1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Remove the hole covers by inserting a small, tape-wrapped, flathead screwdriver into the slot and carefully prying them off without scratching the center lower panel. Pry up and pull off the hole covers carefully to prevent the posts from breaking off. 3. With the beveled parts of the SST facing inward, insert them into the audio unit. 4. Pull the SST as shown to slide out the audio unit. 5. Disconnect the audio unit connector and antenna jack to remove the audio unit. INSTALLATION CAUTION: Make certain that the wiring harness and antenna feeder are not caught between the audio unit and center lower panel. If the harness or antenna feeder is caught between the audio unit and center lower panel, it may become the cause of trouble or malfunctions. 1. 2. 3. 4. Connect the audio unit connector and antenna jack. Insert the audio unit until each clip clicks. Insert the hole covers. Connect the negative battery cable.

Full-auto Air Conditioner 1. Connect battery positive voltage to terminal E or F and ground to terminal F or E of the airflow mode actuator. 2. Verify that the airflow mode actuator operates as shown. If not as specified, replace the airflow mode actuator. 3. Verify that the resistance between the terminals of the airflow mode actuator is as shown in the graph. If not as specified, replace the airflow mode actuator. Manual Air Conditioner Operating inspection 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Turn the fan switch to OFF. Turn the mode dial to VENT. Turn the ignition switch to ON position, (engine ON) Turn the fan switch 4th position. Turn the mode dial from VENT to DEFROSTER. 6. Verify that the airflow mode actuator moves smoothly. If not as specified, inspect the airflow mode main link and sub link for clogging and deformity. If the actuator cannot move at all, go to voltage inspection. Voltage inspection 1. Disconnect the airflow mode actuator connector. 2. Turn the ignition switch to ON position, (engine OFF) 3. Verify that the voltage between the terminals of airflow mode actuator (harness-side) is as shown in the table. If not as specified, perform the harness inspection and mode switch inspection. (See CLIMATE CONTROL UNIT INSPECTION, Manual Air Conditioner.) If as specified, replace the airflow mode actuator.

from the transaxle with a pry bar. Caution: Do not damage the dust cover or oil seal. 8. If the driveshaft is stuck in the wheel hub, install a nut flush with the end of the axle shaft. Tap with a copper or brass hammer until the drive shaft pops clear.

1. Disconnect the relative battery cable if equipment with power window. 2. Remove the inner garnish. 3. Remove the regulator handle if equipped. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. Remove the fasteners. Remove the cover. Remove the screw A. Remove the screw B. Remove the lens or cap. Remove the screw C. Disengage clips D from the body using a fastener remover. Pull the front door trim upward, then disengage hooks E from the body. Extract the inner handle from the front door trim. 13. Disconnect the door lock switch connector and the power window main switch connector if equipped. (driver’s side) 14. Disconnect the power window sub switch connector if equipped. (passenger’s side) 15. Remove the courtesy light if equipped. 16. Remove the front door trim. 17. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Removal Turn crankshaft to No. 1 TDC. Drain coolant. Remove fan belt and timing belt upper cover. Remove wheel well splash shield, crankshaft pulley and timing belt lower cover. Remove tensioner and timing belt. Remove water pump inlet pipe. Remove water pump and gasket. Installation To install, reverse removal procedure. During assembly, apply a coating of vegetable oil to “O” ring. See TIMING BELT R & I for alignment and adjustment procedures. Fill cooling system.
