety stands. 4. Disconnect clutch slave cylinder to clutch master cylinder tube from external clutch slave cylinder. On vehicles equipped with concentric clutch slave cylinders, remove tube using Clutch Coupling Tool T88T-70522-A. Installation 1. Follow the removal procedures in reverse order. 2. Bleed system. MODELS: 1994 CHEVROLET AND GMC C/K TRUCKS WITH GASOLINE ENGINES The timing connector, which can be disconnected to return engine timing to base for adjustment purposes, has been moved from the engine compartment to inside the cab. This new location is not currently reflected in the Service or Owner’s Manual. The new location is under the dash directly below the glove compartment. The tan/black wire is routed for a short distance outside of a large wiring harness. This large harness is routed between the heater blower motor and evaporator case. The timing connector is taped to the wire bundle (Figure 1).
