APPLICABLE MODEL(S) / VINS 2001-2007 Truck / B-Series (2.3L Only) 2005-2006 Tribute (2.3L Only) 2003-2007 Mazda6 (2.3L Only) 2004-2007 Mazda3 (2.0L & 2.3L) 2006-2007 Mazda5 2006-2007 Mazda MX-5 2006-2007 Mazdaspeed6 2007 Mazda CX-7 2007 Mazdaspeed3 DESCRIPTION When removing or replacing the crankshaft pulley on a 2.0L (Mazda3 only) or a 2.3L engine, be sure to follow the Workshop Manual procedures. The crankshaft pulley is not keyed to the crankshaft, and when loosened, it may move out of position on the crankshaft. The engine MUST be re-timed whenever the crankshaft pulley bolt is loosened, removed, or replaced. For normal aspirated engines, follow the Workshop Manual procedures and time the engine using Special Tools (Crankshaft Alignment Pin 303-507, Camshaft Alignment Timing Tool 303-465 and a standard M6 X 1.0 X 2.25 bolt). For direct injection spark ignition engines, follow the Workshop Manual procedures and time the engine using Special Tools (Crankshaft Alignment Pin 303-507, Camshaft Alignment Timing Tool 303-1061 and a standard M6 X 1.0 X 2.25 bolt). Please refer to the Mazda Job Aid on MS3 under Training titled “Engine Timing Verification and Correction LF2.0L and L3/L3T 2.3L” for more information. CAUTION: Engine damage will occur if the engine is not re-timed properly. Refer to applicable Workshop Manual (Section 01-10 – MECHANICAL – 2.0L (Mazda3 only) or 2.3L). NOTE: Damage to an engine caused by not following proper Workshop Manual procedures may result in denial of warranty claims or back charges.

Some vehicles equipped with the folding soft top may experience water accumulation in the foot wells due to the soft top drains becoming clogged with leaves and other debris. 1736a DRAIN COVER DRAIN VALVE ASSEMBLY As mass production changes: – A filter has been added to the drain valve assembly to prevent leaves or other foreign substance from clog- ging the drain. – Ribs have been added to the upper and lower valves of the drain valve assembly to prevent the valves (rub- ber flaps) from being forced out of position in the event compressed air is used to clear the drains from under the vehicle. – A foam urethane filter has been established for the drain cover. Vehicles with clogged drains should have the drain assemblies updated as described in the following repair pro- cedure, also included in this bulletin are maintenance tips for the customers to perform to ensure dependable operation of these drains. REPAIR PROCEDURE NOTE: Removal of the soft top is not required to perform the repair procedure. Illustrations in this bulletin are for component identification and location purposes only. 1. Verify customer concern. 2. Remove rear package trim according to Workshop Manual (section 09 -17 REAR PACKAGE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION) and related components, then remove the left and right side shelves according to Workshop Manual (section 09-17 SIDE SHELF REMOVAL/INSTALLATION). 3. Remove the seat belt retractors and covers according to Workshop Manual (section 08-11 SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION). – - TYPE A VEHICLES: Proceed to next step. TYPE B VEHICLES: Proceed to “TYPE B VEHICLES” under DRAIN VALVE REPLACEMENT. 4. Using seat belt retractor holes for access, remove the drain valve assemblies. DRAIN COVER FILTER INSTALLATION 1. Clean and degrease the drain cover assemblies.

When removing the side wall of the center console panel during service, care must be taken and proper sequence must be followed or the clips and/or hooks on the side wall may break requiring replacement of the side wall. For proper removal of the sidewall, please refer to the following procedure. REPAIR PROCEDURE When removing the side wall(s) of the center console during servicing, care must be taken and the proper pro- cedure must be followed or the clips and/or hooks on the side wall(s) may be broken, requiring unnecessary replacement of the side wall(s). CAUTION: 1. Using a plastic windshield setting tool or equivalent insert between side wall and center panel, then carefully pry rearward (toward rear of vehicle) to disengage clips and hooks. • DO NOT forcibly pull the side wall outward (to the side), to prevent damage. NOTE: • Plastic Windshield Setting Tool (Part Number IS742 – available from Equalizer at 800-334-1334) or similar available through a local supplier. If a flat-tipped screwdriver is to be used, wrap the tip in tape to prevent damage to the center console or the shift panel. • PLASTIC WINDSHIELD SETTING TOOL 1501a 2. Carefully pull the side wall rearward to disengage pins “C” and remove. 3. To install, place pins “C” in place and slide forward (toward front of vehicle) until clips “A”, “B” and hook “D” engage.

vehicles may experience a popping noise from AM radio stations when passing over bumps. This symp- tom will be present only when AM band is selected. Due to insufficient crimping, poor contact occurs at antenna feeder connectors 1 and/or 2. As a mass produc- tion change, the crimping of the antenna feeder connectors has been revised. Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure. 2. Replace antenna feeders No. 1 and No. 2 with modified ones. • For antenna feeder No. 1, refer to ANTENNA FEEDER NO. 1 REPLACEMENT procedure. • For antenna feeder No. 2, refer to the appropriate procedure. – For soft top equipped models, refer to ANTENNA FEEDER NO. 2 REPLACEMENT – SOFT TOP pro- cedure. – For retractable hard top equipped models, refer to ANTENNA FEEDER NO. 2 REPLACEMENT – POWER RETRACTABLE HARD TOP procedure. NOTE: • If vehicle is equipped with detachable hardtop (not retractable), detachable hardtop must be removed before performing this procedure. 3. Verify repair.
