The vehicle security module monitors the door ajar and remote keyless entry (RKE) status. Based on the door ajar status (doors, liftgate, and liftgate glass), the instrument cluster then energizes the interior lamp relay. When the relay is energized, voltage is supplied to the interior lamp circuits. The interior lamps all receive voltage from the instrument cluster through circuit 53 (BK/LB). Voltage is only provided when the instrument cluster receives a request for interior lamps from either the vehicle security module (when a door, or the liftgate/liftgate glass is opened) or the headlamp switch (when the interior lamp switch is placed in the interior lamps on position). The ajar switches are normally closed (with the doors, or liftgate/liftgate glass closed), and when a door or the liftgate/liftgate glass is opened, the ajar switch is opened alerting the vehicle security module that a door is ajar.
