Assembly Tools Required: Turbine Shaft Holder T88C-77000-KH Converter Seal Replacer T88C-77000-BH 1. Align the bearing cover with guide bolts. Press the bearing cover into the torque converter housing. 2. Tighten the torque converter bearing cover bolts to 11-14 Nm (8-10 lb-ft). 3. Install the idler gear and output gear as an assembly by lightly tapping them in with a hammer. 4. Install the output gear bearing housing onto the torque converter housing. 5. Align the groove on the idler shaft with the mark on the bearing housing. 6. Install the output gear bearing housing bolts and tighten to 19-26 Nm (14-19 lb-ft). 7. Tap a new roll pin into the bearing housing using a 5/32-inch pin punch and hammer. 8. Install the parking pawl and shaft. 9. Install the shaft spring and snap clip. 10. Install the parking pawl actuator support with new bolts. Tighten the parking pawl actuator bolts to 11-14 Nm (8-10 lb-ft). 11. Install the detent lever and return spring. 12. Install the parking assist lever. 13. Install the detent lever holder and bolt. Tighten the detent lever holder bolt to 8-11 Nm (69-95 lb-in). 14. Install the manual shaft. 15. Install the detent plate, washer, and nut securing the manual shaft. Tighten the manual shaft nut to 41-55 Nm (30-41 lb-ft). 16. Install the differential assembly. 17. Install the output shell to the output gear. 18. Apply a thin coat of silicone sealant to the contact surfaces of the torque converter housing and transaxle housing.

1. Place the gearshift lever in the neutral position. 2. Remove the hood ground strap. 3. Remove the hood. 4. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Section 303-03. 5. Recover the A/C system. For additional information, refer to Section 412-00. 6. Remove the degas bottle. For additional information, refer to Section 303-03. 7. Remove the air cleaner and outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Section 303-12. 8. Disconnect the fuel tube spring lock couplings. For additional information, refer to Section 310-00. 9. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the water outlet adapter. 10. Disconnect the throttle and speed control cables, and remove the return spring. 11. Remove the bolts and position the cables and bracket out of the way. 12. Disconnect the climate control vacuum supply hoses. 13. Disconnect the two heater water hoses. 14. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors. 15. Unclip the harness in three locations. 16. Disconnect the electrical connector. 17. Disconnect the evaporative emissions (EVAP) return tube. 18. Disconnect the A/C suction tube from the accumulator. 19. Disconnect and remove the A/C suction tube. 20. Disconnect the A/C tube and position the tube aside. 21. Position the A/C manifold and tube assembly aside. 1. Remove the bracket nut. 2. Disconnect the A/C tube and position the components aside.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01. 2. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Section 303-12. 3. Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to Section 303-03. 4. Compress the hose clamp and disconnect the upper radiator hose. 5. Remove the three bolts and the appearance cover mounting bracket. 6. Disconnect the throttle body cam. 1. Disconnect the accelerator cable. 2. Disconnect the speed control actuator cable. 3. Remove the accelerator return spring. 7. Remove the accelerator cable bracket bolts and position the bracket and cables aside. 8. Disconnect the main vacuum harness. 9. Disconnect the fuel pulse damper vacuum hose. 10. Disconnect the climate control vacuum hose. 11. Remove the idle air control (IAC) fresh air hose and disconnect the differential pressure feedback exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) sensor electrical connector. 12. Disconnect the EGR vacuum regulator solenoid connections. 13. Disconnect the IAC and throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connectors. 14. Disconnect the EGR valve vacuum hose and the evaporative emission canister purge valve hose and position them aside. 15. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge valve vacuum hose and remove the vacuum harness.

Parking Brake Lever A: REMOVAL 1) Set the wheel stopper to wheels. 2) Remove the console box. 3) Loosen the parking cable adjusting nut and con- sole bracket. 4) Disconnect the connector of parking brake switch. 5) Remove the parking brake lever. If not as specified, adjust the parking brake. D: ADJUSTMENT Adjust the parking brake lever stroke.

NOTE: If the parking brake shoes or the brake discs have been removed for access to other components then DO NOT carry out the bedding in procedure. 1. Using the Land Rover approved diagnostic system, drive the parking brake to the mounting position. 2. Isolate the parking brake electrical circuit. Remove fuse number 8 from the BJB. 3. WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands. Raise and support the vehicle. 4. Remove the wheels and tires. 5. Release the brake caliper. Remove the brake caliper anchor bolts. 6. CAUTION: Do not allow the brake caliper to hang on the brake hose. Tie the brake caliper aside. 7. Release the park brake shoe adjustment. Remove the plug from the access hole in the brake disc. Using a suitable tool, rotate the brake shoe adjuster to release the adjustment. 8. Remove the brake disc. Remove the Torx screw. 10. Remove the primary brake shoe. Remove the hold-down spring and retaining pin. Pivot the shoe to release it from the spreader plate and return spring. 11. Remove the spreader plate and spring. 12. Remove the return spring. Remove the hold-down spring and retaining pin. Disconnect the parking brake cable retaining spring from the brake shoe lever. Release the parking brake cable.
