Valve Bodies and Intermediate Band Servo NOTE: If a transmission has been disassembled to replace worn or damaged parts and the valve body sticks repeatedly from foreign material, the torque converter must be removed and cleaned by using a mechanically agitated cleaner, such as Rotunda Torque Converter/Oil Cooler Cleaner 014-00028 or equivalent. Removal If solenoid valve body is going to be replaced: Remove solenoid body connector heat shield and loosen both bolts using an 8mm socket. Remove slotted heat shield. CAUTION: Do not attempt to pry tab with pry bar or screwdriver. Remove the heat shield from the transmission before attempting to remove the connector. Remove solenoid body connector by pushing on the center tab and pulling on the wire harness. Check electrical connectors for terminal condition, corrosion and contamination. Repair or replace as required. 1. Position a drain pan under transmission. 2. Remove all transmission pan bolts except the front ones using a 10mm socket. Loosen only the front bolts at this time. 3. Pry the rear of the pan down and allow the fluid to drain. 4. Remove front pan bolts using a 10mm socket. Remove transmission pan. 5. Remove pump inlet filter and seal assembly by carefully pulling and rotating the filter as necessary. If seal remains in bore, carefully remove using O-Ring Tool T71P-19703-C. NOTE: Discard pump inlet filter and seal. CAUTION: Use care not to scratch or damage aluminum pump bore. 6. Remove 11 accumulator body bolts using an 8mm socket and two nuts using a 10mm socket. Remove accumulator body assembly. NOTE: If separator plate is to be left on the transmission, use one of the reinforcing plate bolts in the hole shown to prevent front of plate from sagging and displacing balls. 7. Remove 14 main control body bolts using an 8mm socket and two nuts using a 10mm socket. Remove main control body. NOTE: Do not remove the two bolts as shown on illustration. This will keep the upper and lower control bodies attached as an assembly. 8. Remove nine solenoid body bolts using a T30 Torx® bit and one nut using a 10mm socket. Push down on solenoid body receptacle to remove solenoid body. 9. Remove solenoid screen by rotating and pulling it out. 10. Remove reinforcing plate bolts using an 8mm socket. Remove plate. 11. Lower separator plate and gasket carefully so that check balls, EPC ball and spring are retained. 12. Remove intermediate accumulator regulator filter and spring assembly. Clean or replace filter as required. 13. Depress retaining plate, remove retaining ring, retaining plate, servo piston and rod assembly and servo spring. Installation

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01. 2. Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to Section 303-03. 3. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube. For additional information, refer to Section 303-12. 4. Disconnect the fuel line. For additional information, refer to Section 310-00A or Section 310-00B. 5. Remove the wiper arm and pivot shaft. For additional information, refer to Section 501-16. 6. Remove the drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section 303-05. 7. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02. 8. Disconnect the electrical connector at the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor. Disconnect the pin-type retainer from the A/C compressor bracket. 9. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C compressor. 10. Remove the oil bypass filter. 11. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector and the power steering pressure (PSP) switch electrical connector. 12. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube from the exhaust manifold. 13. Lower the vehicle. 14. Disconnect the two differential pressure feedback EGR hoses. 15. Disconnect the RH heated oxygen sensor electrical connector. 16. Disconnect the fuel charging wiring electrical connectors from the eight ignition coils. 17. Disconnect the fuel charging wiring electrical connectors from the eight fuel injectors. 18. Disconnect the accelerator cable and the speed control actuator cable. 19. Remove the cables from the EGR tube heat shield and position out of the way. 20. Remove the bolts and the EGR tube heat shield.

BACKGROUND Prolonged high under-hood temperatures may cause the power steering hose to deteriorate prematurely and may cause the hose to crack and leak power steering fluid. Power steering fluid leaking onto a hot exhaust pipe will generate smoke and could lead to an under- hood fire. CORRECTIVE ACTION Install a power steering feed hose kit. PARTS INFORMATION Power Steering Feed Hose Kit: P/N 06530-SEC-A00 (Contains power steering feed hose [with power steering pump-side O-ring attached] and power steering pressure switch O-ring.) REPAIR PROCEDURE NOTE: Take care not to spill power steering fluid on the body and other parts. Wipe off any spilled fluid at once. 1. Raise the power steering reservoir, then disconnect the return hose, and drain the reservoir. Plug the return hose nipple with a suitable cap. POWER STEERING RESERVOIR 6. Remove the power steering heat shield, then lower the vehicle to the ground. RETURN HOSE HOSE 7. Disconnect the power steering pressure switch connector. UPPER LEVEL LINE CONNECTOR 2. Connect a hose of suitable diameter to the disconnected return hose, and put the hose end in a suitable container. 3. Start the engine, let it run at idle, and turn the steering wheel from lock-to-lock several times. When fluid stops running out of the hose, shut off the engine. Discard the fluid. NOTE: Inspect the reservoir screen for any debris. If the reservoir screen is clogged, replace the reservoir. 4. Remove the cap from the return hose nipple on the reservoir, then reinstall the return hose on the reservoir. 5. Raise the vehicle on a lift, and make sure it is securely supported. 1. The PCM is located between driver’s side front fender and power distribution center, near battery. See Fig. 1 . Disconnect negative battery cable and then positive battery cable from battery. 2. Remove bolts on side of power distribution center that secure power distribution center to mounting bracket. Remove heat shield from outside of battery. Remove battery. 3. Rotate power distribution center toward the engine to disengage power distribution center from rear mounting bracket. Pull power distribution center toward rear of vehicle to disengage power distribution center from front mounting bracket. 4. Allow power distribution center to lay aside for access to PCM. Remove electrical connectors from PCM. Electrical connectors may be removed by squeezing tabs on electrical connector together and pulling electrical connector from PCM. Remove bolts and PCM. To install, reverse removal procedure.

1) Lower exhaust by removing bolt in rear rubber hanger. Remove exhaust hear shield. 2) Fishwire the 1/2″ bolt and into position using access hole as shown. NOTE: Fishwire bolt through frame on inside of frame rail. 3) Place U-bolts into position as shown in the above diagram. 4) Raise hitch into position, being carefull not to push fasteners into frame. 5) Attach hitch with remaining fasteners as shown. 6) Torque all 1/2″ fasteners to 75 lb-ft, and all 3/8″ fasteners to 30 lb-ft. 7) Re-install heat shield. Raise exhaust into position, and re-install original bolt. PERIODICALLY CHECK THIS RECEIVER HITCH TO ENSURE THAT ALL FASTENERS ARE TIGHT AND THAT ALL STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS ARE SOUND.
