SYMPTOM The driver’s seat feels loose. PROBABLE CAUSE Excessive clearance in the seat base. CORRECTIVE ACTION Install shims on the seat base. DIAGNOSIS Diagnose the type of driver’s seat looseness by moving the seat to the midpoint position. The horizontal switch on the side of the seat adjusts the seat bottom. Pull up or push down on the front of the switch to move the seat bottom’s front edge up or down to the midpoint position. Pull up or push down on the rear of the switch to move the seat bottom’s rear edge up or down to the midpoint position. Sit in the driver’s seat, and move from side to side while resting against the seat-back. • If the seat moves side to side, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE. • If the seat moves other than side to side, continue troubleshooting. REPAIR PROCEDURE 1. Raise the front and rear of the driver’s seat bottom to the fully vertical position, and move the seat fully forward. 2. At each side of the seat base, loosen the two rear inboard T-30 Torx bolts several turns.

SYMPTOM The center pocket lid rubs, does not open, or opens but does not stay closed. PROBABLE CAUSE The center pocket is misaligned or incorrectly assembled. DIAGNOSIS Try to open and close the center pocket lid. • If the lid rubs against the dashboard, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE A: CENTER POCKET REALIGNMENT. • If the lid does not open, or it opens but does not stay closed, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE B: CENTER POCKET SCREW TIGHTENING/CENTER POCKET REPLACEMENT. REPAIR PROCEDURE A: CENTER POCKET REALIGNMENT 1. Remove the center pocket assembly: • Refer to page 20-132 of the 2003–2007 Accord Service Manual, or • Online, enter keyword POCKET, and select Dashboard Center Pocket Removal/ Installation from the list. 2. Using a round file, elongate the right mounting screw hole as shown. NOTE: Do not use a file larger than 4.0 mm, and do not elongate the hole more than 4.0 mm. 3. Reinstall the center pocket assembly, but don’t tighten the mounting screws yet.

PROBABLE CAUSE The torque converter is faulty. CORRECTIVE ACTION Replace the torque converter, or the torque converter and the transmission, and update the PCM with the HDS. NOTE: You must update the PCM to complete the repair.REPAIR PROCEDURE B Follow the IN-WARRANTY EXCHANGE steps in service bulletin 90-009, Automatic Transmission In- Warranty Exchange Program, to order a remanufactured A/T, replace the failed A/T, and return the failed A/T core. 1. Remove the transmission: • Refer to page 14-203 of the 2003–04 MDX Service Manual, or • Online, enter keyword A/T REM, and select A/T Removal from the list. 2. Clean the transmission cooler. Refer to service bulletin 89-015, ATF Cooler Cleaner. 3. Install a remanufactured transmission: • Refer to page 14-215 of the 2003–04 MDX Service Manual, or • Online, enter keyword A/T INSTALL, and select A/T Installation from the list. 4. Update the PGM-FI software using HDS version 1.018.016 or later (see SOFTWARE INFORMATION). Refer to service bulletin 01-026, Updating the ECM/PCM. 5. Do the idle learn procedure: • Make sure all electrical items (A/C, audio unit, defogger, lights, etc.) are turned off. • Start the engine and let it run until it reaches its normal operating temperature (cooling fan cycles twice). • Let the engine idle with the throttle fully closed for 10 minutes.

NOTE: To ensure a proper repair and proper reimbursement, you must read this entire service bulletin before doing any work. SYMPTOM The customer may complain of uneven or rapid rear tire wear, a roaring noise from the rear, and/or a vibration at highway speeds. PROBABLE CAUSE The combination of the tires and the rear suspension geometry may cause rapid and uneven rear tire wear. Tires in an advanced stage of this diagonal or inner edge wear may cause vibration and/or a bad bearing type noise. (For more details, see TIRE INSPECTION AND QUALIFICATION on page 2). CORRECTIVE ACTION Install a rear upper control arm kit, replace the flange bolts, replace the worn tires (see the Tire Replacement Information chart on this page), and do a four-wheel alignment. TIRE INSPECTION AND QUALIFICATION Diagonal Wear Lines The tire is no longer round. There are high and low spots on the tire, worn in a diagonal pattern across the tread.
