This How-to is based of the 2006 Toyota Corolla LE Step 1. Disconnect battery lead because of air bag sensors [Note: you WILL lose all of your radio presets…so you might want to write them down before moving forward.] Step 2. Pop off trim around shifter stick (I just lifted it up form the bottom with my finger nails) Step 3. Disconnect the Aux power, (not necessary, but it gets stuff out of the way) it just pulls right off Step 4. Remove center knob on the A/C panel (Just pull it straight out). Remove Phillips screw behind the knob this is the only screw that has to come out (in addition to the 4 radio screws) Step 5. Pull the a/c console forward. It’s a tight fit but it’s only held by clips. This was the most difficult part for me because I didn’t want to break anything. It eventually released after pulling with constant pressure. I found that pulling from the inside of the knob helped allot. Once the top part was off, pulling from the right edge of the console released the rest of it. Step 6. Disconnect these 4 Cables. Once you have done so the whole center console comes right out (make sure that the car is in neutral or else the shifter will be in the way and you won’t be able to take out the center console.) (I don’t think this step is necessary but again, it gives you more room to work and the doesn’t take any time at all to do so) (What it looks like then the shifter plate and the center console are removed)
