2009–2010 Toyota Corolla Water Condensation Dripping From Headliner

Some 2009 – 2010 Corolla vehicles may exhibit a condition where water drips from the gap between the headliner and the A-Pillar garnish. Use the following repair procedure to correct this condition. Repair Procedure 1. Remove headliner. For headliner removal instructions, refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model year Repair Manual: 2009 Corolla: Vehicle Interior – Interior Panels/Trim – “Roof Headlining: Removal” 2010 Corolla: Vehicle Interior – Interior Panels/Trim – “Roof Headlining: Removal” 2. Wipe down the roof panel with a dry towel. Be sure to remove all moisture before sticking the felt and the roof silencer padding to the roof panel. 3. Add felt to roof panel area. Figure 1. A. Add 3 NEW pieces of felt (63351-12070) on the roof panel behind the map light bracket as shown in Figure 2. Figure 2. B. Cut pieces of the roof silencer padding (63341-02160 / 63342-02200) into smaller pieces. (1) For P/N 63341-02160, cut in the following sequence as shown in Figure 4: 1 – 2 – 3 (2) For P/N 63342-02200, cut two pieces of foam in half along the center to divide in equal pieces as shown in Figure 6, to obtain 4 individual pieces. (3) Cut one piece of Foam (P/N 63342-02200) as shown in Figure 7. (4) Apply pieces of the roof silencer padding (63341-02160 / 63342-02200) in the areas as shown in Figure 8. Figure 8. A. Stick ?lm/tape (63314-12180) on the back side of the roof headliner near the A-Pillar garnish area as shown in Figures 10 & 11. Tape should be added on both driver & passenger side of the vehicle. B. Stick felt (63351-12070) on the back side of the roof headliner. This felt should be added on the driver and passenger side near the B-Pillar garnish areas as shown in Figures 10 & 12. C. Stick felt (63351-12070) on the back side of the roof headliner. This felt should be added on the driver and passenger side near the C-Pillar garnish areas as shown in Figures 10 & 13. 5. Install the headliner in the reverse order of removal. NOTE: To avoid damage to window or paintwork 3 Unscrew bolts (A) at hinges Screw for side window hinge to C pillar = 12 Nm 4 Pull back cover at opening mechanism Pull back cover at opening mechanism NOTE: For access to connecting point at opening mechanism. 5 Remove window NOTE: Caution: Do not damage window and paint if adhesive tape or support is removed Extend window toward top (B). Check seal. If necessary, replace seal of side window. 6 Install in the reverse order

1. Remove rear seats. Refer to Section 01-10. 2. Remove coat hook screw and coat hook cover (29024). Coat Hook 3. Remove front door scuff plate (13209) as outlined. 4. Remove front safety belt bezel. Remove front safety belt guide bolt from the B-pillar. 5. Remove front safety belt retaining bolt from front floor pan (11135). 6. Remove upper quarter trim panel (31012) by carefully prying off front edge of lower quarter trim panel and then rear edge. 7. Remove rear safety belt from slot in quarter trim panel. 8. To remove lower quarter trim panel, remove three push pins at rear, one at bottom and one at top of quarter trim panel and pull rear of quarter trim panel out and forward. 9. Route front safety belt retractor and tongue (611B08) through opening in front safety belt retractor and tongue. 10. Remove quarter trim panel from vehicle. 11. Remove quarter trim panel shield if necessary. 12. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten safety belt mounting bolts to 30-40 Nm (23-29 lb-ft). Upper Quarter Trim Panel Trim Panel, Quarter—Convertible Removal and Installation 1. Remove rear seats. Refer to Section 01-10. 2. Remove front door scuff plate (13208). 3. Remove upper radio speaker grille (18978) by pulling outward. 4. Remove pushpins at rear and bottom of quarter trim panel. 5. Remove pushpin from top of quarter trim panel at top well area. 6. Remove front safety belt retaining bolt at floor pan. 7. Pull out and forward on quarter trim panel. 8. Remove clip on safety belt opening. Remove front safety belt retractor and tongue. Feed front safety belt retractor and tongue through radio speaker opening. Remove quarter trim panel. 9. Remove quarter trim panel shield if necessary. 10. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Removing Remove cover – 4 – with a screwdriver. Remove screws – 1 – and – 3 – and take triangular shaped trim – 2 – off towards rear – arrow – . Remove A pillar lower trim General body repairs, interior – Repair Group 68 Disconnect multi-pin connectors – 1 – on A pillar – 2 – . Take cover – 1 – for wiring harness – 2 – out of body opening in the inner A pillar. Pull wiring harness out of A pillar at boots – 1 – between door and A pillar. Remove bolt – 1 – of door arrester – 2 – . To prevent damage to paint work, mask lower edge of fender – 2 – in area of lower hinge – 3 – with textile reinforced adhesive tape – 1 – . Pull cover cap – 1 – off grub screw on lower hinge. Remove grub screw – 2 – on lower hinge. Torque setting: 13 Nm If access to the grub screw through the gap between door and A-pillar is not possible, or is extremely difficult, then proceed as follows: Release rear half of front wheel housing ( Front wheel housing liner) in area of A pillar so that access to the fender securing points along the A pillar is possible. Remove bolts – 1 – and nuts – 2 – . Carefully pull fender – 1 – off A pillar – arrow – and block fender (e.g. with a plastic wedge). Pull cover cap off grub screw if necessary and remove grub screw – 2 – from lower hinge. Torque setting: 13 Nm Remove block from fender after removing grub screw.

Slide plenum chamber center cover -1- forward out of its locking device and remove of dash panel -arrow-. Remove screws -1- (Qty. 3). Lift left-hand plenum chamber cover -1- in center of instrument panel -arrow A-, this action unclips panel (front and rear edges are clipped). Pull cover -1- toward center of instrument panel and out of retainers in A-pillar -arrow B- . Disconnect electrical connector for speakers. Lift right-hand plenum chamber cover -1- in center of instrument panel -arrow A-, this action unclips panel (front and rear edges are clipped). Pull cover -1- toward center of instrument panel and out of retainers in A-pillar -arrow B- . Disconnect electrical connector for speakers. Remove securing screws from right-hand sealing part -1- or left-hand sealing part -2- and take sealing part off plenum chamber upward. Installing Install in reverse order of removal.
